Those animal puzzles were very popular when I was in my prime, My brother and I had a large collection. His children also loved them. Haven't seen one in years.

The Antique Nomad had the same Egyptian lady on his estate sale, she was holding an incense burner.
I think the 'frog' coin purse, is a cane toad and possibly made in Australia. The cane toad is an introduced and very invasive species that is considered a pest here. It is made into a variety of souvenir items.
That's so sad. 😔
@@kirstenrissling879 It is sad Kirsten, but cane toads are poisonous and are responsible for the death of thousands of Australian native animals and pets every year. Due to their shorter life cycle they are a threat to our native frogs.

Wow, that last vendor was like an incredible, well priced thrift store on steroids. He had everything that folks love on youtube live sales. Would've picked up almost all of the items you got. I wouldve picked up those large brass swans.

Informative, as usual. :) I know a dealer who looks to pay around 10%-15% of final sale price, but they deal in larger furniture and art goods, which require condition reports and/or authentication, auction premiums, etc. I agree that merely doubling the investment is not enough to tie up capital and bring to market, especially on an item that may take a few weeks to get listed and sold. When you factor your profit and hourly rate as a vintage curator, cleaning, preparing, photographing, listing, and shipping, you do need more money with which to work. Many people may not realize that on the surface, so it's awesome that you take the time to help share with others who are inspired to delve into the world of reselling.

What a great day for you! I love swap meets. Some things that people buy and sell are crazy! The last one I went to, I began making my pile like you did. The vendor priced it, and when I went to grab a few more things... another person offered double what they quoted me, and left with my items. I was like... 😲 Now piles make me nervous, I was all anxious seeing your pile sitting there! Glad it waited for you!!

Yep, same here. In her livestream she talked about how she has been working retail, worked at a thrift store after her divorce, and sold retail, antique, and vintage. So she has a wealth of knowledge. Its very generous of her to share her knowledge because she has approached this business from all angles. She knows what and how to succeed through past lessons learned. She said she has a talent for being drawn to items and can sense when they are valuable. She's a pretty great gal and I really like the live auctions. 🙂👍

The wood slabs (wood cookies) are used in a lot of rustic, country themed weddings as centerpieces or to place food one for display, or general décor.

My quaker, Cedar loved the seeds from bell peppers I would cut the top part that had all the seeds on it and put on top of his cage, then throw away the rest of it. He also loved pop corn, and I would buy these iced oatmeal cookies and break off a piece and give him a "Cookie" one of his favorite words. But he would only eat the frosting and drop the rest on the floor. I bought one of those cheap table cloths that's plastic on one side and felt on the other. I spread it out around his cage to catch his droppings. That way it protected the floor.
I'm fairly new to your channel and I appreciate your explanations on items that you choose and those that you don't. My parents had an antique shop and did antique shows, so I am familiar with a lot of glassware, china, etc. It's fun to see what is popular in your area of the country. Thanks for taking us along on your trips!!

That goldtone crown looks like the ones I have seen used as dashboard ornaments. Snopes has a writeup on them because a lot of urban legends got associated with them. They were really popular in the 1990s.

You have to understand that they have overhead too. I worked selling at the flea markets for years. Between the driving to all the auctions and paying out for you stock, driving to all the swap meets to sell and paying anywhere from $20 to $75 for a space. Cost of gas, food and any other necessities plus maintenance on the vehicle. The overhead is very high so they have to make a substantial profit. People who go to the flea market seem to think we just get it all free and can sell it for little to nothing.

The taxidermy frog is actually from Australia. It is a taxidermy cane toad leather purse. I'm from Australia and these sell to tourists for about $30 AU......I just started watching you and I enjoy your videos - thanks for all the effort you put into your filming, editing and comps!
