Do you still do these videos? I only see videos for about 8 years ago

I made over 40 of them in the last couple of months but they are ocean track plotting and celestial navigation so they are not viewed much. In the coming year there will be many more. I plan to redo all of the chart navigation problem sets and do 10 of each problem instead of three problems and an overview. Long story short, there are many more to come. Thanks for your support!
      Cheers,

Do one take a bearing using a hand bearing compass? If so, would the same deviation chart of your ships compass apply? I loved the ease of your explaining though

Where do you get the deviation and variation?

So when you add Variation and Deviation you subtract it with East no matter what and you subtract total error from the PSC for True when going up but Add the total of error to true to get your PSC correct? I was taught to add W and subtract East going down and reverse the roles when going up and I think your way is better if I understood it correctly

Why convert the three bearings to "True"? ... could't you just plot the three in PSC, and then take that fix over to the Compass Rose and read the outer ring to get your Set in "True??

You need to convert the three bearing to true so you may plot them on the chart in true and get an accurate fix. It takes all of the compass error out of the bearings and allows you to use the outer ring of the compass rose.

Could you please explain to me where Variation comes from on your chart, or have i missed a video?

    • @sashankbandikatla

Robert stancer; the variation in the chart is visible in the compass rose it self. There it is mentioned as so and so degrees and increasing or decreasing by so and so minutes annually.. So accordingly u can calculate the true course
