Nice video bud! What rod/reel combo is that? And what line poundage were you using? I chase them with BFS gear up here in QLD but I find myself undergunned some times…I’m thinking I should upsize my gear a bit in some occasions.

This was my first trip chasing wild river Vic bass and wasn't sure what to expect. We Victorians don't have it as good as QLD when it comes to bass. I was using a ML baitcaster with a Daiwa Steez reel spooled with 10lb Sunline braid and 12lb Sunline fluorocarbon leader.

Annoying music, but not as annoying as people naming bass spots.

My videos are not for everyone but the Genoa is. Agree certain waterways should remain anonymous, but it is no secret the Genoa holds bass and a Google search confirms this. My favourite is the Victorian Fisheries Authority website and the Inland Angling Guide describing the "abundant" population of bass. A great public resource (vfa.vic.gov.au/recreational-fishing/fishing-locations/inland-angling-guide/areas/east-gippsland/east-gippsland-angling-waters#genoa). This happens to be the same publication I used in the 90s as reference. Add to this the fact that Mallacoota and the Genoa are the most popular fisheries in far East Gippsland attracting thousands of visiting anglers from all over, and there simply isn't a more popular waterway in the region. The bass have always been available for the angler willing to put in the hard yards. If anything, rising awareness, good management practices including stream rehabilitation works have only improved the fishery.

@@FishBeyondBorders well written response, but I go by the unwritten law of bass fishing. Mouths are best kept shut.
