It's funny you should say that. As someone who uses both a smart trainer and trains to power outside, I find maintaining a Z2 power very very difficult outside and have often thought about some kind of power restrictor adapter that works like a drive train brake to limit me from going 'too hard' and busting my Z2 outdoor workout.

I’m restricted to indoor riding for medical reasons so having the comfort will be more important as I train 5 or 6 days a week.
Seems like the lockout would be a good opportunity to be controlled via a blip or something because it'd be pretty tough to use this during a race or lively group ride and have to unclip to lock out to sprint.
shane, regarding the seat levelling. My mate has a kicker 2021 and the arms are not correctly welded to the central bit. meaning it's not level in a way that sounds similar to what you experienced. the AXIS feet easily balance it out (Wahoo said they'd replace it) I had a Tacx with the same type of welding problem myself 7 or 8 years ago. Just check that out to, literally, see if it's made properly!!!! it's obviously not as rare a problem as you might think.
Shane - top notch review here. Question - I bought a Move for my son. He does a fair bit of racing. On the first ride he had mixed feelings about the movement and noted that the calibration seemed off. I know this unit auto calibrates. We have 2 other Kickrs of earlier generations. I did some side by side non-scientific testing and sure enough it seemed harder (higher HR) to maintain similar power numbers on the Move vs the old stationary units and 5s top sprint power was about 50 watts higher on the stationary units vs the Move, in both open and closed setting. In essence, assuming the power is accurate, might the movement be stealing watts?
It comes at a bit of premium cost. It'd be great if they sold these at a special introductory price, for a limited time-frame only. If that were the case I'd likely be tempted to trade up. However, with the price as is, I'll opt to wait and maybe in that time-frame some competitor might come up with something as good or better but at a cheaper price. How the market take-up of it fares, as the US and Europe enter their Winter will be interesting to see. Great update and review
Well done Lama. Always first on the ball with new trainers 👍. Got an Kickr 3 and loving it. Will trade up to latest Kickr when heart rate sync to trainer is introduced.
I get this as a sort of "all in one" package that would work if someone is new to indoor training or is buying a new trainer anyway, but I'm wondering if a premium rocker plate for one's existing trainer might not be a better choice for most since you'd get motion along both planes. After riding it, how does this motion compare to a full rocker plate?
Thanks Shane. If I were to go to higher end of the trainer food chain I would be inclined th get the smart bike. This setup isn't easy to break down between workouts for those of us lacking dedicated space. On an unrelated note, I have that same table you have at left. Brilliant at 1/3 the price of the Wahoo version.
Just rode the kickr move for the first time. encountered the same leaning to one side issue. going to try and level it for the next ride. are others finding this?

I have a rocker platform with a small amount of fore/aft movement and I really don't care for it. I'm guessing you didn't love it either or you would have said so :)
So nice to see recyclable packaging this time round :) Little bit jelly looking at my kickr, this movement looks fantastic! Thanks for the thorough review, really quality work!
Looks a lot like the motion and movement of the Garmin Tacx NEO Motion Plates. It's a shame Wahoo couldn't make this a $199 USD add-on like the NEO Motion Plates. I love my motion plates, I guess my wife will have to do without as her Kirkr 5 is a long way from needing replacement.
Interesting one. I find riding indoors for multiple hours quite hard on the hips. Does this make it a bit easier and is it the front to back or side to side wiggle that helps more?

Because not doing this level of review is to blindly believe what companies are selling you is as they say, without question. And that's simply advertising. And what if that assurance comes for free here on UA-cam from someone who's done this kind of work for years? That's a pretty good deal if you ask me. Why you'd comment saying it's a waste of time is playing to the manufacturers and letting them get away with making underperforming products.
