  • Traditionally, monks walk barefoot into the surrounding villages at dawn to receive their daily meal. Refraining from begging, monks walk silently, wearing their robes and carrying their almsbowls, making themselves available to anyone interested in making an offering of food.
On the edge of the Yarra Ranges National Park in East Warburton, Australia, lives a community of Buddhist monks at Buddha Bodhivana Monastery. Dwelling deep in the forest, taking vows of poverty and celibacy, and devoting their lives to the practice of mindfulness and meditation.
Follow two monks from this community as they walk on almsround to their local town.
