Please read the book, War on the Run. The book essentially begins at the battle of Lake George and ends at the declaration of Independence. Well documented raw history. Very graphic, be warned.
Fort William Henry does a "adult" tour that said exactly what the Abenaki did to the British soldiers. apparently they were known to slice the abdomen, grab the intestines, and tomahawk them to a tree. The solider would then bleed out and run away causing all the intestines to fall out. Lets not even get to all the scalping that was done. Many men were massacred and mauled by Native Americans due to promises not being fulfilled
I really love your work but you have done a historical error, Battle of Lake George is not the first time American forces defeated a European force that honor goes to the Siege of Louisbourg 1745 in which New England Provincials took the Gibralter of New France which Britain gave back after that war. You really should do a piece on it as this great victory and milestone in American history is hardly known despite its great significance.
I'll have to look into that battle more, it sounds interesting. At first glance it looks like the Royal British Navy was involved in the siege, so it wasn't exclusively colonials.
Heading to Lake George today. I didn't realize it was one of the clearest watered lakes in America. Excited about learning more of the history
It’s a beautiful spot. Be sure to check out the new visitor center in Battlefield park, and Fort William Henry to learn more about the history
Well made film, interesting hearing America's pre-Revolution history, which isn't talked about that much
Thank you, glad you enjoyed it!
It's a shame that this time period isn't mentioned more, especially in the areas where the events took place.
Great job! I visit Lake George about 4 times a yr. Love its history!
Thank you. I'm always amazed that more isn't done to promote and preserve the wonderful history in that area
Excellent job Eric, I freekin love the history of wars, especially on our homeland.
@@sasquatchwizardadirondacks7710 thanks, glad you enjoyed it.
Thanks!
Wish my ancestors knew this before they helped the French. Sad😢
