  • Let's face it - our generation is scared of commitment. We're always feeling #FOMO and we barely keep small promises in fear of better options coming along. But as Christians, we're called to keep our commitments because it’s important to God as we see in Numbers 30 and Matthew 5. Christians should be marked by commitment. Adulting is making and keeping promises. If you think about it, everything great comes from a commitment. Are you willing to commit? __

    " As we steward the Gospel let me ask you something.
    Who is going to believe you when you say a man lived and he died and he came back to life, when you can't even keep a movie date."
    Who is going to believe you about Jesus? 🔥🔥🔥

    The Bible does often put evil on display along with was NOT to be. This is one.

    God sacrificed His only Son so that we would not have to. God stopped Abraham from sacrificing Isaac. I have struggled for a while with this passage but, I believe it was just for her to remain celibate. For a woman not to have children was a great sacrifice in Bible times. Just my thoughts. Still praying about it since God does not condone human sacrifice.

    The Message translation is junk. Stop using it as a reference. It's unwise.

      It is junk. I always thought that he was making fun of it with his references though.

    Cmon man .. jefta was a godly man... He knew offering a living human as a burning sacrifice was against the law and he knew God hated it... Why would he repaid the love of God with what God hated the most? Saying he really did it showed the non existing relationship between jefta and the Lord...

      After learning more on the story of Jefta... Digging deeper... Comparing him with the leaders before him or after him, the judges or the kings back then really really were not godly as we hope to... Those were the dark period on israel... Their leaders were failing.... So i think i have to agree, biggest probability, Jefta were not much different with them and he most likely did it...

    THE LORD JESUS THE CHRIST did not say:
    ''make CATHOLICS'', "make PROTESTANTS", ''make BAPTISTS'', ''make PENTECOSTALS'', "make EVANGELICALS";
    nay, not even ... ''MAKE Christians'' ... from out of HIS hearers then
    --- but to the apostles then at HIS ascension --- "MAKE DISCIPLES” out of us
    as recorded for our guidance now(!) ... in >>Matthew 28:19.
    We ought then to just learn and behave as THE LORD JESUS THE CHRIST's DISCIPLES
    for the rest of our lives! And for everyone's benefit:
    a disciple is a believer turned disciplined learner and follower of THE LORD JESUS & THE CHRIST
    whose LIFE COMMITMENTS are the following in THEIR strict sequential order:
    1st, >TO JESUS in HIS LORDSHIP & CHRISTHOOD >>Luke 14:26 >>Acts 2:36
    ... to be in us individually --- first and foremost --- above our every --- blood and societal / organizational relationships
    2nd, >TO GOD's WORD next(!) >>John 8:31
    ... as resulting from our individual status as to faring in our commitments to JESUS in HIS LORDSHIP & HIS CHRISTHOOD
    3rd, >TO MEETINGS / GATHERINGS of BELIEVERS thereafter(!) >>Acts 2:41-47
    ... as resulting from our growing commitments to GOD's WORD & to THE LORDSHIP & THE CHRISTHOOD of JESUS
    4th, >TO EVERY ONE from thereon(!) >>John 13:35
    ... as resulting from our deepening commitments to the meetings / gatherings of believers
    ... to GOD's WORD and to JESUS HIMSELF & HIS LORDSHIP & HIS CHRISTHOOD
    in that strict sequence and order, --- weakest link telling the strength of
    our OVER-ALL COMMITMENT.
    5th, >TO BEAR MUCH FRUIT >>John 15:8
    ... particularly as listed in >>Galatians 5:22-23, --- love, joy and peace to be evident in us individually;
    so that we can be patient, kind and good to all impatient, cruel and bad to us;
    so that before GOD, we can prove ourselves faithful, gentle and restrained before HIM
    ---- the ultimate goal of our discipleship as THE RANDOM TEST & MEASURE of our MATURITY in LIFE
    ... particularly being PATIENT, KIND & GOOD even and more so to them impatient, cruel & bad to us
    while we make our living with them in this problematic WORLD OF PURSUITS for:
    1- SOVEREIGNTY, 2- POWER, 3- POSITIONS, 4- CONTROL & INFLUENCE, 5- FORTUNE, 6- FAME, even 7- RECOGNITION
    ....... we are called-out of ---- to overcome ... its systems while inside them!!!!
    These FIVE COMMITMENTS are actually The Vital SIGNS & Essential MILESTONES for OUR SPIRITUAL HEALTH & LIFE ITSELF
    as DISCIPLES of THE LORD JESUS THE CHRIST which we have to constantly at every opportunity measure by ourselves!
