- Skainos Square is a part of a non-sectarian community center at the bottom of Newtonards Road in East Belfast that opened in the fall of 2012, following 13 years of planning and fundraising and learning. It is a little bit of what might have been called 'no man's land' in a divided community that is establishing itself as a place that has room for all people of goodwill. This was the closing tune from the first outdoor lunchtime concert. The honor of joining in their efforts was mine. I look forward to going back.
Sounds like a very worthwhile project. It's great that you were able to be part of it!
Terrible shame this event wasn't better publicised. I missed this, as well as the Errigle gig, Scott. I've been waiting to see you now for about five years plus. I hope you can make it back to Belfast again some time.
This came up quickly. Skainos is an amazing project and it was an honor to be there. I was on the BBC Radio a couple of times the week prior to the Errigle gig. Sorry to have missed you. My apologies.
For some reason I started thinking about Rory Gallagher when I heard this. A musical relation, for sure :) Awesome stuff.
+Alf Torp It is more common musical ancestry. I have heard some of Rory's work, but not enough to be able to name a track. But what is certainly true is that we've spent a great deal of time with the old recordings and some of the old people in this tradition, and that leaves a mark. Good ears to hear it.
Delta Blues :D
