    That was awesome! I had a 150 from 2009 till a few months ago, now have the DVX200 and also the Glidecam HD 4000 ... Good match!

      Awesome! I'm planning to sell my 150 when the UX90 comes out. Good upgrade.
      I checked out your channel, some of your videos seem to be shot on other cameras. What else do you shoot with?

      I checked the prices and it doesnt seem worth selling the 150 here in the UK. All the club videos were on the 150 until 2 months ago then on to the DVX but having all kinds of trouble trying to get the same kind of punchy look from it. The other stuff is on the Nikon D800 with fast lenses and the weddings a combo of HMC150 and Nikon. Have you got a blog of Facebook page btw?

      Do you use Scene File 3 for the DVX200? It's got a bit more saturation and contrast dialed in.

      I tried to emulate the 150 but havent had the time yet to properly dial it in - will have a look at scene 3 though :)

    Can this glidecam be used for sony Pxw z150 ?

    • @TruckinBeagle
      @TruckinBeagle 4 роки тому

      I'm curious why you ask that? I am comparing this camera and the z150. Can't decide which to get. The Panasonic has a larger sensor and sounds like it does better in low light. Also like the size. Got any recommendations? Thank you!

    Hi Ed, Great tutorial, I see Im coming 6 year late though! Has the Glidecam been updated since then - what model would you advise today? Dont have a huge budget

      Hi, well I no longer use the DVX200 for walking shots that might require stabilization. I mainly use the Panasonic GH5/GH6 for that now. So i use a DJI Ronin S for a motorized stabilizer rather than something manual like a glidecam. But a Ronin wouldn't fit the bigger DVX200 anyway.

    I want to get into these tools but they are always too heavy for me and I just default to Adobe Warp Stabilizer to save me xD

    Great video! I am getting back into video after being away from it for years so forgive the basic question. While using the Glidecam with the DVX200 do you have the stabilization setting in the camera off? Thanks. Keep up the great work!

      @EdRickerVlogs  7 років тому +1

      Thanks for watching! Yes, that's the OIS button. I usually keep it on for glidecam work...seems to cover up any slight imperfections with the glidecam movement.

    Lol good video. I use a sony rx10 mark 2 on a one handed gimbal. However I dont get that organic movement.

    Do you think the HD-2000 Glidecam be suitable for the dvx200?

    • @EdRickerVlogs
      @EdRickerVlogs  2 роки тому

      The HD-2000 is only rated for up to 6 pounds. The DVX200 is heavier than that. HD-4000 would work though.

    What model of the glidecam do you use in this demo?
    What model of the glidecam would you recommend if one adds a Atomos recorder at the back end of the camera?

    • @EdRickerVlogs
      @EdRickerVlogs  7 років тому

      I use the Devin Graham Signature Glidecam. The Devin Graham model allows for the heaviest cameras among the entire glidecam line (without vest), so it's probably the best one to use if you're also using an Atomos.

  • @PignaGroup
    @PignaGroup 7 років тому

    I tried to use glidecam with Dvx200 But it's much heavy..Maybe i'll buy the glidecam smoother (arm vest)

  • @lorageproductions
    @lorageproductions Рік тому

    what rig can you use to lesson weight on the arms?

    • @EdRickerVlogs
      @EdRickerVlogs  Рік тому

      Since the handle is hollow, you might be able to use a regular glidecam arm/vest setup with it. More research would have to be done though.

    Can someone tell me what cams and glide mechanisms are used at professional concerts??? A big camera was used on some type of glide string which sent the camera all around the concert to film jayz and Beyoncé

    Do you turn off the Electronic stabilization when you use glidecam?

  • @PignaGroup
    @PignaGroup 7 років тому

    Do you suggest to shoot at 30fps or 60fps with glidecam?

    • @EdRickerVlogs
      @EdRickerVlogs  7 років тому

      For most glidecam stuff, I usually shoot in 24fps or 60fps. I usually export out at 24fps for most of my beauty projects.
      I try to shoot at 24fps if it's video of any existing motion (cars, people walking, etc.). I might do 60fps and slow it down for smoother motion if it's just scenery or buildings or whatever, or if slo-mo people/cars/environment is desirable.
      One big thing to consider is that the DVX200 crops the image in a lot when bumping up to 60fps at UHD, so sometimes the crop is undesirable or won't work for the situation. In that case, 24 is necessary. For example, if I'm gliding around a car in a tight area, I may not be able to get the entire car in the shot if I'm shooting at 60, so I have to drop it down to 24 to get the wider angle.

    • @EdRickerVlogs
      @EdRickerVlogs  7 років тому

      Maybe 1.5 or 2 seconds, depending on environment. More time if I want to tilt upward as I walk with it.
