We can’t keep getting punked by the Oregon’s and Ohio State’s of the world with their massive collectives. This is USC and the money is there, but we need someone like Pete Carroll to rally the alumni and donors to raise a $100mm for NIL.

I quit watching the NFL for this same reason. Money, money, money. Players get paid, and then they don't show up (Chase Young. Odel beckham, etc). Justis Terry and Isaiah Gibson will not show up for their high school teams because they are playing, not to get hurt.

Everyone forgets these STUDENTS have to pass class first to be eligible. It's STUDENT athlete not ATHLETE student. Parents are a big issue too USC doesn't want to give a HSkler 6 figs before he's played a single down. Those schools that drop bags for potential and those players aren't as good as they were in HS will fail miserably. Paying for potential is VERY DANGEROUS. Now USC should drop bags on transfer players but incoming FR should have to prove something past the HS level

He first had to take three and four star kids and coach them up to perform like five star kids on the field. Then the five star kids started committing. Won’t happen overnight. It was always going to be a longshot to keep either of these players. The Georgia high school football community is well-connected and I am quite sure that all these kids have heard since their March commitment, was WTH. Who knows where either will end up but Coach Scott at UGA told Terry from day 1 it would be a marathon, that everyone would come after him, and UGA would stay with it until the end. He's made MANY visits to Athens. Tuscaloosa might seal the deal but the pull to stay home and play in the SEC is strong. More money likely wouldn't have changed the outcome.

Either pay up big or pay the staff to do it Michigan style. Even after coaching changes they didn’t have a mass exodus like was predicted. Long term, if you aren’t dumping 20-30 million a year you better find the high potential guys and finish out with 12-15 ranked classes with culture kids who aren’t looking to jump the second they aren’t offered top dollar. Bank on that. It doesn’t look like our alums want to dump that much money consistently.
I don’t even understand the purpose of committing anywhere if you’re just going to jump around. Just stay uncommitted until you sign your letter of intent. In what industry can you make commitments multiple times and back out multiple times and not affect your market value? You can’t do this in the NFL. Universities across the board need to put a stop to this, by requiring these young men to sign contracts, and if you break the contract, consequences should ensue according to how much money is involved. This is the Universities fault as a whole that’s causing this unrestrained market.
Local kids showed us last year it’s all about the bag, not wins or who produces. Even a blind man can see Riley would've easily had the number 1 class this year if NIL was fixed at USC. It's the only reason we not back. When those 5 stars started visiting other schools, the main topic was going to be about USC NIL lacking. Usc lied to Riley so far. Convincing kids from SEC territory to commit is and has always been a tuff task, but it's made harder because USC's defense has been mediocre/terrible the last 2 years. I believe in our new coaching staff but they still need to prove it on the field. Time will tell but I'm optimistic. In my opinion there is a positive correlation between success on the field and recruiting.
USC J, that's why I don't get excited about verbal commitment announcements. It's a shame that our blue-blood program refuses to get serious in the NIL space. If this trend continues, USC will not have the athletes in the key positions to among the cfb elite. Julian Lewis could be the next domino to fall. Smh.

The Georgia high school football community is well-connected and I am quite sure that all these kids have heard since their March commitment, was WTH. Who knows where either will end up but Coach Scott at UGA told Terry from day 1 it would be a marathon, that everyone would come after him, and UGA would stay with it until the end. He's made MANY visits to Athens. Tuscaloosa might seal the deal but the pull to stay home and play in the SEC is strong. More money likely wouldn't have changed the outcome.

Either pay up big or pay the staff to do it Michigan style. Even after coaching changes they didn’t have a mass exodus like was predicted. Long term, if you aren’t dumping 20-30 million a year you better find the high potential guys and finish out with 12-15 ranked classes with culture kids who aren’t looking to jump the second they aren’t offered top dollar. Bank on that. It doesn’t look like our alums want to dump that much money consistently.
I don’t even understand the purpose of committing anywhere if you’re just going to jump around. Just stay uncommitted until you sign your letter of intent. In what industry can you make commitments multiple times and back out multiple times and not affect your market value? You can’t do this in the NFL. Universities across the board need to put a stop to this, by requiring these young men to sign contracts, and if you break the contract, consequences should ensue according to how much money is involved. This is the Universities fault as a whole that’s causing this unrestrained market.

Am with you, USC J, on the NIL, USC is to big of a university and to legendary to play small ball. The coaching staff is doing its job but the NIL is losing. Fire all that's involved with it and allow real people with real winning ways. You have to pay to play and if you want to survive this new style of college football, get in it to win it. USC already has a lot of haters against them. Right down to the big 3 recruiting agencies

Convincing kids from SEC territory to commit is and has always been a tuff task, but it's made harder because USC's defense has been mediocre/terrible the last 2 years. I believe in our new coaching staff but they still need to prove it on the field. Time will tell but I'm optimistic. In my opinion there is a positive correlation between success on the field and recruiting.
USC J, that's why I don't get excited about verbal commitment announcements. It's a shame that our blue-blood program refuses to get serious in the NIL space. If this trend continues, USC will not have the athletes in the key positions to among the cfb elite. Julian Lewis could be the next domino to fall. Smh.

I'm confused? What's happened with nil at USC? There wasn't any problems with nil whenever they snagged a star quarterback from Oklahoma And a star WR from Pittsburgh.... And a star running back from Oregon? Did they run out of money? What's changed from a couple years ago?
