Extremely informative video as always Tom! One little mistake however, Elon Musk didn't found Tesla, he became the biggest share owner and voted the founder and at that time CEO Martin Eberhard out to become CEO himself.
I would be interested in seeing a case study about Bank of America. in the area i live in, you will always hear many bad things about BoA yet a large amount of them have a BoA account. Some would even say they're the worst company in America but i never understand how a Bank that big could have a negative reputation. Thanks for reading, I'm Enjoying the content.
The BEST idea of 2016 from Patrick Bet David. to BRING us Mr Ellsworth the Biz Doc. Thanks Patrick, Thanks Tom. Love the Videos.. can't wait for Next Friday.
Once again, you guys are -virtually- joining me on my breakfast. These case studies are awesome to learn proper, solid lessons AND get some inspiration :)
Hey Tom & Valuentainment Team! you guys are really awesome - I learnt a lot more from you guys, then my 20 years of life. Can you make a case study about Facebook and other (technology) companies that are not making profit on short-term. how can they survive? how can they thrive?
This strategy is fully laid out from the book "The Third Industrial Revolution by Jeremy Rifkin". The 5 pillars of the Third Industrial Revolution: 1. Shifting to local renewable energy 2. Transforming buildings into micro power plants to generate energy on site 3. Deploy energy storage throughout the grid to collect intermittent energies 4. Use internet to transform the power grid into bi-directional communicating network 5. Electric cell vehicles which can buy and sell energy to the power grid What we could expect is a power network from Tesla (pillar #4).
Thank you Tom. I would suggest, for the next case study, The Carnegie Steel Company. I think that would be nice if we can learn how Carnegie succeed in the Steel Industry.
Haven't seen that, really, on Cable. Although it could be just my perception, but watching the case study of Carnegie's Steel Company being brought by your way of delivering case studies, would be a Great video to watch. Even a worthed one, really.
This video now opened my eyes to seeing a bigger picture. At first it was make a Mobile Carwash service in all states in America. Now, I want to get past that and make something else. Something bigger, something better.
Can you do a study of the staying power of Hudson's Bay Company (HBC)... It is the oldest company in North America and also once the largest land owner in the entire world. They own retail stores, under various subsidiary, in Canada, Belgium, Germany and the USA. It owns Saks Fifth Avenue and is now in talks to acquire Macy's. It would be very interesting to examine how the company has been able to not only survive but accomplish all that it has, since its founding in 1670. Thank you for the very interesting videos Tom.
Just came by to say that although PBD is has the spotlight on valuetainment, I get plenty of value from these insights with Tom. Great job, keep it up!
Wow so impressed for taking in our request +Tom Ellsworth. Learnt quite a lot from this Tesla case study.Coz of this I will make sure I get 10 of my friends to subscribe to +Valuetainment, so I owe you 10 subs. Thanks
+Billy Rotich - you don't "owe "us anything - we thank you for being a viewer but we also thank you for getting your friends to come see and subscribe as well. - Tom
Very good case study. I would like to see a case study on other new technologies, such as space exploration (SpaceX, NASA, Boeing...), nanotech, biotech, AI or any other.
Very nice presentation and also informative! Although, if you are a Tesla/Elon Musk fan like myself, there is nothing that you wouldn't know. My sugestion for the next case study is an agricultural company: AVEBE. Cheers!
Enjoyed this video a lot, I have taken screenshots of the quotes you put in this video and will probably write them up my wall for motivation in the future
review on big compagnies is great but can we have review on smaller compagnies, with advise to what they should do next . Would gift a lots of ideas and exemples to what to do to expand or to take it too the next step.
Again an awesome video, Tom! Wouldn't it be interesting to add a "case study Of the Biz doc" where you talk about all your companies and big decisions you made ? :)
Awesome video Tom! I just have to say that I heard Elon Musk say that the roof is going to be cheaper with those solar tiles than the regular ones. Now thats an even bigger step towards clean energy empire that Tesla is building.
Watching some of the other UA-cam videos on this topic, I heard them say that: 1) Power plants run by utility companies are generally more efficient in converting fuel to energy than car internal combustion engines 2) The electric motors used by EV's are more efficient than car internal combustion engines (Not an expert on this.) What Tesla is doing is truly amazing! Thanks for helping to spread the word!
+NPsargam I appreciate the research. I think the question is how we create energy United States coal and nuclear both have waste products that are horrible. - Tom
Amazing content! I always got enlightened about some new topics from these business cases, even for companies that I thought I know well of! Keep up the great work and get to 1M subs soon :)
Glad to hear from you, Tom. Indeed I'd love to hear a case study from you about Influencer Marketing (IM) & IM platforms with a few notes/questions:1. What is the market, key players (IM platforms) and their pros/cons/differentiation and biz models/revenue streams? I know Famebit from YT acquisition but there are numerous of them (socialbakers, Traackr, Virool, etc.)2. How IM will impact traditional way of marketing and the ecosystem (advertising creation, creative agencies, media agencies) with the new economy that IM brings to the table (influencer as content creator, curation vs. heavy duty content production, Big Fewer content in the past vs. more, snackable everyday content)3. Your POV on IM & IM management for big brands (directly or through agency)Bonus personal questions for you :) given your fanbase, would you consider IM as an influencer and what brands/business would you want to partner with as an "influencer" :) Looking forward to hear the case & your take P/S: would be great if you provide an email for ease of contact, exchange and tracking :)
I feel left better than you found me, Biz Doc! Thanks for the valuable lesson. Tesla, or at least the energy company behind it may be the go to stock to invest in while there is still time enough to buy in low to make 10's of millions or more after it splits several times when this thing hits the global market, and the demand for it exceeds the supply. Wooohoooo!
Could you do a video on a major clothing brand in fashion. I'm a self made fashion designer and I normally watch your videos on Fridays and these can apply to everyone which I love. but could you do a fashion brand like Gucci or Tom Ford and their business sucess through the years?
This was a great explanation, I've watched a bunch of these to do some 'homework for a business accelerator I'm in and you're the only person who really 'got' the big picture. (Which is why we're all so captivated by Elon Musk in the first place!). I also think your commitment to Tesla is a great testament to their marketing - they sell a vision of the future, not cars. I came across an interesting term the other day - system entrepreneur - in describing these folks looking to disrupt and build new industries/ ecosystems. We need more people like this learning how to build ecosystems to accelerate the change needed on the planet.
I feel very small when i look at these giants but i believe i will be the same one day but the way is very long and wish i could make it. Thanks for the knowledge always respect and love 😍
Hi, i didnt get something from the video about Pay pal and Elon.... Paypal is owned by ebay not Tesla. So what similarities are they in them both? thanks!
I know in Victoria, Australia, we used to burn brown coal at the Hazelwood Power Station (the station has been decommissioned in favour of renewable energy), which is heaps more dirtier to burn than black coal. What that meant was electric cars were polluting more than the conventional motor car.
This video illustrates exactly why I hate the argument that Tesla's market cap is too high because their MC per car is 300k. They're not a car company. They're an energy company that gained their early money based on car sales. One thing you didn't mention about the Solar City deal, most of the panels they install are leased, so when it comes time to take them back they've had the entire manufacturing cost covered by the lease term and now they have a bunch of panels to put into solar farms so they can sell power to the grid, like they're doing in Hawaii. In 15 years they'll have enough paid for panels to make enough farms to capture over 10% of the US power market, that's over 300 Billion dollars a year, and all they have to do to capture that is keep doing exactly what they're doing.
+Techiesse - to show respect for the viewer, I don't wing it. I write out a little script each week with the fact that I've been able to research. They just come out at 16 - 17 minutes. thanks - Tom
Power companies have always been wasteful due to regulations as they are required to generate a 10 or 20% reserve that goes unused in most cases. And at night when demand is low the coal power plants can not just turn off two boilers and generators because it may take days to get them back online and synched up. The electric cars would flatten out the demand drop at night and supply revenue to the plants. They would use the mostly wasted power.
Nexus phones/devices were allways "just" a clearly indicated re-branded devices built by (huge and respected) electronic manufacturers (like HTC, Samsung, LG...), right?
+Rubia Sabri - I think you could do a case study on the serial entrepreneur and certainly Jack Dorsey and Elon Musk would be two good candidates. - Tom
The knowledge that you provide is outstanding. Thank you.
+Elizabeth Perez - Olivieri thanks -
"One word comes to mind", when you scroll through the feed and see Tom made another case study, is DAAAMMN !!!

That would be great!
Avoidious hahah , I'm 100% sure they will eventually (Y)

I like how you casually talk about your Ferrari and AMG like everyone owns one lol 👌🏿...you the bro. Love the knowledge and work keep it up!
This is by far the best case study! *Note* I'm getting involved with the automotive industry so my opinion is extremely biased
+Ali Masood Haidar glad I could help - Tom
Quick lectures whenever you are ready to hear, thx Tom.

+Adnan Daad thank you - Tom
Quick correction: Musk didn't found Tesla. He joined the board about a year after it was created and helped create the company you see today.
@kevin
Technically no, but for all practical intents and purposes yes.
Amazing insight!
Plz do a case on Infosys or Wipro
Thank you Tom. I would suggest, for the next case study, The Carnegie Steel Company. I think that would be nice if we can learn how Carnegie succeed in the Steel Industry.

I always long for "DAMN". Can't get enough of it.
I am addicted to the DAMN!

Thank you for the very interesting videos Tom.
QUICKER not faster. Know the difference quicker is speed to a certain speed (60 mph or 100 mph) faster means top speed
Just discovered your channel today and these are some very interesting case studies. Very professional and informative content. Cheers Tom

Could you maybe make a STEEPLE or SWOT analysis on Tesla or Starbucks?
Power companies have always been wasteful due to regulations as they are required to generate a 10 or 20% reserve that goes unused in most cases.
