At the end of Mission from ‘Arry I think it’s Steve who says, “Some c***’s recording this!” My mates and I laughed ourselves silly and quoted that over and over in high school in the 90s!!
I’m glad I saw the Future Past tour in Baltimore. It felt like a special tour. It turns out it was, because it was Nicko’s last one. I think it was one of Maiden’s best tours ever, and I’ve seen a lot of them. The energy of the band was incredible. Farewell, Nicko.
I seen Iron Maiden Powers lave tour in Toronto at Maple Leaf Gardens The seats I had I rhought I was gonna fall on the stage. The seats were so steep at the cheap seats they were dangerous .That arena was cool for concerts and Hockey. They decorated the stage floor with the Egyptian symbols from the album yea I got the album still thank God. Love Nikko Love Maiden They are like the Led Zeppelin of metal for me .Never wrote a bad song and never sold out always hitting hard.
My intro was Piece of Mind and then went back to Killers in the catalog. So Nicko was the first drummer i was aware of. But, i saw the brain on the table and wondered if it had something to do with the name McBrain. I got the cassette Christmas 1983. Was a big fan for a few years, but didn’t love Somewhere In Time for the most part. I loved the original Maiden-Powerslave. Liked Fear of The Dark and purchased a few CDs but never had the same love for the band after Poweslave. Saw them 10 years ago and the were phenomenal. Loved Nicko and it’s worth looking into how he played the bass drum if you don’t know.
Appreciate the story. I always respected Iron Maiden, however I was not a fan of their music. Always loved their album covers and when I got magazines like Circus, Hit Parader etc, I always read EVERY ARTICLE! So in a way I felt like I knew bands that I didn’t listen to. Appreciate what they have done and will do for music. Prayers up and good wishes for Nicko!
Man I haven't heard mission from Arry since it was new material. So long ago but never forgot it. Your correct in that back then we really didn't have any real opportunities to hear any musicians conversions other that the limited scripting of MTV and Canada Much music. Most of what we were exposed to was in print, magazines and news paper reviews and obituaries. Thank you for this man! The friend of mine that had bought this single back then died not long afterwards, the album was lost to time as far as I knew.
@@audiomover Thank you, my friends name was Rod McLeod, he was the most dedicated person to appreciate music that I have ever known. Rod was a walking encyclopedia of facts about rock and 80s metal as it was in 1989, he never ever lost a game of rock trivia. His truck broke down one day and needed wheels to get to work. I worked very close to home and would walk instead of using wheels. I lent him my motorcycle to use till the truck was repaired. 1977 Honda CB400F Super Sport. Less than two weeks into riding it he was hit by a car running a red light and killed. Ive had survivors guilt ever since and not a day goes by that I don't think about him. To hear mission from arri after all these years has been a happy and sad experience. I am so glad you did this episode, it has given me just a little more closure in the loss of my best friend from so long ago.
I had that original 12 incher., 2 min. Stolen with my entire record collection. Long time Maiden fan since 86, my intro was the first two albums followed by the rest and somewhere in time was new, well they have been my favorite band ever since.
In 1990, Iron Maiden re-released all their singles up to that point in a 10 CD collection (two singles per CD), including Two Minutes. Each CD had an additional track called Listen With Nicko parts 1 to 10. It was Nicko telling Iron Maiden stories and funny takes. In the Two Minutes one, he tells the story of Misson from Arry. Nicko's voice can be heard in the official Piece of Mind release, in the intro to Still Life. That's his impression of Idi Amin played backwards. Nicko, apart from being a rather unappreciated drumming legend, comes across as a funny, relatable bloke. Its almost like he's your friend even though you never met him. So no surprise he gets so much appreciation from the fans in the wake of these news.
For the British - “muppet” is a pretty derogatory term. Glad to see that Bruce called Nicko an actual muppet - Animal, which for metal drummers, I imagine must be a compliment.
So funny. The first two minutes …. I was just having this exact discussion with a friend a couple days ago. I had the exact same experience. I assumed that “McBrain” was a made up name based on the inner sleeve. But yea … I remember thinking “who is this guy”. On another note until about 15 years ago I had always read Clive as “Cliff”. I only realize I’d read it wrong in the internet age. Lol
If you didn't see the Muppet comment in the video, it's right here - ua-cam.com/video/651cNsuqev8/v-deo.htmlsi=XeTwPjIpJ_Dygkdd&t=976 If people have not read Bruce's book they may not have ever heard the Muppet reference. And because Bruce thought it was significant enough to make the Animal/Muppet comparison in his book, we mentioned it in the video and thought it merited being a part of the title of this video about Nicko. Sorry if you disagree. Thanks for your feedback.
Nicko is a top ten drummer for me . Sad that he stepped down but hes done his duty . God bless Nicko 🙌
I saw the somewhere I'm time tour..worth noting was a lot of bands at that time started using rack mount stuff...no more stacks on stage 😂😂

So glad I discovered your channel. Love revisiting how media was reacting to classic metal bands at the time.
I'm glad you enjoy the channel! Thank you.

That's so true, those magazines were a window into so many other groups and artists. I loved those things.

While I have huge respect for Nicko I always thought Clive's rhythmic interaction with Steve was far better.
His work on "Killers" was well....killer.
Nicko's work is superior.

Sure like mikkey dee 😂
The actual solo you spoke about wasn’t with Trust but way before that. Nicko was in a band called McKitty.
Thanks for the clarification.
Nicko will be on the next Album he just won't tour. Plenty of time for Niko to create new drumbeats and ideas, Up the irons.
Everyone should look up "Iron Maiden Age of Innocence Nicko" it is Nicko singing and it is hilarious!
Fun fact when McBrain left Trust for Maiden, Burr had joined Trust soon after.
I didn't know that 😮
My buddy saw iron maiden in Philadelphia Nov 1

As I stated I saw the band in Memphis Feb 85, world slavery stage right floor seats. Thank you Mr. McBrain.
And U2 audiomover, and thanks for the b side single info.
You bet!
@@audiomoverI like the piece of mind Pic disc and cross eyed Mary,I like the fact he and Ian Anderson performed together also.
The show was in Allentown Pennsylvania, allegedly.
Paul Day was the first singer ,Not Dianno
An American saying “mission from Airy” is hilarious! 😂

Bruce was also involved in the argument too.
Yeah, it was almost like he was egging it on.
@ let you into a little secret, it was actually Bruce who recorded the argument.
Mission from arry was funny.
Exactly!
