Sonic's Kingdom Valley in 2'40"616. My old time was 3'14... crazy how much I'm beating all my old times by. (DarkspinesSonic's old record was 2'59.) Those of you who haven't played 06 might recognize this as the level I'm porting into Sonic Generations. :P Hope you enjoy, and if you did, please leave a like/comment!
the reasons I like this game so much its just because I love to see sonic run over the water sideways. that just looks fucking rad. and this stage is georgeus

I liked this game. I hardly came across big glitches, just minor bugs.

Eh same here, the least of glitching through floors especially, still run into a lot of weird framerate issues and passing through certain buildings, and a few others but not nearly as much as others.

As stupid as this sounds, I think Sonic 06 had the potential to be one of the best Sonic games. Had it been finished, I think it would have been a fun and memorable experience. Unlike many other Sonic titles, you can see the ambition SEGA still had back then. Look at that Waterfall sequence! That shit is one of the most iconic and memorable sequences in Sonic history and it's in THE MOST BROKEN GAME IN THE FRANCHISE! What would it have been like had it been completed?! Every bad thing about this game, even the story, could have been great had it been finished. Yes i said the story because everything Is subject to change in development, who knows what would have changed to that as well?

Joseph Franc doesnt sound stupid it WAS true this game was 3 and Knuckles failed. Both 3k and 06 had big vision but one was rushed. While 3k was split so you could get full story. ALL bad Sonic games have potential to be good even BOOM remember old Synergy trailers Boom failed because being rushed and the weak wii u

Yeah cuz I wish they developed Sonic 06 more then Sonic and the Secret Rings so then 06 wouldn't be glitchy at all
What they should have done when they were told the game was unfit for release:
-Scrap the engine they were working with and salvage the assets
-Have the dev team focus on finishing Secret Rings
-Restart development in the Hedgehog Engine
-Give the team at least 2 and a half years to develop the game
-Beta test it thoroughly
-Release the game as Sonic Reborn
It's hard to put Sonic 06 and Speed Run in the same title due to the loading screens

yeah i was lucky to barely get glitches. The only glitches i ran into were in mach speed section
Yeah ik its because stupid mach speed sections that i broke the cd. I was really REALLY young when i got sonic 06 brobally 8 or 7 now im 13
People dont just hate it for the glitches, that would be silly. Check out Clements review of the game to know why its REALLY bad
Its only good if you know how the glitches work. If you use the glitches to your advantage, then its pretty enjoyable.

I mainly love it for the direction and story it was going for and it was adventure like as well. I even have a few ideas for a Mario and Sonic adventure and the gameplay should be like this, but without the glitches. Too bad sega won't take that risk again.

This level is just filled to the brim with alternate pathways.
it is useful in many ways one is, that you can attack people on the ground more quickly. Sonic 06 added the new power of going through walls and either objects of sorts.

Haha. Anytime. You and DsS are the main reason I want to become a member of the speed run community. I've had hours of fun trying to emulate your runs and failing miserably. On the other hand, I need more practice as well. But yeah, I look up to you so it's fun to see stuff like this. It's better than TAS's in my opinion.
I think it's because most people (including myself) didn't know you could cancel it like that. I still used it on long stretches of nothing but not like you're doing here. Great run!
Personally, I'd like to see a Tropical Jungle speed run with Sonic. There are so many paths in that 2nd segment.

They didn't think of it, they just made a gigantic area set to run-on-wall collision and didn't bother making it only cover the area you're actually supposed to run on

There's no charge timer. The spindash goes at exactly the same speed regardless of how long you charge it for.

Individual level runs use the in-game timer for most games which have an in-game timer. You usually won't see real time except for full-game runs or timerless games.
I could improve at least the mach speed section if I did this again. :P Thanks though.
I see what you did there, your time is legit but your score in each new level is 0. So you cut out your death plays and put all of your success plays together.
Just pointing that out there. Nice video by the way, kingdom valley is my favorite level.
Lol I don't blame them, my best one life run is 5m 22s. The only way of turning this into an S rank is by keeping the rings throughout, 3:25 kinda messes all that up.

Probably because with a few exceptions like Wii Unleashed or Sonic Advance 3, the ranks are always based on score, precisely to avoid getting easy S ranks via glitches in speedrunning. Ignoring everything like crazy has that effect on SA2 and Heroes too: you are supossed to kill enemies, get rings and whatnot to improve your score, not rush through things.

The reason why the game gave him a B is because the ranking system is based off points. Time bonuses count, but the game intends for you to beat enemies without restarting for the best ranking. Along with rings, and a great time. You need to be a perfectionist to get an S in some levels.

Still, the red gem kinda screwed up the in-game timer, so a separate proper timer should've been employed to calculate the actual time it took (when Parax was actually in control, of course).
Other than that, damn impressive.
Back before 06, the spindash was effective all the time.

Of course it's possible. A lot of these gem powerups are broken beyond belief and can be used to bypass large parts of the stage, ESPECIALLY the sky gem and purple gem.
Nah, the light dashes were fine. I'm talking about not getting hit at 3:27.
Runs like this actually make the game look really fun imo.

The gems are supposed to consume that gauge, which you're supposed to be able to build back up by killing enemes. It doesn't actually work though.

I think Generations is the only exception.

I think that's because you have to stand perfectly still to use it and you can't jump off it to use it as a dash jump.
