I’m 58 and just got my first dog. People used to make me roll my eyes the way they acted with their animals. But now. Uuuummm. My little doggy is. Y sweet baby!!! She has loved me no matter what! I act like the people I used to get mad at lol.
I feel ya, I couldn't understand human love for cats and dogs until I got my furbabies!

After becoming ill and physically disabled I was forced to move back in with my parents.
I am bed Ridden often and have very little mobility. I wanted another dog for companionship and have owned Boxers throughout my life.
However, I knew I could never provide the exercise that Boxers need. So I needed to find a dog with low exercise needs and a physically smaller size so After much research, I bought a French Bulldog.
Getting my French Bulldog "Luna" was the best thing I could have done. She is so easy to care for and wants nothing more than to be with me at all times. She is happy to lay around with me all of the time and occasionally zoom around the house and make me laugh while clowning it up for me.
She was the best "Medicine" that I could have ever had! French Bulldogs are really great companions for someone in my condition. So if you or a Loved one is in the same situation as me, look into these dogs.

Except for some light jabs Greg threw at Pelosi and AOC the segment was about pets and the love the owners had for them. Trump derangement syndrome is a real affliction "a mental condition in which a person has been driven effectively insane due to their dislike of Donald Trump, to the point at which they will abandon all logic and reason."
Might want to ask yourself "why am I not handing Trump a bill instead of letting him live rent free in my head?" Finally John Balnis I've told you before to seek professional help and to stay away from children.

I had a Australian Shepherd that lived to the age of 21. Oldest living dog I've known to this day.

My wife will bring home a rescue that's exceptionally timid. I'll work on the dog to make friends and build trust, and it will bond so hard to me that she can't place it with anyone. I think she does it on purpose.

I agree about dogs and the love they give you. I have six dogs, three of them were strays. I adopted them from the street. My latest is a pup. What a handful she is. She sleeps on my bed. She also steals my socks. I bought her a toy but she prefares my socks.
Ditto, I have 6 too. Alotta work. So worth it.

I hunt waterfowl. Retrievers are in my opinion "man's greatest accomplishment".

Dog's do have memory. My daughter was in charge of feeding and she ONE TIME dropped this huge metal dog bowl on he floor. It made a crap-ton of noise and my bully ran for the hills. Every single day, twice a day at feeding time for the rest of his life, if he was present he would flee, if he wasn't around, he'd stay that way until my kid had cleared the area. Memories of elephants, they have. It's grudges they have zero concept of. It's something they have to be taught.
They have great memories, and great sense of direction. I've had dogs that haven't been to a place in 8 years, and start getting excited a few miles away after sleeping on a several hour drive

hate to say it but his behavior after the bowl incident is a kind of grudge. Sounds like he will never get over your kid doing it and that is textbook grudge.

@@ntvypr4820 Which is why I said it has to be taught. He was a rescue found tied to a fence at 5 months old without food and water. I worked at a kennel where he was boarded by a rescue group and he adopted me. He had behavior quirks and I learned a lot about body language in dogs because of him. He was a bit neurotic. He had a nervous wag, where he kept his tail low and wagged short wags while his hackles were raised. He'd break out in hives when my step son's seeing eye dog was visiting. He would posture the other dogs into corners or their crates. I don't know what happened to him prior to him adopting me, but I do know he required surgeries to his knee. He had pins put in. He also had surgery to his sinus. So he had a hard life before coming to me for the remainder of it. But my point was about a dog's memory. Jesse had the memory of an elephant.

Whether intentional or not, this is the most poignant message we could learn from our pets. Our family dog is a pug and my daughter has a beautiful cat. One of my sons has a guinea pig and my wife has fish. They all teach us one lesson: unconditional love.

I had a wonderful dog for 15 years who would greet me every single morning as if it were the greatest day ever with a happy dance! I can still feel his presence in my home and I am grateful to God for that!

Greg, most Pit Bulls are good dogs. My late dog was probably Shar-pei Lab, and got along with Pits, and other dogs cats too. She caught lots of birds, pigeons and chickens. She even caught a Mongoose once. Dogs are good, congratulations Greg.

@@echofoxtrot2.051 They were brought here in the 19th Century in an attempt at rat control. They keep different hours than rats, and munched on native birds instead. Legend is a Hawaiian stevedore tried to pet a "Cute" one being shipped to Kauai, and was nipped so he threw their cage into the harbor there, preventing their arrival there. They are said to not be good pets.

I rescued my Sierra 18 years ago and trained her to be a cardiac alert 🐶 🐶 she retired in 2018 but had to un-retire in 2020. Now that airlines and I live in free FL and I don't have to wear a mask, she has retired and enjoying life.

Chickens aren't bad either if you can have them, and they are productive. I don't really consider them pets but I love my birds and they pretend to love me to get treats.

When my German shepherd passed away I never ever got another dog, I couldn't, Heidi was my bestest friend ever. So I decided to collect cats and do massive amounts of feral cat rescue!!! Xxxxxooooo
Love that. My mom has been doing cat rescue for 40 years, many of them being feral. My wife and I, along with our kids are more into dogs, with each of us having different rescues, including our Giant Schnauzer Heidi.
