I'm 70 years old, and still play D&D. This was the first adventure I ever ran as a DM in back in 1979, and it brings back such great memories. Back then, I even used some of the monsters that were suggested for the garden room that were suggested in this video. Great nostalgia!!! Keep them coming!
I'm now running Palace of the Silver Princess solo, with AI as the DM. Going smoothly so far! When I'm finished, I'll watch the final part of your video.
Ran this as DM in like 6th grade, first stint as DM. Oh little did I know! lol Great stuff and a truly excellent piece for leading the aspiring young and new DM down the path.
@@RPGmodsFan I always sort of imagined it as being under the castle back when I ran it, but truth be told you're right! They don't actually say that 8>D
@@RPGmodsFan yes very useful indeed. More than you know ;). also on a side note the guys and I are a special group. We play without a DM. We use a GM emulator and tons of random tables.. and it works fine. Thus we can all be players... ( if the guys don't have time I simply play solo using the afore mentioned tools). ;)
Thank you very much, for all the info, i really appreciate it, Im going to use the idea of a disgruntled guard, who hasnt been paid gives or sells the party the map to the compound, Great video! keep it up
Random campaign idea: When I was a kid I kit bashed together modules and made my campaign world. Here's an idea on how to do that. This dungeon is the remains of a fort of two famous adventurers. So have maps and rumors about other dungeons in the treasure hordes of this dungeon, notes and such of Rogane and Zelligar. Also, have clues that NPCs in other modules, such as the Mad Hermit, or Peltar the Mage, or Rufus the Captain of the Guard, once adventured in this dungeon long ago, and have maps and rumors of other dungeons as well.
Like the idea. I take the Dragon Age Origins approach when it comes to DMing. I give the Players 3/4 choices (D&D mods) of where they can go adventuring in, so that the whole campaign does not feel like a railroad adventure/campaign.
Agreed! It's almost like a Narrator or the Original Author talking giving us cliff notes and trivia. I love it! And not just for the cliff notes and trivia. It's pure, and Old School as it gets.
This was my first DM experience in the early 80s as well - ironically I have B1-3 (and the B1 update in 1981 you mention). I also have the original B2. Was not aware they reprinted a version for 5e so will have to look into that. Does the update provide further details (treasure and monsters) or is it just a literal reprint of the original material? Also can I get your context for why this module would be best suited in Faerun in the indicated area? Just looking to understand your reasoning.
The whole point is for the listener to add character, personality, and a voice, to the NPCs in these adventures. The plainer more computer like your voice is, the easier it is for me to make the adventure my own. This aint reading rainbow yall! Lighten Up!
@@RPGmodsFan Your Channel, but why? If I want jokes, I'll watch a comedy sketch. If I want some cool re-enactment,drawings, or some clever jokes to go with my review, I would check out Seth, Jon, or CapCourage, and I do, frequently. However, I can live vicariously through your reviews, without doing all the work. Instead of reacting to humor, or cool drawings, or even a sexy voice, instead I have to make all that stuff on my own, so in turn you actually draw out the best creativity in all of us, and hopefully others see this as well.
@@kristophersmotherman6114 Oh Wow! Thanks! My mindset has always been to make DM Prep videos for the modules (i.e. make the lives of DMs easier). Again, Thank You.
LOL. Believe it or not, that is my voice. Yes, I know I would sound better if I did not read off a script (that I wrote). When I was younger, I had a bad habit of slurring my words. Because of my fear of slurring words, I try to speak each word individually. Now, I am trying to get out of that habit.
RPGmodsFan I also has speech problems as a child, now however I talk to fast and have to slow down when I talk to people. I'm the real life Boomhauer from King of the Hill.

Thanks for the comment. :-) I first started playing D&D in 1982, and, yes, I was the DM. I have become, pretty much, a forever DM since.
You rock bro! I look forward to more classic takes in 2024, thank you.
Thanks. Hope you like my other TSR D&D Module walkthroughs. 😀

To me, the B1 Mod is designed like a dungeon, which, to me, does not make sense, since Quasqueton is supposed to be a castle.

Such a helpful video from a DM's perspective. Thanks for the tips!
Thanks, made these videos in order to DM Prep my own games.
I really appreciate the info you provide.. all of the little details and even in some cases trivia. gr8 job. keep them vids coming!
Thanks. It is my hope that DMs will especially find my videos useful and helpful.

Good video on B1, well done!
Thanks. Unfortunately, UA-cam does not see it that way, and I may be forced to either trim down my videos or delete them.
I really like your videos, and I have zero problems with your voice. Huzzah!
