Traffic shaping : A FortiGate provides quality of service (QoS) by applying bandwidth limits and prioritization to network traffic. Traffic shaping is one technique used by FortiGate to provide QoS. A basic approach to traffic shaping is to prioritize higher priority traffic over lower priority traffic during periods of traffic congestion. This provides a stabilizing effect for important traffic while throttling less important traffic.

Hello Sir, Thank for your videos, very informative. I just want to ask if all users in that group for example there are 10 users in 5mbps group, they will get 5mbps per user? or all of them will divide the 5mbps speed.

Hi,if you config per ip shaper each ip get 5 mbps , but if you config shared shaper 5 mbps limit share between all of the users in the group.

can I configure bandwidth at fortinet to control download with a speed and upload with another speed not the same one ,
My question is not assign the same BW for upload and download at users ,
I wanna control download with Bw and upload with another BW for user so
Is there is any option for this at fortior or it must be the same BW for upload and download related to the same user ?
