Pazuzu was considered a demon controlling the west wind in Babylon times who was dangerous yet also scared away other demons. Nile does a good song about that as well. Good stuff!

@@capitanblack2001 en un comunicado Johnson dijo que está mezclando lo "mejor" de algunos discos, creo mencionó Lemuria, sirio y esos chidos, dijo que se inspiraria en ellos para hacer estos discos. Esto porque según el ya terminó de hacer todo lo que quería con el álbum ópera que sacó. No creo que vuelva a sacar un nuevo concepto, que es lo que tanto nos gustaba.
Eso pasa con todos los artistas con los años, lo que necesita therion es liberarse de thomas y demás miembros que no aportan nada bueno. Sitra Ahra es el último álbum bueno que retomar. Kings of Edom, etc, se acabó esa etapa de grandeza y therion comienza e escucharse como los demás o del monton, es decir ya no se destaca. Triste pero es la realidad. Yo no comprare los discos de leviathan pq no pertenecen a la discografía anterior, ya no me enorgullezco de ellos en la actualidad y me da temor escuchar esto en vivo, no lo disfrutaría.
The song writing and performance is Lemuria/Sirius B level. The sound of the guitars is really weak though. It's some amp simulator and thinned out/compressed. The drums its a non-metal drummer with a drum kit that doesn't sound metal- also compressed sound. The hellscore choir is good but not as good as Lemuria/Sirius b. It's all mixed very clean and thin like a pop song and not a full metal sound. Though Lemuria/Sirius b had a weird mixing too I came to like it. But Leviathan 1 and 2 just the overall sound and mix is too poppish. If they did something like a live version without the compression and with real guitar amps etc. might sound better. The songs themselves are really good.
@@raymondkidwell7135 I agree, songs on Levathan I and II are more on the pop side mostly because the way they are mixed. Guitars and drums don't have a power and vocals are too much in front. It's not symphonic metal anymore, but it's still pretty good rock music.

I wonder how this band feels about the fact they they INVENTED Symphonic Metal and then had to see other bands like Nightwish and Epica become worldwide successes while Therion has never really broken out of central Europe. [STOP PRESS ok this isn't true - though less known in Anglophone countries, they are big in Latin America - fair comment in the replies] Well it's clearly not getting them down too much as they're still going into their FIFTH decade in the business. It helps having a dedicated fanbase that will follow them forever. Anyway, this tune is a fine number, immaculately produced, strong melody, good structure, great musicianship. Its obscure theme and not being too concerned about a hook will not win them any new fans, but the Therion diehards will love it. My score: Good 3*
Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't Therion a lot bigger in South America and Mexico than they are in Europe? Judging from their DVD's they play a lot bigger shows there than in Europe. I don't have any first hand info on it, but to me looking in from the outside it didn't look like Therion even attempted to get big. If you want worldwide success like Nightwish, you need to write commercial songs that a wider audience can listen to. Probably have a beautiful frontgirl as well. Therion got rid of Martina and then did two totally opposite of commercial albums like Deggial and Secret of the runes. If I was working at the record company I would have pulled my hair trying to market those after the quite commercial Vovin.

A ti no te defraudara, para los que tenemos 40 años y arrancamos casi desde los inicios de la banda SI nos defraudo. PARA MI todo lo que vino después de Gothic Kabbalah fue bastante malo sacando Les Fleur de Mal ( Que es un cd de covers). Christian Vidal me parece que nunca encajo en la banda.
