  • This is an updated/revisited video of how to make a layered flower bead (also known as a dahlia bead or an on-mandrel implosion flower). I may do another video to show it's "sister bead", the pineapple or pine cone bead, which is essentially the same, just starts with a longer base and has more layers of petals in a longer, final bead.
    I hope you enjoy! :)

    Jeannie Cox was such a talented teacher. She made this bead look so doable. I was sad to learn that she passed away in March of 2019.

    Wonderful detailed video, Jeannie. I've always wondered exactly how to make these layered petal beads. Thank you so much for taking the time to instruct those of us who can't afford the expensive courses offered by others. You Rock!

    Jeanne, your videos are just amazing! I really appreciate your sharing your expertise with us less-experienced beadmakers. It is much better than a "paper" tutorial and you have really mastered the art of making instructional videos. Many many thanks!

    Jeannie you do awesome work. I will be trying some of your techniques. Can you tell me where you purchase your supplies? Glass and tools? Thanks

    • @jeannie291
      @jeannie291  6 років тому

      I buy almost all my supplies - glass and tools online, altho the local studio I work with in Phoenix does carry some, too, so I've recently been purchasing from them also. There are many great suppliers out there. Frantz Art Glass, Mountain Glass Arts, Howaco, ABR Imagery, Sundance Glass, Arrow Springs (especially for tools, mandrels and bead release - but they also have awesome silver glass!), etc.

    Hello Jeannie. I just ordered my Lampwork kit and was wondering if there's anything that doesn't come with the kits that I will need ?

    I think I'm in love! Sorry Jeannie I meant with the beautiful process of glass making! I really love glass beads and I bought the book with these beautiful pieces of art and thought I have to do this! Is this a hobby that anyone can afford or is it a pretty expensive hobby, in your opinion? BTW your video is elprimo and i thank you you've inspired!

    What clear are you using to cover these CIM colors?

    • @jeannie291
      @jeannie291  6 років тому +1

      For these, I am using the new Vetrofond clear that just came out. I prefer soft Lauscha tho - - it's much cleaner. And then of course, Zephyr is the best, but more expensive. :)

      Ah, nice to know. I made one last night .... twas awful. Trying again today.

    • @jeannie291
      @jeannie291  6 років тому

      Oh no!! Did you smear the dots when you put the clear down?

    • @Babette17C
      @Babette17C 6 років тому

      No - the dots were too small and next row didn't cover the one before it.

    • @jeannie291
      @jeannie291  6 років тому +1

      Oh, I see. Yeah, the dots should melt in so that there's about half the dot width of clear space in between each dot (if that makes sense). An easy fix, tho! Just add more glass to your dots. :)
