You are right the marks are not passed on from person to person they have to be earned. All the breathing styles have their own unique mark that goes with that breathing style. And you can’t pass on a mark to someone that uses a different breathing style then that person. For example water style breathers can’t pass on there mark to someone who uses mist breathing. It’s not possible 2 different marks and 2 different breathing styles not possible.
