for absolute beginners that feel intimidated by this or other "easy/simple" stuff, there are few things u might have overlooked. keep in mind hands and fingers feel too smol bc u have no flexibility. start stretching your fingers regularly. a little warmup and stretching goes along way before playing muting strings, is also correlated with not enough celluse (coral skin) on your fingertips, this will build the more u play, so does precision. in addition u will most likely press harder than needed, because its new movement and bc your fingers are too soft. with more coral skin, less pressure is needed, both contribute to more endurance and less pain. u struggle with finger independence bc your brain needs to acquire muscle memory first. do finger independence exercise regularly with or without the guitar. do not play the guitar for at least 30 minutes after u shower; skin soaks up water resulting in a more likelyness to damage already built celluse and skin on your fingertips. if your fingertips feel rly dry, have tears etc, apply vaseline. avoid chewing or biting off loose skin on your finger tips, apply vaseline. a better starting point imo would be "simple songs with standard chords". there are tons of great songs with just basic chords. ull build celluse, dexterity, endurance, finger independence and also train your ear. do that before u try more "random chords". once u have a foundation, you will see that other "new" and "simple" chords will be way simpler to get into. dont get intimidated and put the guitar aside bc u dont feel like getting nowhere. analyse your weaknesses and built up your skill slowly, attentive and most importantly, be consistent about it. 20 mins a day will get u further than 4 hours streight once a week. last but not least, the majority of learning doesnt happen during practise. about 70% is after practise, when your brain builds new connections and muscle memory. or simply repairs damaged muscle or skin to become more resistant to the stress u put on your body, just like when working out. so picking up your guitar more frequently but for a shorter period of time will get u further than a long practise session with days or weeks of break inbetween.

For someone like me who's been just strumming for years, this is cool stuff. I picked it up right away - simple fingerpicking patterns and great open sounding non traditional chords. Thanks and keep up the great work!
For those of you guys having trouble with the first chord I did too at first but if you look closely his thumb is tucked behind the neck of the guitar. Some guitar players don't do that and there thumb is showing above their guitar neck, this doesn't allow you to stretch your hand that much. So try to move your thumb behind the guitar neck to give your fingers more room to stretch for the chord. Think about how when you hold your guitar the neck is horizontal and your fingers are vertical. The lower you move your thumb (tucked behind the neck) the more room you have, the higher your thumb is the less room you get. I hope this helps!
There is not such a thing like too fat or too short fingers, its just practicing it right. you are right, the thumb must be behind the neck of the guitar, toward the lower part of it, also, if you find out that you can't stretch enough, try moving the thumb behind the neck toward the pinky finger, the movement becomes natural with time and practicing.
That was absolutely gorgeous. Just the 1st 3 Chords blew-me-away. I love hypnotic & melodic fingerpicking. Enjoyed your lesson. Stay Safe everyone. oNe LovE from NYC

Sir ....this lesson was jsst wow.💝...i got lot of compliments by playing this.😊 thanku very much.😊
That intro was absolutely beautiful! thanks for inspiring me to go practice.
Beautiful melody....so hauntingly beautiful.
Just amazing, I hope I don’t loose your link thank you !!!
I'm glad to say during this lockdown period of two months I learned your finger picking song thank you so much I expect more video from you
*playing the video intro*
Me look at my guitar
My guitar : don't even think about that!
Just do it bro😎👊
Slowly catching up on watching all of your videos and I couldn't have come across this one at a better time. I've been playing guitar over 30 years but have only recently started to teach myself how to fingerpick and learning how to play this beautiful chord sequence is making the journey that much more interesting
Ok, wait...
I'll come back in 2 weeks when my finger nail is longer
Haha I did the exact same thing whenever I was learning my first fingerpicking song. It kinda sucks having to grow out your nails but it makes it 10x easier to learn. Once you get the song down, you’ll come to a point where you don’t even need to have nails to play the song easily.

I just cut my nails and saw this tutorial :/
Been a year

Thank you for leaving a legacy for all to learn from and remember you by. Your awesome….
I am learning well. Thank you, Marco !!!
These videos are how I am learning guitar, thanks for providing free quality easy to follow tutorials!
I thought to myself "what magic is this" at 0:22 then I realized- the power of editing
Mubeen Mahomed What editing?
You mean from like 0:30 - 0:33?
How did he edit that????
Savage 1 he used his pinky. U just can't see it.
Can you tell us how did he use it?

Such a lovely and deep emotional sound is this ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
I always learn what you show us then I throw it all away and make it my own, thank you, God bless 🙏
Lovely tune Marco one of my favorites from your offerings thank you.
I have been adding more notes, expanding the piece very enjoyable!
Marco is one of the best guitar teacher. I would like to thank you brother.
I'm on day one and I managed to do it and make it sound exactly the same, I'm really slow at transitioning my fingers but it sounded right, I'm excited to see how far i can get with it in the future,
Do you know the chords his playing?
Recovering from surgery on my leg and sick of video games, came across your vid and picked up my guitar and learned this in a couple hours...inspired me to play again. Thank you 💜💜💜
Woahh just found this.. Wish i found this sooner.. This sounds beautiful... Mann....... This really makes the mood while staring at the night sky ..
Grazie Marco! You’re the best teacher. I am going to use this as my daily practice routine
Another great lesson. Thanks for sharing!
So much going on it just blows my mind how one can coordinate it all into such a beautiful melodic tune.
I kid you not just got this guitar today for Christmas, it's an acoustic, and I saw easy in the title and I ended up writing the whole thing down, I'm going to keep trying at this and see if I can get it 😌👌
Oki Doki good luck
Tell me if you did it ! I'm a beginner, started yesterday .
I can happily say that I can play this song after a couple weeks of practicing. This is my first real song I have been able to play all the way through without messing up. Thank you for the great tutorial.
I practice for about a month now and still can't do it. How long have you been playing the guitar overall?
@@pawel7196 I have only been playing guitar for a couple months, but played ukulele off and on for about 10 years, which really helps.
Great progression and sound! Thanks for sharing:)
Your knowledge of the notes on the guitar fretboard in combination with chords is incredible.
Congratulations Marco 100,000 subscribers! A thoughtful title of a video commands attention - the quality of it's content gets you subscribers! =}
Good day dear Marco, I ve clicked a like button from 0:00 knowing that this video will be the best!
I can't get passed the first cord, my finger blocks the b string no matter what I do but I'm not quitting, I'll keep practicing.
Same here brother.
Keep going and good luck
good job Naruto xD
Luis bruh
How long have you been playing for since u wrote the comment ?
Luis calm down.. why even come here with your religious dogma. If you want me to quote the Bible-- for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you."
And when he was demanded of the Pharisees, when the kingdom of God should come, he answered them and said, The kingdom of God cometh notwith observation.
Let that sink in. Read it over and over until you can understand it with your heart.
Thank You Marco, your lessons are pure gold !
Just freaking awesome man! It hits me. Woowwwww
I just run you through my amp and play harmony after harmony along with you . .Very inspirational .
Thanks .
I love going and watching beginner videos now that I'm good, it feels so fresh. Seeing a beginner guitarist play something interesting and creative because they DON'T know what they're doing yet is always totally awesome. The fact that you can put yourself in the headspace of a beginner and write something so simple yet beautiful is really impressive to me
I'm fairly new and so what helped me was just practicing the picking pattern open untill I could do it without thinking. Then I came back and learned the chords. Love it thank you.
Anybody who's every tried this knows the struggle of playing without touching the B string. 🥵
I know. Lower the thumb, it should help. Good luck :)
@@MarcoCirillo Yea man, tried it. It helps. Thanks. :)
@@MarcoCirillo This is soooooo simple 😒
Dude I have only been listening to your lessons only 25 minutes you have already shown me things that I thought I knew! Kind of tripy, I love the way you slow things down so much easier to Follow.🤓👍👍✌️
There is something ineffable about this chords progression..Three years later, I'm still speachless..Marco is so inspiring in the way he can speak his mind through the guitar..
ineffable, yes. Ineluctable
i think my guitar life at picking will be on this channel only. as i know all the basics but picking great tunes thats i i ever wanted and going to different people confuses matters so i now have found my youtube tutor thankyou
I was able to play it finally. Now I know something lol the sound you hear in this video is manipulated by marco. He added echos and affects to make it sound this beautiful. Once you play it in your guitar with no effects, it sounds ok.
Dude... But that's just how the equipment for guitar works. Just buy some things and it will sound more beautifull. Even Stairway to Heaven sounded ok before i bought converter
@@jakubciazkowski3516 true
Your tone must not be that good then or you’re playing on a crappy guitar. He adds some effects yeah, but it still sounds pretty on its own.
Just been 20 seconds here for the first time and I liked saved added to playlist subscribed and turned on the notifications too....
Great Channel
0:22 which notes you played it sounds so good 😊 does anyone understand the notes over there
Ye, if somebody can tell what was that, pls write it down, would awesome, thx
same chord but play the e string once then play it open
Went through all the comments for the answer... still looking. @Selen Did you figure it out?
after few seconds on this melody - and I just clicked subscribe immediately... not often happens. U R genius Marco
I'm so glad that this vid was reccomended for me, then when I watched and hear the intro it.. It has an angelic sound waaahh 😍. now I can even practice this on my guitar. btw, newbie here 😊.. I'm your new subscriber btw hi hi! 🙋
Wow… beautifully, melodic exercise. This is the best way to practice. Your making music while learning/exercising. So much better then running scales/arpeggios over and over like a robot. Thanks so much for this!
Im a beginner and i can play that in approximatly two hours, this is a great tutorial
Show off
i am looking for something to play at my daughters babtism, THANK YOU VERY MUCH. you just made it "beautifullier" :-P
Awesome lesson, I am glad I found your channel
Can hardly wait for my old tired fingers to even move 1/2 that fluid...
Awesome Man
my fingers screech like a tiger on the slides haha
That transition from E minor to D over F# chord is so tough! Thanks for the lesson though. I'll do it eventually.!
Your second section is so beautiful, that it even hurts.
I know right. I was crying while learning this at the public Library
So good! At the right level of learning for me. Thanks Marco!
Absolutely amazing tutorial, new subscriber here! 🙋♀️
good subs are yummy... only subway subs tho lol
MAN! I have to say: your videos are the BEST ! They are super cool !!! As u actualy are !!! Clear explanation and good camera angles ! Thank u many times! :)
Anybody else thinks it sounds really emotional?
You are an amazing teacher. Right on!
