    That bendable plug is GENIUS. I've been working with Sennheiser wireless mics for years, and I can confirm that the plugs are always facing the wrong way.

    Great tips, one thing though:
    Regarding the splitters, just be aware if you need to have Phantom power to a mic, it is only the Direct Out besides the input that is able to pass that through.
    The two outputs on the back are transformer balanced and thus DC/power wise isolated from the input.

      Yup that’s the one thing that sucks about my rack. But I have a portable phantom power device that works great actually, and I use that now 👍this one: ua-cam.com/video/cFqnYsloQc8/v-deo.html

    Scott. Thanks for your great videos. Very helpful for me. I’ve tested a lot of AAA and AA batteries and I have found the Eneloop Pro gray batteries to be best both in retaining charge in storage and longevity in use. They are more expensive but worth every penny. Blessings!!

    I have a tip for you regarding rechargeable batteries. Sanyo Eneloop. I did a comparison test once between various rechargeable ones and non-rechargeables. I tested using my AKG guitar wireless sender. Believe it or not, the Sanyo Eneloops SOUNDED BETTER. Yes, I could hear a noticeable difference. If I had to describe it in words I would say the signal sounded smoother and more stable.
    I also compared good quality cables and ended up with the Klotz Funkmasters. Their La Grange series was also great, but a little fatter in the low-mids/bass and I preferred the more mid restricted Funkmasters....

    Have you ever considered to use one or maybe even two Behringer SD8/SD16 as a snake? You can cascade them, they have coboplugs and two of them support Hi-Z signals - no DIs needed. On top they can indeed deliver phantom power and you could use the outputs as direct out to split to FoH. They don't need cases because of the rubber bumpers, can be rackmounted if you wish and optional there are handy bag to give you a little more protection and a little storage more.

    I like the stage snake, so tired of crap all over the floor and running 50' XLR to the guy furthest from mixer. I'm learning so much from your posts!

    About the stage snake, i saw some on Aliexpress that are 4 Xlr to 1 ethernet, so you have 1 stage box close to you and one near the mixer or splitter, and instead of that massive multicable you send 1 ethernet cable carrying 4 mono balanced signals (the ethernet cable NEED to be shielded, the shield is the common ground for all channels)

    Excellent tips here, Scott! I think just having everything organised like this really makes your life easier as a musician, for live shows, rehearsals and in the studio. There's nothing worse than having a bunch of disorganised cables and other equipment thrown into bags and boxes etc. I'm going to start using these tips asap with my band setup.

    Hey Scott, something to pay attention to when it comes to rechargeable batteries: nickel metal hydride battery (NiMH ) are actually lower voltage than traditional alkaline or lithium ion batteries! NiMH AA batteries are only at 1.2 volts and the alkaline/lithium ion are 1.5 volts. If a piece if gear uses 2 AA batteries instead of getting 3 volts you will only be getting 2.4 volts! That makes a huge difference on things like wireless mics which often use 2 AA batteries. Stick with lithium ion for rechargeables. You will hear a big jump in sound quality when the wireless gear is getting full voltage instead of being 0.6 volts short!

    Ah, ok. S16 has even more features but it needs a case or rack. Look up SD8 or SD16. But I already saw your video on the Midas 4816sth so you don't need no SD8 anymore

    So I just bought a 16 input stage snake for my Xr18. Basically... would you be able to explain how I'd run that on stage with the art 3 way splitter? Would I got Mic>Stage box>3way split>Xr18>then from 3 way split back to house stage box? Or should I just sell my stage box and buy the splitter so that foh un plugs his/her stage box goes into my 3 way split and then I provide another loom that goes back into his stage box.

    I am having issues with my TP Link Router but we are to set it up as an Access Point I gather? Yet, that requires a modem connection.
    Can't always ensure to have network at each venue.
    I am trying to set up Behringer XR18 by the way, or am I missing a step?
    Thanks for your videos btw.ppl

      I’m not good with setting up routers tbh, but you should be able to use the app with that one, that’s how I did it and I still have it working 🤘

    • @TheCawdorgraves
      @TheCawdorgraves 6 місяців тому

      @@ScottUhlMusic the app seems to be in demo mode until it is connected. Seems a basic set up steps is still needing to figure out. I have enjoyed seeing the next stages. Network should be straight forward yet must admit seems to be proving a challenge before can get started.

    Hey Scott I know you Dave about the sennheiser iem system and you like the phenyx pro iem system too! I have a galaxy audio as1100 system that I can’t seem to work out getting a good clear frequency even though I change bands and I’m only 20-40ft away from the unit with a clear line of site. How do you make sure your system is clear for you guys even with multiple units? Is it as simple as the scan features in both units? Thanks man!

    • @ScottUhlMusic
      @ScottUhlMusic  Рік тому

      Scanning is the best for sure. You can go more advanced with like a frequency manager, but that’s probably unnecessary. Keep in mind the more frequencies you have available the better the chance of finding a clear signal. Using cheaper gear means less available channels, but from what I understand about your setup, you should be fine 👍

    12 great ideas, thanks for the tip #1, we have a 9V power block that just never fits into the power conditioner properly, so that will solve that problem for us.
    I totally agree about the small router. We use the Apple Airport Express (2nd Gen) from 2012. The footprint inside our rack case is very small (3.75" x 3.75") and the range is great. it also has a 3.5mm out so if you use apple products you can AirPlay from your device to the router and plug that into your mixer to play set-break music or backing tracks or whatever.
    Thanks for your IEM videos/tips, two of our band mates use your under $100 wireless hack on stage and it works great.
