When I was at Texas A&M, I lived on Boyett Ave.--just a block away from where REK wrote this song.
Thank you
Lubys is a buffet style restaurant chain. All over Texas.
Mostly south Texas. I don't know of any north of Austin other than maybe a couple in the DFW area.
I love this song so much. Reminds me of my grandpa- an old bull if ever there was one.
It's so cool you're doing this version. The building that's on the cover is the sons of Hermann in Dallas. I was pretty much raised in that old building. The building is over 100 years old.
This is *the* version of the song. His albums "The Live Album" and "No. 2 Live Dinner" are terrific. I think "No. 2 Live Dinner" is on a very short list of definitive Texas Country albums. Please give "Five Pound Bass" a listen from that album.
Yeah. It's on there. BTW, what do you think is included in the list?
@@notabot3375 Ragweed are typically lumped in with Texas Country, though I wouldn’t call them country. If they are, I’d put their self-titled purple album on the list. Another great one is Here We Go, Pat Green’s live album.
Creager is a favorite of mine, but his best stuff is spread around on multiple albums, so I don’t have one of him for the list.
For Boland, I guess I would pick the Billy Bob’s live album or Dark & Dirty Mile.
Those are good. I think Lubbock on Everything by Terry Allen is way up there. Also, Songs about Texas by Gary P. Nunn. And Live at Antone's by Joe Ely. I think Lloyd Maines was on all of these albums. 😂
I like Creager a lot, too. Met him a few times and they were great.
It seems like the last few years Texas music is getting weaker, makes me sad.
This is the version any respectable Texan knows. The next logical step is to listen to Lyle Lovett’s version, which is also great.
You cried out 'CHEAP' about the quarter tip line but this is from the perspective of a poor college student. She still smiled. I knew better to tip well when I strayed from Sbisa.
