    I wish Nikon release an updated Zfc with IBIS and 4k60. This lens and the 26/28 makes this perfect for my travel needs.

    I got it for stills only, feels really great I think. PZ don't bother me too much, it is well implemented. This will be great for landscapes and architecture (in good light)

    According to some other online people this lens you can use the + or - magnify buttons to activate the zoom in or zoom out option for this lens while recording in video, however you have to turn on this feature first. Nikon on their website says the same. (The other method shown in this video of course, is turning the zoom ring on outside.) In the menu to activate the power zoom option: go to "g5 power zoom options" and turn on, then the magnify + or - buttons operates it on back, and you can set the speed in menu, and you may need the latest firmware to get this to work unless you bought the camera recently it may have latest firmware.

    On the zoom ring, will turning it, say, 1/3 of a turn always move the focus plane same ammount? Or is the amount of zoom tied to the amount of time you're turning the zoom ring?

    Thank you for sharing the experience, TCSTV. I would be interested to hear and see from you how this lens works with a 46MP FX body (that has IBIS) and potentially with the new Nikon video/zoom grip - and the video results thereof. The vlogging aspect is really nice, but I'm sure this lens has more potential than selfie recording.
    As you frequently shoot movies with two talking heads, there's another thing that would be nice for a video. I've seen some UA-cam videos by British Nigel Danson in the English and Scottish Atlantic coastal climate. With his FX Z camera(s), he records his voice - out there - with a wireless Sennheiser lavalier microphone. The audio results are impressive. How would you set this up with two of these microphones into a Z camera, each into their own audio track of stereo? No, not a "cheap" setup, but excellent results.

      The 24mm DX. Let's wait and see if it's at least 1.8 and not 2.8. If that ends up being the case I will get the Sigma 23 1.4 for Sony and adapt.

      If you need an 85 "full frame" (FX) effect, just buy the 50/1.8S. That's the sharpest lens out there. And not big. And not expensive. Wider angles is a bit more difficult. As you're only using the centre of an FX lens, you now have cut away all the vignetting and other "deterioration" towards the FX corners

    • @veeaa
      @veeaa Рік тому +1

      @@jpdj2715 While the 50mm 1.8S is a fantastic lens, in my opinion the Sigma 56mm 1.4 would be a better fit due to being smaller, almost as sharp, more affordable, faster and thus thinner DOF. The Nikkor would make sense if a full frame body is planned in the future.

    Would this lens be recommended for still only shooters? I like the 18-42 versatility, but don't know how the zoom will perform shooting stills only.

      Hi and thanks for watching. The zoom is pretty intuitive and certainly very useable for photography. Keep in mind that this is a wide or wider lens so the throw from 12mm to 28mm is not very far. Hope this helps. Thanks

    Then what crop factor will apply here ?

    • @DaveTCSTV
      @DaveTCSTV Рік тому +1

      Hi and thanks for watching. Nikon has a 1.5x crop factor when shooting with their APS-C cameras or with a full frame such as your Z6 II set to crop mode. The DX 12-24 with the 1.5x crop applied will be a 18-36mm equivalent. Thanks

      I use the 12-28mm on my Z6-2. With the crop factor it becomes an 18-42mm equivalent and file size drops to 3,936 x 2,624 pixels.

    • @okaro6595
      @okaro6595 9 місяців тому

      Yes, you'd get only about 11 megapixels. There are better options for full frame like Nikkor Z 17-28mm f/2.8 or Nikkor Z 14-30mm f/4 S. Sure the price is different.

      Where's the fuji equivalent of this lens? The only UWA zooms in X mount are the very expensive f/4 ones or the absurdly expensive f/2.8 one - there's no cheap UWA offering
