  • Finally doing a review on the 2021 Ibanez GRGR131EX-BKF i've had for a little while now.
Being Chinese made these guitars really do pack a lot of punch for their buck and I must say, I am very VERY surprised by this one.
More to come in the (enormously long name) Gio saga when i'll finally get round to swapping some stuff out and in of this one!
    video of upgrade is up!:

I just got this guitar last week and I'd say shocked was my first impression. This guitar was to be a home practice guitar and with as good as it sounds it may end up getting some live songs. This is a truly sweet guitar. Glad I got it..

I have the same Gio, but with red pickguard and accents. Got lucky at pawn shop and got it for half price with original soft bag included. As my first guitar I love the looks and play it every day. Gonna do my first string change now and see how it feels afterwards. Love your riff man.

@@bigmike9527 I got roto whites 11-54. They are a bit thicker than old ones, and if you plan on bending you are gonna have a bad time. Personally I love the feeling of a thicker 1st string and drop tunes are way more precise on Rocksmith. Pack also comes with an extra 1st string so if I brake it I can change it on the fly and buy a new set a bit later.

One doubt: Does it get full of fingerprints after playing? I say it because I often sweat when I play (bass) and as the paintjob has that matte finish I thought it would be kinda shit if that happened

    • @SteinG
      @SteinG  2 роки тому +2

it's not AS obvious as on a gloss finish but yeah.
I have pretty greasy/sweaty skin and fingers and it does tend to gloss up where you touch it.
I think it builds character on a guitar but hey, to each his own ;)

You won't go wrong with this one!
And if it's not completely up to your idea of what it should be, it's easily modifiable 😁
The Wizard neck I mention are some of the thinnest necks you can get by Ibanez.
This neck isn't a wizard neck but it's still fairly thin compared to Les Paul and fender necks so you'll be alright there 😉

    Great riffing. Interesting review.
    I'm still prejudiced towards GIO's.
Back in the days, those were notorious for being cheap and really bad. ..some were barely playable.
I'm sure, quality control has improved a whole bunch, since then.
But nowadays, there so many affordable guitars, that are totally giggable and really decently built.
Only reason i see to GIO, would be the Ibanez brand and design. But for that, i'd recommend to save up a little more, and go for an indonesian made Ibanez. Those aren't to expensive, either, but usually are really, really nice. imho.
