That entire area has so many interesting and different pockets of minerals. We have been camping near Blythe during the last few winters and have located some great spots for chalcedony and agates as well as thunder eggs throughout the area. Thanks for sharing.😉✌️
My friends and I dug geodes at the Hauser Beds many times in the 1990's. My best find was a 9 inch diameter one. A pal with a big rock saw cut it in half for me. Both halves are on display on my porch. They took home buckets of baseball size geodes.
We have been there many times over the years. I'm glad you were able to find some. I hope you able to see yhe intaglios north and northeast of Blyth. Keep haviing fun!! 😷⚒
Headed out there for my first time next week. Always found thunder eggs fascinating. Never know what you are going to find until you cut one open. Very informative video and explanation on how they are formed. Thanks!
That was very informative. Thanks! I'm new to rockhounding and learning a lot from your videos. If you ever want to rockhound a beach, San Diego had some major king tides this year that stripped away the sand leaving about a billion beautiful rocks...but it won't last long. Would happily play guide (and student) for a beach hounding expedition.
We live in the San Diego area, and you are absolutely correct about the beach rocks are gorgeous. One of our trips we found a 69 pound solid quartz rock. It is 15"x9"x9" and our flashlight shines all the way through on all sides.
that was so much fun! it would be a hoot to go out rockhounding with you and Dan. set me loose on a mountain side like that and you might find me a day later lol!
I feel like you just low key blew my mind, I don’t know if they are that common but that rock in the beginning was smooth cause it came from a fault line?? That’s insane to me!
If you haven't been already you should check out the mecca hills, beautiful slot canyons, including one called skeleton canyon which the san andreas fault runs through, really great geology and hiking, not much for collecting besides some gypsum minerals that precipitate out of the mud/clay hills
Thunderegg back =ryolite when ive been lookin for them look for the decomposed stuff and where the ground colour changes ,ive done well out of this method
You kept showing those dark reddish brown rocks in-frame but I didn't catch you mention what they are. What are they? I haven't seen anything like that here in the Midwest.
Can I adopt you as my daughter?? YOU have the exact enthusiasm that I do when finding rocks...😅 and you have taught me so much.. you do everything that I always wanted to
Much love to everyone and their families from Quartzsite Az USA currently 🤠💪🙏🏵️🤠
Wow!! So many pretties. My husband watched with me and he said “oh jeez, another you” 🤣🤣 Stay safe ✌🏼❤️😊🍀
I love your excitement when finding everything. I know the feeling. Collecting crystals brings sheer joy.
Thank you for saying what each rock/mineral is and explaining how geodes were formed. You’re an excellent teacher! Beautiful finds!❤

Nice geodes and thundereggs. Those geodes beds are way out there in the middle of nowhere. Thanks for the geology lesson on how they are formed.

@@catherinebittner2110That's crazy! I found a 7 lbs quartz rock with moss like inclusions but 69 lbs... 🤯
If you see me at the beach, come say hi. I'm at Torrey Pines a lot. I'll be the guy in the pirate hat dragging a bag of rocks.
Thank you for sharing! We were there in December but couldn't find the Hauser beds, so it was great to enjoy your trip vicariously!

Can you add a google maps GPS link of where you were primarily collecting?
I've been there many times and never have seen these! So I'm curious too
Nice to hear the sign is still there. I installed it in 2000, with BLM.
Elleny, It would be a fun day trip or campout for three days to go out there around the time of Quartzite next year.
Got some pretty ones!😊
