Walmart Manager Arrested After Caught Stealing $90,000 from Cash Registers

- Police Report: On 1/31/20, I responded to a Walmart location in reference to assisting Patrol with an employee theft. Upon arrival, I made contact with the loss prevention officer, who advised the following:
Over the course of the past month, the store’s till had been consistently short. They suspected one of their Customer Service Managers was stealing from the company. On 1/28/20, at approximately 12:30 am, the manager entered the store and logged into the computer. This drew attention because the manager was not scheduled to be at work that day. The loss prevention officer then reviewed the store’s surveillance footage and discovered the following:
After logging in on 1/28/20, the manager entered the store’s accounting office. At 12:32 am, they can be seen typing numbers into the computer that allows access to the “money recycler,” which is the store’s main bank drawer where the till originates. The manager can then be seen withdrawing cash and placing it and the corresponding receipt into a grey, bank-style cash bag. At 12:37 am, the manager walks out of the office with the bag, which is picked up by a second camera. They then walk out of that camera’s view and into another room. The room they walked into is the return room where returns are placed until they can be put back on the shelf. At 12:37:31 am, the manager walks back into view of the camera while still carrying the bank bag. They continue past that camera and into the customer service area, which is captured by a third camera. That camera reveals the manager placing the bag on the counter at 12:37 am and walking towards the front of the store.
According to the store’s accounting system, the manager made three (3) $1,000.00 transactions totaling $9,000.00.
After reviewing the footage, I made contact with the manager and read them their Miranda Rights. They elected to waive their rights and agreed to speak with me. The manager initially stated they did not remember the incident, so I showed them the video. They then admitted to placing the money in the bag and leaving the room. The manager initially denied taking the money but then recanted and stated they left it behind the counter. When asked why they would do that and if they were expecting someone else to pick it up, the manager refused to implicate anyone else.
While on scene, the loss prevention officer advised that the manager was also possibly responsible for other incidents. I then had patrol transport the manager to the Sheriff’s Office for further questioning. Upon arrival, I reminded the manager of their Miranda Rights and asked if they still wished to speak with me. The manager advised they did, so I questioned them about any other incidents. The manager admitted there were several other incidents but was unable to remember dates or amounts.
The total amount stolen by the manager is $86,543.00. The manager was then informed they were being charged with Organized Scheme to Defraud over $50,000. They were escorted to the Detention Facility without incident.

Retail management isn’t intelligence for a lot of companies, managers get promoted, supervisors ect. Based on how much you cuddle up to senior management. Nearly every company I’ve worked for (5), you’ll see 18 year old have no clue how to bring a team together/manage. in six months they’ve had four promotions and now are able to manage a store yet don’t actually know how to do the processes. One company wouldn’t promote people with degrees usually because they have more employment opportunity and are more likely to leave.
@@RoachIndited in this case...there was no kissing upper managements butt,,,,just another DEI promotion,,,walmart is negligent in these inside thefts.
I mean have you been to Walmart??? I don't think IQ is a requirement
These Walmart theft videos are hilarious sometimes. There is one video out there, where a young punk Florida kid got caught stealing and taking the merchandise outside.
He gets confronted, arrested, and while being taken to the patrol car, he unleashed a barrage of crying, pleading, and begging.
It was so pathetic that the arresting officer repeatedly told him to shut up. It was too late. And this grown ass kid cries and whines like a spoiled baby brat.
When I was a manager, any difference of $5 or more had to be immediately investigated. This is just insane
I have a sister that works at a Walmart. She was a cashier for a bit.
Her manager was a dick. He wrote her up for I forget about the exact reasoning was.
But the way she put it was. Every time it customer told her to keep the change. She would put that change aside. And win one that comes in that is in need. She would use that change if it added to or was close to she would put in $.50 sometimes more if she had to. But she would give customer $10 McDonald’s card.
It was just the kinda of thing that she would do to help others.
She said it was something along the lines of not along the company spirits.
I’ll tell you what that would’ve been my last day. Lol
Right same
Right? I was a wm manager, if $1k was missing everyday someone should have noticed. The loss prevention manager should have had that figured out within days not after 90k is gone.

Not sure of this man's age, but I am guessing early to mid 20's. At that age, I had put myself through college while working, found a full time job, bought a car and lived on my own. I saw parents once a month. I didn't call them when I had problems, no I figured things out on my own. What is the matter with this generation is appalling! Surely, there are middle age people with the honesty and integrity to fill these jobs - regardless of the pay, then again, Walmart is notorious for being cheap so I guess you get what you pay for. I dunno. A grown @ss man calling mommie, what is gonna happen him when someone wants to be his "boyfriend"?

No, Walmart prefers self checkout because they can hire less people. The Loss Dept. is always watching you at self-checkout.
I worked for Lowe's a while back, a new store manager came in, he gave all the Sales Specialists the ability to mark down items that were damaged, not selling, whatever to clear out the stuff. I was in the flooring department, we had a bunch of backsplash tile things that were selling between 20-30 bucks. They weren't selling, someone in the department would call his wife, mark them down to a dollar. She would buy a bunch of them, drive to another Lowe's, take off the mark down sticker and return them for the full value store credit. Something you might get away with once. They did it multiple times, did the returns at the same store, started to raise flags.
They caught on, dude got fired, people figure out a scam, get greedy. It is a good job, the guy was skating as it was, maybe got a few grand tops. Not sure if he went to jail, but it was a bad decision.
I just learned Lowes no longer gives store credits without receipt.
Peoples greed always ends up being their downfall, just like this Walmart manager. He could have made off with $75k but kept pushing it.
Anyway, your Lowe’s story reminds me of a funny story from my Home Depot days. I worked at a smaller format store in a college town which was a new concept at the time, if I remember right it was about 35,000 sqft smaller than the typical store.
Anyway Corporate would make these home office orders and ship promotional products etc which was normal - except they also did that for Ryobi tools. Out of the blue we’d get several pallets worth of 💩 Ryobi tools and have absolutely no place to put them in the overhead because Corporate sent us the same quantity as they would a full size store.
We were getting overwhelmed so we had to get creative….employees would buy a 5 or so of the Ryobi junk tools on payday and then drive into the city to return them at full size Home Depots. This worked for a while until people got lazy and just went to the closest Home Depot and they caught on pretty quickly and got PISSED because they were getting overwhelmed with these tools nobody was buying. Corporate got word and put a stop to our little cheat code.

"If I had stolen the money, I would not have stayed in the store that long."
Translation: I stole the money and now I realize it was dumb to stay in the store that long.
I'm more concerned that it took them so long to catch on. When I was a grocery store cashier we got dressed down if our till didn't come out even. If it came out over by 5 cents because someone didn't want their nickel we still got a lecture about how important it is to balance the registers. This guy took a thousand at a time for months and nobody noticed until the day he used his ID on his day off? Their whole management team needs to be fired.

You don't need to fire the whole management cos things happens sometimes in your own life that you won't notice...you are not almighty okey....

No, that's not it usually once they catch on, they start watching you, and what they want is enough to present to a DA for significant charges. Something that will get one either jail time and restitution but enough to not get thrown out of court.
@@pj195 somebody knows what time it is. Folks have this odd imagination where they tell themselves that if someone is not instantly dealt with then they got away with it.

Yep, woman bilt that system!
The biggest mistake that we made is a nation was the 19th Amendment. Giving women the right to vote is when all of the issues started in our government. This is when you started to see the birth of tyranny and the violation of our constitutional rights through legislation. You started seeing men manipulated by these women to also go along with these types of laws and legislations. We went from a moderate classically liberal to moderate conservative country and finally started seeing radical progressivism as well as watching our country be subverted from the Constitution of Republic it was supposed to be to the democracy they're trying to make it into today. Now that being said I want to make clear I don't support trying to take that amendment away. We've already opened That can of worms and unfortunately can't close it. A Walmart manager position is a blessing to any mature 22 year old. Manager salary with benefits is such a stupid thing to throw away in dumbest way possible 🤦🏽♂️ he will never be able to work in a high position ever again
He was a Customer Service Manager which is one step above a cashier and a couple levels down from an assistant manager.
Maybe the crooks on Wall Street will hire him. He made pretty good money for a cheap swindle.
Regardless, it doesn't excuse his behavior.

I have worked MANY retail jobs and handled many cash banks, at the end of the day the totals have to match the tape from the register. I never even looked at the stores money as money. It's just another tool in the job. I pride myself in doing a good job and I did. I could not steal from the hand that feeds me. That's how I was raised. I come from a very good upbringing. That's how I roll. This guy should be very ashamed of himself. What he did was very wrong no matter what the reason.

As a manager shouldn’t he know where all the cameras are 😂
Noooo definitely not, asset protections/ security watches staff more than customers.. they even have secret shoppers the staff has no idea of working there. Internal theft can be more than petty thieves
At the Bay in Canada, we were told during training that cameras are watching us at all times, and we have no idea where they are. They said that there's more internal than external crime!
No. Internal theft aka shrinkage has long been a bigger problem than shoplifting. Insiders know better what to take and where to find it and how to get it out of the store.

There’s a ton of money in and out daily at your local Walmart.
I haven't shopped in Walmart for two years because the last time I was there, I was in self check out and I was buying 25 cans of fancy feast cat food. They stopped me as I walked out and asked me to come into the office. It was two loss prevention officers; they emptied my bags looked at my receipt that totaled 216.. 00 .
20 minutes later, as I'm sitting there telling them I never stole a thing in my life, they come up with three cans of fancy feast for $.71 each that did not scan in the self check out. I did scan them. It's not like I was skipping them and bagging them, but I was going so fast with 25 cans to scan, that three of them were missed.
despite my Protesting, they wrote me up for $2.13 and trespassed me for theft.
How did the super Walmart wanna be cops, miss $90,000 over two years ???
A few years ago, one of the shift managers at my local grocery store hatched a plan to steal $100,000 in one go from the store. He was a nice guy, always smiling and friendly. Super helpful.
I guess he stuck it out for a couple of months to get the lay of the land, learned when they typically had a surplus of cash in the 'safe' (it turns out, the room they stored the money in had no real security - everything was heavily upgraded afterwards).
One night, while he was working, he had 2 of his "friends" come in to hold the place up.
when they got caught, they ratted the dude out.
Of course they told on him 😊
Karma on demand!!

@@HannadayFLOtypically yes if you commit ANY crime (and get caught) then you have violated probation and a serve the rest of the sentence in prison.
