The Goose has always been critical of the modern game. But times aren’t going to change. Things are the way they are. He’s right about a lot of things, but he’d be better off enjoying what good is left in the game.
I've said the same thing Goose. It all changed for the worse when Bud Selig took over--expanded playoffs, turning a blind eye to PEDs and steroids, interleague play, specialized uniforms, universal DH, automatic IBBs, etc. The game was essentially the same for 100 years until avarice destroyed MLB.
I don't like all of the changes but challenging umpires with instant replay is a very good thing. It fixes obvious mistakes that we all can see. When players do the things they practiced and get paid huge of sums of money for they should not be denied by by an umpires error.
Agreed about the shift which MLB took it away a little bit, as Rod Carew was quoted saying, "If they shifted on me every at bat I'd have hit .400 a lot."
Today, baseball is so anal and they’re killing the game by making it boring. It’s too analized and Goose is right. They don’t build up a player’s stamina.
They want to see 6 different pitchers a game so they can go to commercials. Billions of dollars at stake. Games used to be 2 hours now their 3. They DESTROYED the American pastime.
Mad respect for the Goose. I agree with everything he said.

Go Goose go!
He is So Right. I too am a retired player of 10 years in the 80s thru 93 and don’t watch the game. It’s not what we played.
Goose used his lower body trained hard kept arm in shape too

Wish he were commissioner!
That's a great point. Everyone seems to be on a pitch count but they're still always hurt
