    I felt like Princess was responding to the cheers. Got to love a horse that plays to the crowd and loves to compete.

    Hi again MATT
    Still getting through your vids to get caught up but I must say you have really put out here some terrific work! So impressed with your teaching style explanations and tips that generally offer something for all levels. Very much appreciate your organization and beautiful care you give the horses. Your planning and preparation for readiness to show is spot on. All in all you are definitely doing and living your passion! So enjoy also how you expect results and will give whatever possible to make great results happen. It's so refreshing to see such a quality trainer...
    Thx so much for all you do to share!

      Matt Mills as I’m sure it’s EQUALLY as important to the horses! I love that whenever some thing doesn’t go to plan, (or does) you use it as a teaching/learning experience. It’s like you are someone who ACTUALLY LISTENS to them, & you pay really close attention to their body & how they feel. Not just physically but mentally as well.😊💜

    Love your video!😍 I have a question: Which bit do you use for a horse that is not straight in the body on the rundown?

      Hard to say without watching! Typically I’d choose a solid shank bridle

    So when the horse walked out of the stop was that human error ( mis-cue, didn't sit enough, leaned forward, etc?) or was it horse error (not fine-tuned, not in the zone/ ridden/ practice for a while, etc.?).

    • @mattmillsreining1
      @mattmillsreining1  4 роки тому +1

      Great question. I think they were just going a little too fast in my opinion.

    68 in my books. The first run for stop and back-up didn't have enough drive and the back-up was kind of shaky (0). A small error on the first spin (-1/2), but 0 for the second, because not enough speed. The first small circle was OK and on the fast ones to the left he was a little too much on the horses mouth (-1/2), the first lead change was ok, but it wasn't a significant speed drop for the small circle (at least from the camera angle) so (-1/2). The fast circles on the right were fast and less touching on the horse's mouth, but not fast enough to have more than 0. The first stop the horse came out of it and consequently the roll back wasn't that good (-1), the second stop and roll back were good (+1/2) and at the last stop the horse came out of the stop again. So, all in all: 68. Well, that happens when you're all dressed and stuff and being watched and recorded on camera. Positive point: the most severe judge will be himself.

      @@mattmillsreining1 Actually, I wasn't, but I did enjoy attending and competing in reining shows. I used to scribble my score on the draw sheet while waiting in the stands and compare it with the judge's. It was fun, even funnier when my scored matched the judge. I did score you too at Oklahoma every year since 2013, you and few others that I wouldn't miss for anything :D!

    I know that it's normal for your horses heads to hang low. But it looks like these horses are too controlled/sad/weak. Wish this is rutt that will change. Please don't beat me up. I was watching Matt around friends and this was their (not horse people) comments.

    • @mattmillsreining1
      @mattmillsreining1  2 роки тому

      No worries! I wish y’all could get that to perform at a high/ competitive level these horses cannot be intimidated. They are built to carry themselves this way. Yes we develop them and ask them to be responsive and soft. With that being said. There are some trainers out there that try and “ manufacture “ this look. Doesn’t work. My horses across the board are NOT SAD! Trust me
