Amish Woman Gives (Surprising) Furniture Store Tour

- I got a tour of an Amish furniture store in Ohio. The store was really nice & also contained a number of surprises.
The place is owned by Emery & Rachel Miller. Emery had to run, but Rachel shows me around the store. About halfway through I'm surprised to find out where the couple lives. A furry friend appears and I see some unexpected furniture styles.
The store is Four Mile Furniture in Jackson County, Ohio. Here's the address:
6003 Four Mile Road
Jackson, OH 45640
(Note: this appears to be the address for the location next to the bakery (red barn). The shop featured in this video is just up the road - ask at this location or the bakery for directions.)
The community is also known for its bakery and greenhouse. It's not the largest Amish community, but a friendly place and worth visiting.

My name is Erik Wesner and I'm not Amish. Back in 2004, I met the Amish while selling books. Since then, I've visited 5,000+ Amish homes & dozens of Amish communities. My book on Amish business, Success Made Simple: An Inside Look at Why Amish Businesses Thrive, was published in 2010. I run the Amish America website: amishamerica.com/
I like that “live edge” furniture. It’s sooo basic, yet elegant.
I want that nightstand.. but I'd like a swing arm that my laptop can rest and when needed swing around onto the bed; think dentist light contraption.. I'd consider mounting a light underneath for reading small amounts from documents and provide indirect lighting for the room.
Sembra che cos'è la Pennsylvania? E lì dove stanno gli Amish? È nella Carolina del Nord Sud

Holmes County is in Ohio
I wish there was a closer Amish Furniture store. I live in Middle Georgia. .
Maybe one day I can go there and make a purchase to bring back home.
I'm a contractor in southern Indiana. I have worked with a great many Amish and met their families. Many Amish women I have met struck me as very smart and conscientious. Also quite beautiful. I'll never forget this one gal I worked with when I was much younger. She was drop dead gorgeous. She would make excuses for us to look at cabinets in the warehouse. One time she led me to the back of the shop, we turned a corner and she stopped looked up at me and leaned in. I couldn't help myself and I kissed her the longest kiss. She looked up at me and said "I've wanted to do that for a long time" I told her I felt the same way but it could never work. She hung her head down and said "I know but I wanted one kiss" I pulled her close and held her for a few moments. I saw her several times again and she would always make an excuse to talk to me but things never went anywhere. She got married and had a family and I would always tell her how lucky she was to have such a beautiful family and that her life worked out perfect for her. Once I told her that and she just smiled and said "we'll always have that one kiss". I told her "I often wonder how we could have ever made it work"
Her "gun" comment was unexpected. Yep. She is a good saleswoman. Smile.
I have recently been referred to your site by my oldest son. Thank you for your efforts in making the Amish more understandable to "English" people. For six of the 10 years I lived in the US, my oldest children and I (widowed) lived in NW VA. After treating an Amish child at hospital for some weeks, we all developed a friendship with the Amish community in Oakland. My son and I visited often (though my daughter only once). We both speak German (as a 4th or 5th language), so also attended Sunday service a few times. Our high-church Anglican/Episcopalian style of worship was very different, of course, but our Faith united us. My 10-16 yr old son made close friends with an Amish agemate (Kilian), and they still communicate today, almost 30 yrs later. Indeed, my son has visited from his BC home several times over the years, and he and his oldest boys stayed there for a fortnight just before Covid. Whenever I visit my friends in VA, I make sure to see my Oakland friends too, though my transatlantic flying days are now over, so it will be keeping in touch via snail mail from now on. Thank you again. May you and all whom you love have a blessed Christmas.
Looks great
Nice shop. Super nice furniture.
❤i love learning about the Amish bless you
Excellent.
What a coincidence! I just thought to myself, "I wonder if Amish America has uploaded anything"
They have they get others to do it

AMISH AMERICA is NOT owned/run by the Amish. Eric is what the Amish call English/Yankee/Outsider depending on which community/group you are dealing/speaking with.
@@ajalicea1091 Amish America is that the name of the store . I know Amish stores up north who are run by the Amish m furniture is made by the Amish . But if its put online they have other do that . As for yelling it's not necessary
@@southerngrits They refer to the business as Four Mile Furniture. I did a google search and four mile bakery showed up, but not Four Mile Furniture. They are probably close to the bakery
@@jeffbaker8456 Thank you
Beautiful stuff, and lovely owner.
Can't ask for more.
The comfy living quarters are a great ad for the comfy furniture!
That natural lighting is terrific. They could probably sell a lot of those for "English" homes.
Four Mile Furniture is added to my bucket list! I need a narrow bachelor's table with chairs. I also like that JD Round Table 'n Chairs.
I wish we had such amish communities and businesses in Australia 😍😍😍
We do in Tasmania
Wonderful to see this!
Merry Christmas and thanks for your great videos!
Thank you and Merry Christmas!
Wow nice I don't live to far from there
i want that bar...and the mirror...
Again, a lovely video. We will check that out the next time we go back. Thank you
God bless you
Hi Erik, this was another great video! I'm a quilter, so my husband and I go down to the Holmes County area quite often, just for a day or maybe 2. We live in northwest Ohio, next to Lake Erie. We bought a beautiful kitchen table down there a few years ago. It's made of reclaimed barn wood with chunky square legs. Everyone who sees it, loves it. This table is very sturdy and we use it every day.
I just ordered a table and chairs from Amish Oak & Cherry in Hickory, NC. I was told it is made in IN or OH. Will take about 6 months. I’m so excited
Odds are you'll have that furniture a long long time! People tend to love it
Dang, I wish I lived closer. They would get a dinner table, chairs and bed room set out of me.
Love the vid!
Thanks!😀👍
Me too❤
Very cool! It's pretty neat that they live in an apartment behind the shop itself. Just like traditional businesses were operated until the mid-20th century. There are so many former businesses in my hometown attached to homes in the back, or on the ground floor with the living space upstairs. A lot of them look like typical pioneer shop fronts, with the tall plain facade. They're listed in the late 1800s and early 1900s city directories, naming the kind of business -- produce sellers, meat markets, which were not the same as butcher shops, but there are some of those, too, and dry goods, and general stores. Every neighborhood had at least one shop, but most had at least 3 separate shops within a few blocks. And the owners all lived in the business, upstairs or behind it. Nowadays they've all been converted into dwellings, either joined to the rest of the home, or made into an apartment. The stores downtown have mostly been turned into office space, or restaurants, but the living apartments upstairs have always been lived in. When it was no longer common for shop owners or managers to live above the downtown shops, they were converted into cheap apartments. Within about the past 10 years it's become fashionable for wealthier people to live in that kind of space, and the rents went bananas, up to $5,000/month just for an open floor like the apartment Emery and Rachel have, except upstairs. I knew someone who went "upscale" to live in one. All I will say is that I think it'd be neat to live like that if it's over my own business, but I wouldn't pay that kind of rent just for that kind of apartment.
There’s some great looking furniture there.
Loved the live edge table and that cool mirror that slides.
Love the hidden gun dresser.
nice store
loved it, thanks!
Wow what beautiful furniture! Loved the live edge and the barrel vanity with the hammered copper sink. I was born and raised in AZ so I love copper. TFS 🌵👍
Great video Mr. Wesner. Thanks for taking us along!
This is a great video. What an interesting tour of this beautiful furniture store. I live right next to the Amish community here in Sarasota, Florida. They have a furniture store in their marketplace. Rachel is very sweet. Thank you for sharing.
Another terrific video, Erik! And now another place on my bucket list next time I wander from the Navajo Nation back to Buckeye country! Have a great day!
Oh please go back and visit the bakery, this video was brilliant, well done to your host Rachel :)
Very cool furniture store. Not sure how I missed this video, but I enjoyed watching it today. Lucky you to get a private tour when they were closed and share it with us.
I did luck out!
Enjoyed this video very much!
Nice furniture.
Merry Christmas
Beautiful shop and really beautiful furniture!
Beautiful furniture, how lucky you were to have them open up the doors to give you a tour. Thanks for sharing their store with us.
I’d love to have that It Is Well With My Soul sign.
I might have to visit there.
It would make a nice day trip.
I like how they have the house, and store combined. Everything in that community is well organized for efficiency.
Thank you so much for enlightening all of us! When you visit these places and make connections, you connect all of us, thank you again!
❤️👍
Great video! How fun for us to go with you inside. Beautiful scenery surrounding this shop. Rachel is very friendly and helpful. Keep videos coming.
Hi Eric, Beautiful furniture!! Rachel was very nice and informative. Thanks for sharing!
Love the video my friend, excellent craftsmanship on the furniture and can easily become a new family heirloom. I would very much like to make my way over to Four Mile.
What a cool place!
Beautiful furniture
The "Amish" Furniture store here in Farmville Virginia sells ONE rocking chair made out of composite plastic for $855.00 Each. I prefer old fashioned wood rockers for $99...lol. And just so you know the Amish community is building full service large Grocery store on route 60 near Dillwyn Virginia in Cumberland county next door to the newer Auction house. It should be open after the first of the year if you plan on visiting the Farmville area next year or sooner Erik.
Not all store who say Amish are not Amish nor are they run or sale Amish furniture .
That's great to hear. I just stopped in Monday at Pine View in Farmville community for a sandwich and fried okra on my way up to PA👍👍
@@AmishAmerica I Wish i had of known you were coming thru here, i go in there almost everyday for Lunch. The subs are great and the deli is incredible.
My in-laws live close to the Amish community in Little Valley, NY. I’ve had in mind that I wanted to get a contact with them at some point. One of the families runs a roadside stand that I visited occasionally, and I just sent them a Christmas card. Just trying to be friendly and follow some of your advice, lol! I’d love for you to come up sometime and visit these NY communities. And I’d love to let you know if I get a contact with them!
Great episode!
Awesome video dude! Have you been able to visit the new Meadows Of Dan Va Community?
I am planning to visit as early as tomorrow. Would you happen to know which roads or locations the Amish are located there? I am not finding any info in my regular sources. Thanks!
What a nice lady :) And the furniture is really great too!
Hello. I have some questions about the Amish.
1. How/Where do the Amish get their news?
2. Why did the Amish stop using technology with that specific time? How did they determine where to stop or what they could or couldn’t use?
I hope that I don’t sound silly asking these questions. I’m just wondering, and I want to learn. Thanks.
Erik, do you have a video about the Holmes County furniture stores?
I don't - but both this one and my other furniture store vid (Colorado) feature Amish with Holmes Co. connections and I think furniture from Holmes in both cases
Such a cute store!
Our kitchen table and chairs are made c by the Amish from reclaimed barn wood
I just hate myself for watching this. I would like to take a look there. they were very nice pieces but i'm from austria. most of the craft companies close here...
Hoping they aren't harmed by the uncured vinyl chloride spill
Hi! Do the Amish have pets?
Ok, this guy said ok so many times I lost count. Ok?
