Such a heart warming t.v show when i was a teen. Used to watch it, many an episode with my Dad back then. The hosts are so cheerful, kind and sweet people. Quality show.
Margaret did the hardest graft I've ever seen - she moved all that soil and the gravel too! Well done Margaret. What a wonderful friend to have. I love this episode. What a beautiful design. No wonder Pat was thrilled with it!
When I was in grad school I would take a break from writing in the afternoon to have a tea break and watch this show on BBCAmerica. Sometimes I would allow myself an hour and also watch Changing Rooms as well. Thank you so much for posting these, they are a blast from the past and remind me that little gems like this helped me to get through the most arduous path in academia, the Phd!
This show has never been boring that’s what I love about it but just have to say that the BBC America shows were just a little different than these. Nice to see these!
The lady gardener's reaction was priceless. I wonder how Charlie Dimmock feels these days about Alan's comment of needing to 'rub Vic on Charlie's chest'. I dare say she's much like me, robust, working with a bunch of great guys and having a laugh, and takes it in the spirit it's intended. Great result in this garden, quite jealous.
I confess, as much as I adore the show (and the banter!) comments about rubbing Vicks into her chest, etc did make my toes curl a bit! Times have changed, thankfully. There was, if memory serves correctly, even worse examples of sexism - one episode I think I remember one of the guys farting on Charlie’s head and Charlie just laughed it off with a great deal of dignity. I can’t remember which of the guys it was but I remember him farting directly on her head, almost sitting on the top of her head as she was bent down planting in a decorative pond and saying he had “curry last night” and asking her how it smelt. Revolting.
I understand the guy works nights but you cannot expect them to be quiet when they are building a new garden it’s impossible that’s just stupid couldn’t the guy have booked time off and telling that man off delivery the wood was so silly I want my garden done but shhhh I’m sleeping book time off then
mwmcquade that is brilliant, nice memories. Fantastic show with lovely people. Tell your dad he made that episode great just fitted in so perfectly with the way he said it.
Used to watch these with my Nan years ago as a child brings back some good old memories

Thank you from the bottom of my heart! I adore having the chance to see this terrific show again!

They were great shows
Always a treat to watch these skilled gardeners. Nice non- political humour too.
I loved watching this show when it came out! Thanks for bringing it back!!!! It’ll give me a glimmer of hope in my life since my divorce.

I was hooked this show from the beginning. Have so many episodes on vhs that I have to get on cds.
The soil is amazing. As a midwestern gardener, just north of Chicago, I garden in clay. Digging out weeds takes gorilla strength.
Awwww.................Poor Charlie!

Miss this show....
They couldn't have done it without the dog ❤
Ah..the good ole days!
The Original Landscaping Show
Goodness me! I had forgotten this series, and how patronising Alan T was towards Charlie in those times. She wouldn't have it now...!
He was never patronising to Charlie, it’s all harmless banter. Get a grip ! Drop the woke !!!! Not needed or deserved on this timeless show !
It was very common then. We didn't realize that it was rather offensive. They were good pals so I don't think any offense was meant.
That dog would be a better than average Border Collie at herding. The instinct is especially strong with this one...

My thoughts as well.
Good seeing these all again, currently being shown on “Home” channel in UK every evening

I liked this show. Is it just me or does Alan seem to be a combination of Mike Brewer and RIchard Hammond?
I have been riding at that stables loads😀
Any chance of getting series 9, episode 2 which was done in the isle of man? Cheers.
Eh voilé...🥰
Charlie was sexy in those days had a great shape.
Bloody nosy neighbours !
They 've been stood for 2 long days, behind that fence, not one of them lifting a finger to help !!! 😠
Aww, they are being neighborly. That was quite a show going on. I dare say, I would be at the fence, too!
Oh yeah wanna work along side her.
