    Maybe i'm a wierdo for watching this with such interest as a 23 single straight guy who will never expirience this.
    But it's so educational! i mean i know every woman is different and all of that but explaining all of this with such honesty... I think this will be really useful the next time i'm on a relationship or even if the day comes of me having a daughter. Great series!

      Considering that periods happen to a solid percentage of people in the world, I think being informed on it in this way is just a really responsible and cool thing to do. It's great to have you here Andreu and doesn't make you a weirdo at all! :D

    Ok, I can help you with the calendar thing because I've had that problem before with my iPhone! Go to settings in your phone, then go to "mail, contacts, calendar", no look over to the right and scroll down till you see the settings for calendars. The setting you see that says "sync" is what you need. Touch it and it will take you to a new menu where you can choose how far back on your calendar you want events to save and still appear. For example, I have the check mark next to all events so I can go back several years and still see the events on my calendar from that time. It just depends on how far back you want and need. Hope this helps! 😊

    If you have synced your iPhone with iCloud or another calendar service,
    the iPhone may automatically delete old events. To prevent this from
    happening, launch "Settings" on the iPhone; select "Mail, Contacts,
    Calendars," and then scroll to the bottom and select "Sync." Select the
    time period for which you want to keep old appointments. These range
    from two weeks to six months. To keep past appointments on the iPhone
    indefinitely, select "All Events."

  • @ChristopherFonseka
    @ChristopherFonseka 8 років тому +6

    To fix your calendar problem:
    Settings -> Calendar -> Sync -> and Select "All Events"
    Thankfully, it shouldn't actually delete anything, so you should see your old events come flooding back.

    my boobs get so sore when im about to come on my period, like a week before. it didnt used to be so bad but in the last year its been awful. And cramps are so shit too - its literally like someone grabbing hold of your gut and squeezing and prodding everything. ouch! also if youre using tampons be careful not to take them out too early because if theyre dry when youre removing them they'll be more painful and could cause friction burns inside your vagina.
    This series is amazing and so happy for you to be able to document your journey. definitely one of the most original series i've ever seen be done!

    I've been off the pill for three months now, but the one I used to take didn't stop my period. It just reduced the flow and how long it was on. I've also been using Clue and I love it! It helps you predict when the next period is due, when you're gonna ovulate, when you're PMSing and all that. I really love this app. Also, please talk about your experience with the cup and everything you learn before and after using it, cause I wanna get one too! Tampon instructions! There will normally be instructions in the box you have but the trick is to aim for ur back. Make sure you start off with applicator tampons (they make life so much easier) and push the plunger so it's going towards your back. Don't worry if it settles to one side or the other if it's the right kind of size tampon it will still block leaks. If you find yourself leaking it could be the wrong size tampon or you know it's time to take it out.

  • @febrezerocks
    @febrezerocks 8 років тому +3

    Some tips if you end up using the menstrual cup:
    - First time putting it in is a little difficult. When you get it in, hold onto the stem and jiggle it around in there a few seconds so that it seals properly.
    - I can generally keep mine in a half day (it won't give you toxic shock if anyone was wondering). But the diva cup was too small for me; I graduated to a bigger and firmer cup (Yuuki).
    - Don't play with yourself with it in you, because it will smell like hell when you take it out lol.
    - When you take it out, push with your pelvic muscles, like you're pooping it out. Because it hurts so fucking much if you just try to pull it out without a push!
    Best of luck!!

    I'm so obsessed with this series, can't wait for the next episodes. Keep in mind the way you experience period changes all the time, I used to be suspect of girls saying they're emotional because they're on their period and now I literally cry at least 3 times a day.

  • @PascaleDeBom

    re: weird tampon leaking
    ok so sometimes your vaginal wall has weird folds along the length and the blood will just slide down there and won't even come in contact with the actual tampon HOW TO FIX THIS the creative option: try to angle the tampon differently, or push it in rEAL far, and then give it a slight tug to "put it in place properly". The other option: your tampon may be too absorbent for your flow... if the tampon is too absorbent, for some dumb reason, if you have a light day, it won't expand correctly and leave room for leaking. HOPE IT HELPS!

    To fix the calendar on your phone deleting events: settings > scroll down to 'mail, contacts, calendars' > scroll to bottom to 'sync' > select 'all events' > close and reopen calendar app > give it time to refresh and any event you've ever made previously will come back (takes a little time if there's a lot but should be all back within 60 secs)

    I just recently discovered your channel (via Arden Rose) and I can unequivocally say you're the best thing that's happened to the Internet. Also, I work for gynecologist oncologists and what you're experiencing is very common. It's your hormones trying to return to "uncontrolled" levels. It's very important to have your period and not take contraceptive pills continuously. Not that you want my unsolicited advice but this what the doctors I work for say. I had one Depo Provera shot and my period was completely out of whack for 6 months after.

    Not all tampons are created equal. Some brands absorb better than others, and some just do what you said where they leak out the side but fail to really absorb much. I can't remember which brands are good though--been on the cup for a good year now!

      Also could just be because she inserted it sliiiightly wrong or her cervix is tilted a bit so it bleeds down the side of the tampon and doesn't soak the entire thing.

      I don't know if you can get o.b. where you are from but I prefer their normal silk touch with spiralled folds (?). To me they are comfortable and I feel like these spirals help prevent spilling.

    • @alimon89
      @alimon89 8 років тому +1

      @4everFinnick.CFBeautiful I'd say it's more so just about being used to something inside your vagina. I tried tampons a few times but I would in no way relate them to a cup. What was better for me was having been on the Nuva Ring as the folding technique for insertion/just the feeling of silicone is more comparable IMO.

    • @madiis18account
      @madiis18account 8 років тому

      I wouldn't say it's easier to use a cup if you've used tampons before. Cups go in so easily cos they're not drying and if you struggle at all you can use a bit of water-based lubricant to help.

  • @abundanceoferica
    @abundanceoferica 8 років тому +104

    I would wait until your period is a little heavier to use the Diva Cup! It's not fun to use when your flow is light because a) little-to-no lubrication when you pull it out suuuucks, and b) the way it works is that the cup descends as it fills so it's easier to remove, but if you don't bleed much it stays lodged up and you have to fish around for it 😑 (just my experience lol)

    • @SamarkandChan
      @SamarkandChan 8 років тому +15

      You can use it without being on your period, just use lube. And you have to use your kegel muscles to push it out, no need to "fish" for it.

    If it doesn't bother you, reusable pads are a great alternative (price, comfort, eco, no awful chemicals that you get with disposables etc). You can get cotton liners which you could use as a back up when you try a cup :) it's no different to washing your underwear when you leak on it!

      I'm 25 and I don't either. Pads, regardless of what anyone else thinks of them, are more comfortable for me. If everyone used tampons, pads wouldn't exist, and there are aisles full of pads, so I figure I'm not alone :)

    This was really interesting! I went off the pill a few months back and had two periods within a few weeks of each other, but haven't had one since. I'm now in the eighth week since my last one and nothing! But my periods were very irregular before I was on the pill so I'm assuming my body is just adjusting. I hope that's the case anyway, haha!

      I've heard of that happening before! I think it just takes a while for your body to readjust to its normal hormone production. I remember when I went on the pill it took me like 6 months to adjust properly to more regulated hormones.

      Essentially muscles are contracting and having spasms in preparation to shed the uterine lining, so as with any muscle pain things such heat and muscle relaxers help. Certain yoga poses, belly dancing, and even horseback riding can aid as well, though it varies greatly from person to person.

    Interesting! Is it common for women in the UK to take pills that mean they don't get periods? I'd say the more common one here in Canada is the type with one week of sugar pills that means you still have a period every month. I'm thinking about switching to one that means I don't have a period, though. The periods you have on these pills aren't even "real" periods so what's the point?

    • @DollyGirlBeauty
      @DollyGirlBeauty 8 років тому

      All pills are different, some people take the combined pill and don't get a period (generally, we get 21 days of pills and a week break, no sugar pills) and some do. Mini pills like Cerazette are taken every day, so 28 pills in a pack and I know it's really common not to have a bleed when you take them.

    • @amyamyamy17
      @amyamyamy17 8 років тому

      You can take any pill and just skip the sugar pill week. I believer that's what Hannah did.

    • @sophlouise_95
      @sophlouise_95 8 років тому

      Everyone is different, there's no guarantee that any specific pill will definitely mean you stop having periods though the mini pill which I take everyday meant mine stopped :)

    • @Nataluchi
      @Nataluchi 8 років тому

      Hannah didn't have a period for 7 years because she had to take a different type of contraceptive pill since her doctor advised her to. The most common one has strogen and you take it for 24 days and then you just have empty pills for 4 days in which you're supposed to have your period and repeat.
      Periods aren't really necessary, is fine if you don't have them for a while, you can also skip the empty pills and keep taking the normal ones and just quit whenever you want, but I'd advise consulting a doctor first because every body is different :)

      +imeloweez I really hope that happens for you. When I got mine fitted the doc said I would likely stop having periods. In reality, my periods did become less frequent, but when they did come they were hideously heavy and came with crippling headaches, and they went on for aaages (like Im talking a month) - had really bad effect on my sex life. Give it 6 months and if youre not happy it's really easy to take out. I was probably just unlucky as the doc never said it would be like that

    To fix your calendar issue, take a look in Settings, Calendar. Depending on which account you're using to provide your Calendar (they're either associated with your iCloud Account or your email address), you can change a setting that says something like Months To Sync, or just Sync. It should let you choose how far back to sync your events. Hope this helps!

    How to fix iCalendar:

    Love this series! I was on the pill for 8 years and my period disappeared for about 8 months or more. Kept thinking I was pregnant, it sucked. Apparently it's not uncommon that the system goes haywire and I read it can take even up to a year and a half for your body to know how to do things. The longer you've been on the pill, the longer it can take for everything to go back to normal. So weird that your doctor didn't tell you this can happen! Thank you for everything you do!

    from what i've heard and experienced, when you're due... having an orgasm kind of helps "trigger" it, almost? so like sex or masturbating... usually if you're already due it kickstarts the pushing of blood out of the vagina lol. also... swimming. cuz the water creates like a pressure but out of the water there's like a suction effect almost... and blood! of course these only work if you're already pms-ing or due

    Not meaning to insult any of your other videos by any means but the editing and overall production quality is notably fantastic in this, great job Hannah. Being a guy its fascinating to watch this mainly just to see how "The other half" deals with their bodily functions. Even though it's difficult to equate period pain to anything male.
