CDOC: Cancer Burden in California

This webinar provides an overview of the burden of cancer in California. It is the first step in helping to identify areas of focus for the new State Cancer Plan. Data from the California Cancer Registry (CCR) is presented, including pertinent data updates related to objectives in the current 2021-2025 State Cancer Plan.
To note: The data presented in the webinar comes from CCR. CCR data is currently (as of Nov 2023) complete through 2020. 2021 data will become available by early 2024. However, the data shown in the webinar only shows trends through 2019 for the following reasons:
2020: there was a decrease in incident cases for most cancer sites because of the Covid-19 pandemic; 9.2% decrease across all sites in California.
Because of this decrease, SEER does not recommend using 2020 data for trends. seer.cancer.go...
Therefore, the data presented in the webinar mostly showed 2019 and earlier diagnoses.
In preparation of the State Cancer Plan revision, the most current data will be available early 2024 to inform decisions around what will be included. The data presented in the webinar is intended to provide a starting point to inform those decisions given the percent change.
