His upper strength is phenomenal. Great humble guy as well as a humanitarian. Should be National Captain. Would be the perfect role model for kids in Oz. The best at turning the ball.
His turn over capacity alone, aside from his defensive and ball carrying capabilities, makes him and unavoidable threat to any opposition. Mad respect respect for one of the best breakdown players ever from Scotland x
Pocock is my favorite player atm not just as a rugby player but also as a person..The stuff this guy does for people is phenomenal..He really is world class. And there is NO ONE better then him atm.And im a huge all blacks fan.
For those that don't know, David Pocock is now a decent and gutsy independant politician in the Australian Senate. He just keeps on giving for his country and his fellow Australians. Thanks David.
Mandatory viewing for all aspiring back row players, especially opensides. In fact I think any player, regardless of position, should study Pocock's breakdown technique. If you can get your centres and wings attacking rucks like this as well, why not!
monstrously strong - weighed 115kg at 6'0 and benched 185kg towards the end of his career. That's as much as some front rowers, with next to no body fat. What a player and bloke.
If he’s 115kgs then guys like Danie Rossouw, Schalk Burger, Duane Vermuelen would be in the 130kg region, they are all noticeably bigger than Pocock. Rugby programs lie about players stats, years ago Martin Johnson and Richard Cockerill were on tv and Cockerill admitted he was 5-6/7 but in the rugby program 6-0 and 10kgs heavier than he was
Oh yeah not denying he’s a big dude. Yeah vermuellen probably is in that region as are a few of the other bok forwards. I once met 3 of the Scottish rugby players outside murrayfield stadium years ago all 3 of them were listed a lot bigger than they actually were, Tom Smith, Gregor Townsend and another I forget who now.
hooper doesn't play openside, he hasn't in quite a while, he may have the nr 7 on his back but he doesn't contest the breakdown hard anymore and focuses on going forward.
at 0:26 the ref says "no tackle". Pocock proceeds to complete the tackle, not show any clear release, then get on the ball. Should have been a penalty against him. Odd clip to use seeing as there are plenty more better and legal turnovers completed by him
I think you're mistaken here. "No tackle" is information to the ball-carrier, that the initial tackle on him was not completed so he can play on if he wants to and is able to. It doesn't mean "don't tackle".
Maybe he’s not the greatest of all time, but man, he’s awesome in defense and ball carrier as well, he’s a very complete player and very humble person. He represent rugby. Saludos de argentina
Because in those years you didn't need to release the player after the tackle. Pocock does it better and he even releases the player when competing at the breakdown.
DB Physique I think pocock is better at turnovers but warburton is better at slowing down the ball Both unbelievable players but I’d love to see a back row of 8.pocock 6.warburton. 7.mccaw Imagine that
Mccaw is an al Black, Pocock a Wallaby. Eventhough mccaw is spectacular is different when your team mates are retallick read Kaino etc than some good but Not Great team mates that pocock had
Back in the years you didn't need to release the player after the tackle. Pocock did more turnovers than mccaw even after releasing the player at the breakdown
This guy is so over rated. He goes missing in the big games. Australia is always trying to talk him up, but the reality is he is past it. Not a shade on the rest of the number 7’s going around
Gud at his role but not the king..king then try beat richies record..till bruised and old but still proves what he only does best wen it matters for the team..no offence thou
well he just missed the argentinian no. 6 in the easiest of tackles which lead to an 80m try.. he might be the breakdown master but no use if you miss tackles.
His workrate even when his contributions go mostly unnoticed are amazing. That is a sign of a truly humble player
His upper strength is phenomenal. Great humble guy as well as a humanitarian. Should be National Captain. Would be the perfect role model for kids in Oz. The best at turning the ball.
Rather old now and have seen some Great Players in my time and wish to say this No 7 is one that I class as an Immortal.
His turn over capacity alone, aside from his defensive and ball carrying capabilities, makes him and unavoidable threat to any opposition. Mad respect respect for one of the best breakdown players ever from Scotland x
He could make an entire mediocre side look good, a good side great.
Absolute freak. He gave me nightmares in June when he was playing against us (Ireland).
Pocock is my favorite player atm not just as a rugby player but also as a person..The stuff this guy does for people is phenomenal..He really is world class. And there is NO ONE better then him atm.And im a huge all blacks fan.
One of the shining lights of a weak Australian side throughout 2018. Well done Dave, phenomenal year!👏👏
Here after his retirement from rugby, I’ll miss you poey what a player 🦘

Probably the best in the world right now. Top 5 ever.
Eye Sack yeaaaa no defo top 10 but yea nah not top 5

Awesome player and punches way above his size
Yeah in the rugby programme he’s maybe listed at 115kgs and 6-2 in reality he’s 104kgs and 6-0
If he’s 115kgs then guys like Danie Rossouw, Schalk Burger, Duane Vermuelen would be in the 130kg region, they are all noticeably bigger than Pocock. mccaw, smith, pocock... the top 3 opensides of all time
Michael jones??
1. McCaw
2. G. Smith
3. Dusautoir
Top 3 open sides of pro era with pocock and burger close behind
@995sean in my opinion brussow played to little at top level to be considered in this category, though at his best he was the king at fetching
@@AlexBrown-xp7mt
Marty Holah
Yep this South African ozzy is such a beast, definitely one of the best. Mad respect from nz
Not at all my friend... as my last statement suggests, was all in love
Nice try but incorrect. Zimbabwean brah
@@geofflecren8827 oops my bad. That’s right
Imagine entering the rugby field and these 3 Legends are playing for opposition Pocock, George Smith and Richie Maccaw
Thank God Pocock came in when Goerge Smith left
Greatest 7 in the world right now, hooper should be benched i reckon, and that thumbnail though
I agree, he is underperforming due to injury but shouldn't be a burden by pushing through. It would be best for the team if he fully recovered first.
hooper doesn't play openside, he hasn't in quite a while, he may have the nr 7 on his back but he doesn't contest the breakdown hard anymore and focuses on going forward.
Playing them both still badly limits the Wallabies backrow utility and Pocock is the better of the two if you can only pick one though.
@@Fudgeis1337 fully agree
It's unfair to underrate Mike Hooper. He is one of the most revered players by the opponents.
Almost single-handedly beat Ireland last year
top 3 player in the world right now
I believe he is great! Tie with George smith!
Pocock u fkn legend
And now he's a senator.
Last of the great #7 who's miles a head of the rest easy...

It helps that his legs are huge
Greatest.... Maybe a few yesrs ago
David "Bearcrawl" Pocock
The return of the

Maybe he’s not the greatest of all time, but man, he’s awesome in defense and ball carrier as well, he’s a very complete player and very humble person. He represent rugby. Saludos de argentina
McCaw in his early to mid twenties was the greatest, then pocock.
Not at the breakdown, Pocock is stronger, faster and much more legal over there. Eventhough, Mccaw was better on other facets of the game.
Legal. You sound like an English reporter
Agree and I'm Aussie.
Because in those years you didn't need to release the player after the tackle. Pocock does it better and he even releases the player when competing at the breakdown.

“The Breakdown King”... you mean Sam Warburton?
DB Physique I think pocock is better at turnovers but warburton is better at slowing down the ball
Both unbelievable players but I’d love to see a back row of
8.pocock
6.warburton. 7.mccaw
Imagine that
he will always be no2
A Safa playing for oz?? Sweet
The return of the breakdown king wait Richie mccaw is back,oh no lol
Breakdown cheat 2011
ZIMBABWE
The king? LOL Richie made him look stupid his entire carrer
Richie was the best number 7 to ever pull on the jersey. Pocock is the best right now.
Mccaw is an al Black, Pocock a Wallaby. Eventhough mccaw is spectacular is different when your team mates are retallick read Kaino etc than some good but Not Great team mates that pocock had
Pocock destroys McCaw at breakdowns, you can't be serious? Richie is the GOAT, but he in no way made DP look stupid
Back in the years you didn't need to release the player after the tackle. Pocock did more turnovers than mccaw even after releasing the player at the breakdown

Pocock nowhere near! Mc Caw took the punk to school everytime
If he was any good Australia would be winning right
its 30 men on the field you dumb head
30 men on the field is including the other team you ‘dumb head’. I don’t think the other side is trying to help you win lolololololol
just pisses me off that a probable 9yo say this guy is bad at rugby... idiot
Breakdown king? 🤦🏽♂️😂😂😂
