Your game world Jamie Maclaren is more successful than the real world version if he’s banging them in at Spanish second division level. I live in Sydney and am a keen follower of the A-League (I’ve been a Sydney FC season ticket holder since their inception 20 years ago) and Maclaren, while a prolific goalscorer in that league, has largely been a disappointment in his European club stints and at international level. I was surprised to see Zealand nominate him as Australia’s player to watch at the Qatar World Cup, as I don’t think that’s an opinion most Australian fans would have shared.
I enjoy that this comment appeared all of like 20 minutes before someone else saying they won't stand for any Jamie Mclaren slander 🤣

I think it's where FM is it's most interesting - being able to see the stories that are developing elsewhere! I'm just rubbish at remembering to do it other than at the end of the season 😂

I love immersing myself in my saves so this episode has been even better than usual, but immersion is a double edged sword. On the one hand you can skip everything and just press the spacebar every second, but on the other hand, if you play like me, you're going to get stuck on looking at player stats, club's position during the course of a season or reading the social media tab. Now this sounds great on paper, but it's time-consuming and a season may take me around 10-15 hours so it can get pretty boring. And then, once a weird FM thing happens like Bellingham not getting registered, the save's almost ruined. Almost because you can always make a weird story that Bellingham did something nasty and got banned from playing or something similar lol
To be fair, 10-15 hours sounds really quick to me. I think we're 110 hours in on this save, and not through 3 seasons yet (and for a lot of the non-game stuff for these videos I have save points so I can go back and record bits, rather than just sitting in the save wracking up time 😬)
I think it's filling in that narrative that makes things even more fun. The idea that Bellingham got a ban is great. I also find that trying to find reasons for things happening can really help allay any frustrations. Player turned you down to take less money at a smaller club? That's because they paid him under the table. Goalkeeer doesn't react to a backpass leading to an own goal? He got distracted by a seagull. Dealing with an injury crisis? You've been cursed for buidling training grounds on a ceremonial burial site 😂

@@FMlestri it looks like his initial spell at Hibs wasn't bad, but can't say I know of him outside of discovering his beard!
