Don't worry you guys, I've got big plans! BIG plans. :D I'm not going away, just going on break! (( 2020 UPDATE: I started my own channel and am doing these series over there! ))
@@mcgilljb92 The channel was part of Discovery Digital Networks, at the time they felt it wasn't worth the effort and staff. So they told me they would put it on hiatus and we could resume later. It never happened (obviously). DDN was sold to Group Nine Media the following year, and then a year after that I left the company. I don't think G9 even knows it still exists. You can come to my personal channel where I resumed making short docs and series ! 💕
Skip 32 showers or just skip that 1/4 burger(both consume 650 galons of water). The biggest and easiest way to conserve water is not in your bathroom, its on your plate.
Michael Demers nah lack of demand will lead to lack of breeding and in turn produce less demand for what those animals need to survive. lifting that heavy burden from our grain, water supplies as well as the greenhouse emissions. And some people might even avoid dying of heart disease. all wins across the board.

trace and d news peeps do not give up , your program has been part of my life for the pass 13mths i would listen to all the interesting topics you have came up. really appreciate all the professional hard work put into this. thanks. there is a saying in my parts , resting is the preparation of going a mile further!!! do come back when you are ready. we are here to hit the thumbs up!!
Rest up Trace, et. al. You've earned the time off. This has been one of my favorite channels to watch on a daily basis. I find you segments to be educational, inspiring, enlightening, eye-opening and I can go on forever with this. In the meantime I'll be waiting for new material to come out when you return. Notice I said *WHEN* Stay safe, stay sane... Peace out for now.
Thank you trace!! You're one of the most hard working person on you tube!! You deserve a long needed break!! I'll stay subscribed and wait for you to come back:)
So sad to hear DNews Plus is going on hiatus. But you guys work so hard you deserve a break. Just please do whatever you can to come back at some point. I love listening to these mini series each week!
Every show can take an occasional break, but long breaks are not recommended for audience retention. I hopw to see the show return with more interesting discussions.
I really hope that you come back soon trace! You are my bae 😘 this show is the reason that my fascination with physics, biology, space and pretty much everything you have covered has blossomed! I love this show and do not want to imagine life without it! Please come back soon!! Much love from the UK 🇬🇧
Every weekend I have to drive two hours and I only listen to the podcast on my drive and I've listened to all of them probably twice now. Please come back :(
Hey Science Plus! I just wanted to thank you for all the information you provide us, this channel has helped me a lot not only in projects but also in becaming a better informed and more knowledgeable person. Thank you!
why not build desalinization plants deep underwater so we can use the use the natural water pressure to force the water through a "semi-permeable membrane" and get clean drinking water without wasting a ton of energy?
nitsujy its because you have to go greater than 200 meters to sufficiently meet the pressure requirements across the ro membrane. then you have to have the pumping energy to pump it back up to the surface which will end up using more energy in total.
I thought of that before but I was thinking about a power plant that uses the water pressure. The water coming in the top of the plant and exit somewhere right back into the body of water it's in. I think the problem with the desalination is dealing with the toxic salt that is removed. Where will it go and what will it take todo it?
I always thought that since where I live, water is filtered and re-used, that running out of water would never be a problem. after watching this series about water, I now know it is a lot more complicated than that, and I need to be more mindful. I already only use LED lights, which helps offset my electric usage, now I will be working on my water usage.
My two favorite series that you did were: your series on God and your series on Calendars. This was a great video. Come back soon. I'll be sticking around until you do. God bless you.
Great series. Have a good vacation, take a break from thinking about work and just enjoy things. I don't unsubscribe because of lack of videos or a break from content, if anything, unsubscribing sends a message to the content creator that you no longer care about their content and never want to see more from them. Therefore, since I am already subscribed, all I can do, is type this message, saying, I'll be sticking around to watch episodes I missed and look forward to the potential of new videos.
I wish they focused more on food production and how that can waste a lot of water. I feel like a lot of people don't even realise how extremely water intensive it is to eat meat, because it requires you to also use a lot of water to grow crops for them to eat, not just their drinking water. Either way, I loved this podcast. I really miss it! (hence why I'm re-watching some of it) I hope they haven't given up on coming back.
Another reason getting into space is so important, all the resources we are running out of and fighting for here on earth can be found in abundance in space. Our solar system is full of moons loaded with everything we need and have a fraction of earths gravity so launching ships from their surface is much easier. That's why companies like SpaceX are so important.
Anxiously waiting for the next episode. Come back soon trace =] P.s. The worlds first and second 3 parent child was born recently it would be cool to do a video on how having three parents can affect our genetic diversity and what the pros and cons would be. I have some theories about it but I would like to hear your thoughts on the subject.
If we care about saving water we should definitely focus on our meat consumption and animal agriculture. It's pretty huge, and nobody seems to talk about it!
Just another reason Scandinavia is the best place to live. Clean drinking water is everywhere and we will never be able to drink enough of it to make a difference.
I guess I'll just wait for you to come back. :) Really enjoyed the series I listened to (not all, haven't got the patience to scroll through that long list), and I'll look forward to even more stuff on this channel.
We could shift away from meat production which uses a ton of water and is also a huge contributor to climate change, over to eating insects, which is more nutritious and healthy and require a fraction of water and I guess space to produce for eating. I am all for that.
I enjoyed this podcast very much, it git me thinking about what I do every day. I personally could change some things I do to conserve water, thank you trace, I think your doing your job right. Keep up the great work.
6 liters of water is a lot though.. it takes a lot of willpower to drink that much without drugs and without vomiting and urinating all over yourself. Thanks for the amazing show Trace
The idea of lack of something won't scare people to be aware of it. The actual lack of it will, unfortunately this is how the world works. The masses. 😔
oooh, I'll miss them so much!! this was my favourite podcast. Hope they come back soon... In a couple of years once I finish my Bio degree and do my PhD (or master's, we shall see) I would so help them with the workload :D

sick sentence structure im sure there was a funny joke in there somewhere before your delivery ruined it.
Joshua Delahoussaye sooo are you saying we should kill all the animals? (I'm just kidding)
Michael Demers nah lack of demand will lead to lack of breeding and in turn produce less demand for what those animals need to survive. lifting that heavy burden from our grain, water supplies as well as the greenhouse emissions. No. All you need to do is build desalination plants, then build tanks to store the water. How hard could it be?
This show would be very nice right about now

Thanks for the amazing show Trace
You're welcome!
Don't we get most of the required water from food?
Trace, have a nice break but we better see you here again within two months.
What a great show! I hope it comes back.
Is this channel over? 3 months seems like a long break from a podcast. It would be a real shame i've been a fan since this started

Water does not run out it just changes form it never ever goes away it is forever. Gas. liquid. solid it does not disappear.
Hey trace, do you respond to comments? (This is my strategy to get you to respond to my comment.)

What DNews Plus said. :D
What would I do without these videos!!?! :(((((
Water is not really wasted though, used water has to go somewhere.
