That’s awesome, I just started dating a new girl here after my divorce and I hid all my RCs but one was laying out. She asked me about and I downplayed it and she literally lit up a smile and nearly begged me to take her out to play with it. I was kinda embarrassed and said nah I don’t really use em and she was like PLEASE I’m serious I always wanted one. DAMN I’m lucky

That may be generous on the driving.

I'd say 25% of the time driving, 25% building, and 50% starring at the rigs contemplating on whether I should drive or tinker, and which one, etc.

Fairly new to the hobby (only about 6 months in) I try to get out to the trail for a couple hours at least once a month, probably do more in the fall when it cools down. I spend alot of time tinkering on the bench adding parts I don't really understand the implications of yet. I bought reasonably cheap trucks to start with and they lead to lots of fixing and tuning to make decent. (FMS and Redcats)

This Proline Jeep XJ body is the newer “facelift” 97-01 design. The older Proline XJ/Comanche body was the older body design. But most everyone knew that.

Aside from parking lot bashing, all of the crawling and racing is at least an hour away... with my job, I don't often have the luxury of taking a full day to go somewhere to crawl. Friday night lights racing and night crawls usually work for me, but I am absolutely swimming in projects. I love driving, but I think I love building more... I certainly do it more than driving

It has been 6 months since I have been outdoors with my RCs. I have driven my 24th scale around my desk and house quite a bit while recovering from my injuries...It has been a bit of a lifesaver for my sanity while I while to get released back to work.

  • @Cai_Guy

Definitely more of a desk tinkerer. Unfortunately. Try to get out on the rocks as much as possible or even trail crawls. It's just difficult due to have 2 kids under 3 years old. It is starting to get better I tricked my wife into starting to hike with the kids so I can at least get in a trail ride every weekend. 😂 love what u do brother keep it up.

That HPI Venture actually looks pretty cool. The layout is really good for scale builds with full interiors, and the chassis even looks like it's pinched in front, like 1:1 trucks. For $200, it's worth trying.

Heck YEA 80 buck is a deal. I'm not into printing nor do I know anyone that has a printer, so coming with all the additional parts is great. I will diffently get the Chero body and paint to match my wife's Cheri she bought new in 98. Still drives and wheels like a champ!!!!🤘🤘🤘

An old retired Aussie guy. I have enough trucks to have one or the other permanently on the workbench. I get out with an RC truck at least 5 days a week. I walk slowly and use enough batteries to be the equivalent to 2200 mah worth of batteries, lasts about 90 minutes or so. I walk in bush land on single track. I pick up vehicle for dog walkers and the occasional horse.

Drive, maybe once a week if I can fit it in. With my work schedule and husband/family duties can take priority. So in the later in the evening (where time free's up) I'll be @ the work bench in the hobby room. And that can be very therapeutic. Hope that answers your question. Cheers!

I have a 1/28scale rc track in basement right next to my HO slot car drag strip. For my larger RC’s I always have at least one charged up and ready today. So I would probably say I run at least one everyday even though it might be for just a couple minutes.

Really happy to see Robbs taking the initiative to bring kids back to the hobby with the youth raffle. A lot of people say Robbs isn't the best location, but they seem to be happy to have the event there, the Robbs folks were down at the vendors buying trucks again this year as well. Great to see them interacting and becoming a part of everything.

We only have a couple of places to crawl here in the Olathe/Lenexa area. They do have the best rocks, but it’s not a very big area and it gets old fast. I end up tinkering more than anything. This year’s ToF obliterated my rc budget so once i get them built it’s gonna take a while to recover. However, i am learning a lot. You and Matt are very patient with my millions of noob level questions and dumb reels that i send!

I hate to admit it but the traxxas drifter could be a game changer just because all the driver-aids it has. I mean... steering assistance, throttle assistance, spinout assistance, handbrake option... this could mean a big increase in people getting interested in drifting but also could take away the most important part (at least for me) about drifting that is the difficulty and finesse you need to run this kind of cars.

    • @guest6423
      @guest6423 Місяць тому +1

I wouldn't worry too much about that. 2wd drifting only exists because of gyro assistance. And the rest is already available through ESC tuning. Traxxas will get more people into it. If the drift competitors want to keep additional electronic advancements out, they can.

$80 isn’t bad for a hybrid style lid (especially if it’s a legit licensed Toyota). AE’s Zuul body is listed $60-$95 for a non-licensed ‘yota look-a-like/clone.
I’m fortunate to get out & wheel daily. However, during the Summer months the heat can be brutal (heatwaves get gnarly here). I’m usually on a night run or out just before the Sun rise for some crawl therapy.

Axialfest was a bit off on the info this year honestly. I'm local, so I was thinking of going for just one day. But I guess there were no day passes, and I'm not paying 130 bucks for one day. I stopped going because there was not a lot of natural terrain at Robb's, but the courses are improving greatly every year, and the Rubicon is right up the road, and most importantly, the place is clean! As in clean restrooms! Any AF OG'r know what I'm talking about, lol

Due to recent health issues I spend the majority of my time "sitting" at my bench building and very little time driving except test runs in the back yard. My wife and I average about 100 miles a summer hiking with RC cars. Whenever possible and time permitting, we also typically do 1.5 mile walks in the morning and in the evening every day when we are home. I always take an RC on this walk. I typically use this opportunity to take out some of my more vintage or rare vehicles so I can use them, but not really risk breaking them. During the summer when we both have off, we use our RCs quite often however, during the school year, we do not get to use them nearly as much.

I'm at that point in life where I have more time to shop for and buy than drive and enjoy. My collection now features 13 broken trucks with parts in hand to fix and 2 waiting on parts to be delivered to not actually use to fix them. When there is time for the hobby it's harder to wrench than grab a new or still running truck and go play.

I would prefer to be a 80%+ driving guy, but my current build has been taking forever and my free time lately is minuscule. For nearly the last year I’ve been a 97% building, 3% wheeling guy and I’m not happy about it. I want to be able to get out more! Need more time in the day. 👍✌️

I’m really enjoying the building process lately. I only mess with the micros and here in Florida I have not found a single place to crawl except for the course I have built in my back yard. So the only time I crawl is when I finish a build. I’ll take it out a few times and then it goes on the shelf.

I used to be 99% Bench 1% driving, but over the last year I have managed to get about 70% bench and 30% driving. Fed up with the frustration with trying to find a good place to practice crawling, I have been collecting a variety of Rocks and Materials to build an RC Crawler course in my backyard. For now I have been crawling on the piles and collections, while I work out an actual course. although not perfect it has given me the opportunity to do more driving. I have been making more time to drive and enjoy the trucks I have, learning the skills, and techniques to compete better, as well as learning the abilities of each rig.

I am a bench tinkerer. I keep a TRX4 and VS410 for just a grab and go. Because i try to play with at least one a few times a week, 1/24th, or 1/10th or whatever. But my mashigan lives on the shelf and workbench almost equally. It's my version of Matt's CUCV. I just keep adding details bringing closer and closer to my actual 1:1. I am also starting anew project on my trx4 to completely rework it. I will try and film some of the progress and put it on my UA-cam channel if anyone gets interested. Not that I have a lot of content

I’d be really happy if someone came up with a roll cage kit and cut doors for the FMS fj40. That plus a lift and wider axles would look cool as heck on that and better than the proline

    "Money just evaporates..." So true.
I build way more than I drive especially these days.

I probably haven’t driven in over six months. My work schedule is just been crazy.

That Venture SBK looks 100% still the same. It always came with beeftubes and metal links. I wish they gave it the new battery position.
Drove my 1/43 scale dr!fters last sunday. Not to long ago i'd say, but still i'd like to get more wheel time. Pre and after run maintenance is still fun as well.

Depending on events going on I try to get out 2 to 3 times a month. We like to get a small group and head out for 3 or 4 hour hikes.

I spend way more time on the bench than on the terrain, but enjoy both equally!

I love building more than driving, but a lot of that is from being disabled. I can only walk about 200 feet without having to sit down now, so driving at my favorite spot is next to impossible. Hopefully I'll get better after a couple more surgeries planned for this year, and I'll be able to get out next spring :D The problem with building is, of course, money. Again, the problem is being disabled, which means almost zero income.

I spend much more time at the bench building than driving. In fact, I probably should have just sticked with static model kits instead of RCs. I might have saved a lot of money.

That Proline FJ body is expensive. You can get an Ecto or Zuul body with all the plastic bits for under $60. More tinkering and building lately, working on getting out more but....life.

I agree about the work bed . Something about them just does it. I was making a scx24 setup with one years ago . Have the body.. never did finish that one . Old Ford pickup cab. Woulda been nice. Hahaha. Anyways. That rc4wd version looks completely unnecessary. But I want one...
