  • This is how I came up with a better way to shim the saddles on my Schaller double locking tremolo

    Fantastic! Finally after years of fighting my old Kramer, I now have a fix for it. Thanks so much!

    Legendary video! I've been struggling with putting a decked floyd on a 60s reissue strat with a 9.5" radius and this video helped me SO MUCH with the project.

    Fantastic video, didn't even know the saddles had a radius to them! Haha, the more you know! Cheers.

    I had the opposite problem on my Floyd. The thread sheared in the back of the B string saddle when I was doing a restring. The bolt was ok though. I ordered a set of saddles online but they were different to the ones on the guitar. They were too high. I tried putting them on anyway but it didn't work. The bridge on the guitar is a Jackson by Floyd Rose. My guitar is a JS32 Randy Rhoads. I forget what type the saddles I ordered were. I ended up ordering a second hand Jackson Floyd from reverb because I couldn't get just the saddles themselves. At least now I have spares for everything except the B saddle. But anyway, your video gives me information that's good to know just in case.

    Or you can match up the double screw holes on the factory shim and drill them and will work too. I just installed a complete Schaller tremolo system on an old Peavy EXP Vandenberg model and went through all this. I added Titanium saddle blocks and screws with the brass big block from Fu-tone , fantastic set up!

    Great video, Matt I just found your channel I’m really digging your content,what’s your thoughts on upgrading a EVH Wolfgang special Floyd on these guitars with Stainless or Titanium screws, they say these Trems are a Floyd rose 1000 .

    • @ThrushCZX
      @ThrushCZX  4 місяці тому

      Ive not used either so I couldn’t tell you if it’s worth it or not, but unless you sweat excessively to the point your regular steel screws are corroding, you’d only be doing it for looks.
      The 1000 and the Special are different trems. One is an OEM part made in Korea using the same materials as the OFR (according to FR) and the other is a piece of crap not worry using as a paperweight 😄

    I think for the fine tuners to work correctly you'll need to cut the shim plate only as long as the shortest and longest of saddles after intonated
    .

    • @ThrushCZX
      @ThrushCZX  Рік тому

      Fine tuners work just fine - they have full travel in both directions.

    Brilliant !! Is thiis a top mount no routing for a Strat ?

    • @ThrushCZX
      @ThrushCZX  8 місяців тому +1

      Yes. It’s actually on a Warlock, but that had a traditional 6-screw strat-style trem on it that I replaced with this

    We hat if u only need one lowered.. how would this work ?

    • @ThrushCZX
      @ThrushCZX  Рік тому

      For something like that you'd want to use individual shims, one per saddle and just don't raise up the one that needs lowering

  • @Stewbert_72

    How do you convert it to 16 in?

    • @ThrushCZX
      @ThrushCZX  10 місяців тому +1

      I’ve never had to, but you raise the inner saddles to create a rounder radius, so you’d raise the outer saddles to create a flatter one like 16”. Of probably start by raising the A and B saddles a little, and if needed the outer two E saddles too

    To make 9.5 radius u only need the g&d raised

      Hello bro, Is there a chart to know how many shims and in what saddles to get any radius?
