Whenever a "routine" grounder is hit to an infielder I am charging in hard just in case he misses it. That tip alone has really paid off. And it's
an easy thing for any outfielder to do.

Hey this outfielding vid is a real help and my coach said I'm his prefered player to play center, left, and right because of the way you say to pick up the ball from the side ready to throw and the way to step back on a fly ball and the position to stand. This video is a good one its a helper. So thanks.

My 2-cents worth: a good way to become "set" in the outfield before a pitch is to actually to be thinking like a basketball player on defense; e.g. be on the balls of your feet and thinking about how you would react to a forward driving at you toward the hoop or who might suddenly pull up and take a jumper over you. That way, you are not really flat footed, but instead are in a strong, deweighted/decleated, reactive stance that allows you to take that first backward step if your eyes track the ball up on contact, or forward if your eyes track down on a liner or grounder.
Another key that an observant scout or coach will pick up on is an outfielder who is always backing up bases from the outfield; a good outfielder must always anticipate a bad throw by an infielder just like an infielder must always anticipate a bad throw by an outfielder. If you are in RF with no outs and the ball is hit to 3rd or SS, race over toward the first base line just like the catcher should be doing in order to be in position to get to the ball quickly on an overthrow or if the ball gets past the first baseman; likewise, if there is a runner on 1st or runners on 1st and 2nd and the ball is hit to third or SS, race over toward second to be there in case the ball gets past the second baseman. Same thing in LF and a throw is going to 3rd, race over to the line to be there to jump on a ball that gets past the 3rd baseman and be in a position to make the throw home to nail the runner trying to move up. Same thing for CF; if there is a runner on 1st and he steals, be moving toward 2nd in case the throw down from the catcher gets past the infielder; you can keep the runner from taking another 90. Same think with a runner on second and you see that the pitcher is going to try to pick the runner off, be racing in to back up the play at the bag. This is also important if you have a catcher who likes to throw down to 1st or 3rd; be backing up in case the ball gets past the base. Also, in RF, know who the batter is; if he's a big slow catcher or 1st baseman or gimpy DH who smokes a liner or grounder out to you and is lollygagging it down to 1st, charge the ball and fire a strike to 1st; I've nailed 5 or 6 guys that way over the years. Using superior defense to turn a base hit into an out will suck the wind right out of the other team.
And the bast advice I can give to young players is practice, practice, practice. The improvement chain goes thusly: practice leads to competence; competence leads to confidence, confidence leads to performance; performance leads to success! There are no shortcuts. To quote that great American, Theodore Roosevelt: do what you can with what you have where you are.

+Timothy Banuelos I've used lots of different gloves. I don't think you can go wrong with any Wilson or Rawlings! I really like the Wilson A2K Superskin!
I agree with everything but one thing i like to do after ive settled under the ball is take one or two small steps back and then as the ball gets there is step up make the play and throw the ball in... i just think personally if you take those few step forward it gives you a little bit more momentum to throw the ball harder if you have to... just my personal opinion

My coach called those dead balls in the outfield rabbits. Pick them up like one
