You are completely right about Johnny/Miguel/Robby situation. I've said it before but Johnny doesn't treat Robby like a son. He treats him like a chore he has to do, and Robby picks up on that. He already paid for Miguel's surgery and his family saw he did that. Wasn't even gonna let them know. He did not need to stay and pray with them. He choose to stay and then when he's called out on it by his friend and Robby he wants to make a bunch of excuses. It's exhausting and honestly if I was Robby I would have cursed him out.
Demetri losing his arm, Miguel getting his legs back. Hope for Daniel's business, Robbie getting pushed closer to the dark. This show really knows how to push and pull on your emotions.
One of my favorite little subtle moments is when Kreese is talking to Johnny at the bar. And he says "we need to bring our kid home." He's talking about Robby, as Johnny's son. But Johnny thinks he's talking about Miguel. Because Johnny is still putting Miguel first.
Kreese's face when Johnny mentioned Miguel instead, let's me know Kreese wasn't talking about Miguel but about Robbie. Besides, Kreese has been telling Johnny since season 2 that Johnny needs to have Robbie be apart of Cobra Kai and needs to fix the relationship. So not surprised when Kreese went to visit Robbie after that conversation with Johnny. Plus Kreese needs a leader in Cobra Kai, he doesn't really see Hawk and Tory as leaders but he does with Robbie, plus he can use Robbie to try to lure Johnny back in to Cobra Kai.
As a man that had a father that constantly let me down and was hardly present I completely agree but I relate to Robby in the same way that we do still forgive . Johnnys personality and age is also exactly like my dads aswell I relate to Robby’s character and choices a ton it’s really well written in my opinion
I think you deserve a million subs,a hard working reactor, who instead of just watching he actually talks a lot and gives his opinions. He has reacted to so many different stuff and is always consistent with the uploads,i have to respect it.
Don you can't REALLY be mad at Johnny for staying at the hospital, he couldn't really say "sorry I gotta go see my kid in Juvie, who also happens to be the kid who put Miguel in coma and likely paralyzed him"
@@Abdul-salaam-j8s I can’t say cause it’s spoilers for don but you can just watch those episodes again they are by far the 2 best episodes of season 3 🔥
I wouldn't say you have to watch the karate kid films beforehand but its the best thing to react them because of all the call backs and stuff. Plus every character from the karate kid films returns in cobra kai.
He should have watched all 3 before watching Cobra Kai. There's references to movies 2 and 3 since season 1. In season 1, episode 1, where Johnny is drunk in front of the place where they have the All Valley tournament and has the flashback of getting chocked by Kreese, that's from the second movie. When Johnny is fighting Kyle and his friends and they say the line "what's the matter, having trouble breathing", that line is from the 3rd movie by Mike Barnes to Daniel. In episode 2, during the dinner with Kyle, Daniel mentions his trip to Okinawa which is from the second movie. In season 1, episode 7, Johnny learns about Cobra Kai being banned from the tournament and during that episode, the committee explained to Johnny what happened and mentioned Terry Silver, that's from the 3rd movie. There's other references and easter eggs from the 3 previous movies just in season 1, besides the other seasons. Watching all 3 movies beforehand gives context on what's going on and references to certain places, names and flashbacks from the prior 3 movies will make more sense. I don't understand why people are telling him and others they don't have to watch the 3 movies before watching Cobra Kai, it's just going to have people miss out on certain things.
What I like about Robby fights is they’re very consistent. Against single targets he’s pretty good, doesn’t lose very easily. Against groups, he tends to get his ass kicked aside from the school fight. At the car dealership, juvie, the beach. A fight in 4 is also an inconsistency in the Robby struggles against groups thing, but that’s just one out of like five or six.
@@target9180 That’s literally the fight that I mentioned being an outlier. But in season 5 during one of the coolest fights, we haven’t seen him in a group fight in season 6 yet.
I understand Don’s perspective on not needing/wanting to watch the Karate Kid movies first, however, if he hadn’t, I doubt he would’ve been able to talk/recognise about Miyagi leaving Okinawa to avoid fighting Sato.
Who agrees that Daniel should have ended up with Kumiko? How do you have the tea ceremony, save a girl’s life, save the village and save Kumiko’s life and not end up together?
Agreed!! That tea ceremony was hot. We should bring that shit to England, not only fans slutty classless bullsh*t. If I walked in, not had sex for a while and my woman had a pre-sex tea ceremony waiting for me 😮 I'D BE SOOO SCHYCHED!!!!
Yep, that was a point of principle for the showrunners, if they couldn't get the original actors back, they wouldn't use the character. Yukie, Chozen, all of Johnny's pals from last season, EVERY character from the Karate Kid films that shows up in Cobra Kai is played by the same actor.
Miguel was going through a once in a lifetime surgery that could literally change his life forever and needed all the support he could get. I understand that Robby needed Johnny too but it's Robby's entire ass fault that he is where he is, and that Miguel needed that surgery and he could wait one day while his father supported his student in the most pivotal moment of his life. I don't get why people would be mad at Johnny for that.
I always wondered why Daniel didn't just bring a lawyer to the meeting with Robby instead of the cops. A lawyer could then negotiate the surrender and probably work out a good plea. With Johnny not going, I always had the feeling that he initially thought it was something small--say a prayer and then get out of there. And then they kept asking, oh, just stay. And he wasn't comfortable saying that he was going to see Robby, and the next thing he knew, the time had passed. Not that this makes it okay, but as someone with time blindness issues, I can totally see how it would happen. On same actors: There's only one actor (in a minor role that hasn't happened yet) who is changed from the original movies. So yes, that's the original Chozen. And that's even the same actress who played the little girl in the hurricane.
I would say it is cool to watch the movies too because then you realise the impact of the relationships. I watched Cobra Kai first and didn't understand why Daniel spoke so highly about Miyagi and after watching the movies I understand now, plus the resentment of Johnny, Kreece and so on. I also appreciate the show more and seeing the relationships between Johnny and Daniel getting better, feels more impactful.
don, i know reactions are mainly your thing but please continue into chapter 2 and beyond of black myth wukong, your play through of chapter 1 was one of the best i’ve seen
As much as I like Robbie, Miguel was in a situation where he may never walk again because of Robbie. He needed to put on his big boy pants and take accountability for that rather than act like he's a victim. Yeah, Johnny should be there for his kid, but he's also got a responsibility to Miguel as it was Johnny's kid that put him in the hospital. If he hadn't been there for Miguel and helped with the hospital bill then that few months Robbie served could have turned into something longer, so technically he was there for his kid.
No, Johnny gave the money to help pay for the surgery. That was more than enough that Johnny did. Plus, Johnny already saw Miguel multiple times since the accident, he hasn't seen Robbie at all. Miguel has his family to support him, Robbie has no one. Johnny did not have to stay there to pray especially when he knows Bobby pulled some strings to allow him to go see Robbie that day. I could see if Johnny had no plans that day but he already had an appointment to see Robbie, that takes precedent over staying in the hospital to pray for Miguel. Johnny could have easily prayed in the car on his way to see Robbie. All this did was show Johnny making Miguel a priority over Robbie which is why Robbie feels the way he does about Johnny and also Miguel. From Robbie's teenager perspective, not only did Miguel steal his dad but you also stole Sam too (remember Miguel and Sam did kiss, Miguel said during the fight in season 2, episode 10 that Sam loves him, not Robbie and he saw on TV Sam doing the fundraiser for Miguel, yet she hasn't visited Robbie at all). Johnny needs to learn balance when it comes to being there for both Robbie and Miguel.
