I feel like vases and big bowles might work at that price point but I don't feel like I could charge this much for a mug. In my area, 30€ is pretty much the upper end for what you can charge, unless you are a really well known artist. Maybe some sculptural pieces might be worth a try.
Yeah, I feel like $30 is a price that I could move a mug at around here. $20 if I wanted it to move more quickly. But really in my area it's a lack of people in general. I'm still considering opening a gallery space, but will probably get one person per week stopping by.
What a gorgeous area. I've been to Maine one time, and it was to the capital. Wow, such pretty and unique pieces. Question, these all have to be hand-washed, right? Thanks for sharing, Sarah. Lovely. ❤ Blessings, ~ Carol Amato
The pottery at Edgecomb potters is all dishwasher safe I believe. I don't know the makers of the others. In general though, pottery is dishwasher safe, people just worry about it getting knocked around and chipped or something like that. If it's a sculptural piece it might have glaze on it that doesn't react well to acids or harsh detergents. In those cases it might discolor. Glazes that feel very matte and are brightly colored sometimes have that problem. Though, if you're using old pottery... it might help to do a lead swab test. Lead isn't really used in glazes anymore, but many collectors still have pieces from the 70's or earlier that I wouldn't use for functional ware.
Hi Sarah, oh man! I have got to visit that town. It looks so charming. Of course, it's all the way on the other side of Canada and down. Oh well, someday! Thanks for taking us along with you. I should do the same at Granville Island here in vancouver. Have you ever been? It's our little Vancouver gem of fresh markets and artists and artisans all in one place. Come out, we will go together!❤
OMG, that sounds amazing! I've never been to Vancouver. I didn't realize how many Canadian potters there were until I started this youtube journey. I'd love to see some of the pottery from Granville!
So nice to see other work! And I think the prices do depend on where you sell them. In Holland we say what people are willing to pay for it! Did you buy that cup?❤
No, I didn't buy anything. I really like that color combo, I might do something with it at some point. I have so much pottery at my house, it's hard to justify more.
It was very disappointing that you found a lot of manufactured pieces instaed of handmade. I am always willing to pay more for something handmade. Thanks for sharing your experience!
Yeah, luckily many people appreciate handmade items and will still pay for those! But I suppose there is a place for factory pottery in this world too.
So true! Though for coastal Maine, much of the prices are high because the stores can only be open during the summer season. So I wouldn't consider those as "all the time" prices, though really those glazes are such works of art it's worth it. The average household income of locals in many of these areas don't really support selling pottery at some of those price points. Pricing is always such a tough balance.
Thanks for sharing in the beautiful pottery. So love the greens.
Thank you for watching! Green glazes are just so pretty!
What a nice little tour of some lovely Maine pottery. Thanks, Sarah!
Glad you enjoyed it! I might try and get around to some more small Maine towns but the summer season is quickly coming to an end.

I might be headeing up to Maine next year! Love the vases and the whale tail mugs
Maine is such a fun state to visit! So many pretty spots, lots of pottery, and lobster!

Don't bad mouth their prices, raise yours if work is comparable. 😊
