    Longevity question. How many Subarus do you see over 200,000 miles these days. I know in the 90's I saw a mail delivery person with 400,000 miles of hard driving stop and go rural mailbox delivery miles. The car obviously required lots of Maintenance and repairs but it still took more punishment than many other cars could have.

    I'm 72 and just bought a crosstrek wilderness model because my landlord has a Subaru with over 300,000 kms on it and I wanted my last car to be varoom. I got my wish.

      I believe adding to the confusion is that some of the icons can be moved, others not.

    • @davidbrown3309
      @davidbrown3309 10 місяців тому +1

      Also, they told me the problem is that there is a limit to the number of icons allowed on each page. So if you want to move an icon from Page 1 to Page 2, you first need to make room for the new icon on Page 2 by moving an existing Page 2 icon to Page 1. Honest!
      That sounds crazy to me..

    Hi Alex, love these videos on the Latest Subaru’s. I live in Wellington, New Zealand and have owned a Subaru XV(Crosstrek) since 2016. I just the latest Generation Subaru Crosstrek (rebranded from XV) and found your helpful, but I have that depending where you live in the world there are slight differences in model style’s like trim and the odd switch etc, so watching videos you have to use a bit of common sense, but in all love what you are doing in the videos.
    My Crosstrek is the latest Generation Hybrid which I think the USA may not get. Just love Subaru Crosstrek in Model.

    Thanks for your very informative videos! My question has to do with the headlights automatically comming on when the 2024 Forester Base is put into gear. Doesn't matter if it's day or night, the headlights immediately come on once drive or reverse is engaged. Headlight selector is not on the Auto setting. Seriously hoping there's a way to turn off this "feature".

    I have a 2024 Subie outback with a turbo. 🙁No CD player in my car. Don’t have a clue what model it is.
    I traded an outback 2019 with 32,000 miles. I’ve compared both cars.
    The storage betweeen the seats is smaller and the storage in front of the gear shift is much smaller. Also, no change holder. Another thing is no netting in the trunk. 😂. The cup holder is so deep a regular size coffee makes it hard to pick up.
    I am lucky to get 16 mpg in my car. Before you say it is the way I drive the car. I am a 78 YEAR OLD women and rarely kick the turbo on. I just like to know it is there if I need it. The window sticker states I shoud get better mileage. I 😮 do get great mileage❤ on the turnpike. Another thing is the steering wheel locks up water too often. This is my third Outback and this never happened before.
    You must thinkI hate my new car. Quite the opposite. I would buy it again in a heartbeat!!!! Just a few things I liked better in my last two outback’s.

    Hi Alex, I know you always say that if we have a question please ask below, so here it is... My in-laws purchased a used 2015 Subaru Outback Premium. Have been able to adjust all settings to their liking with the one exception of when I go into: Settings - Vehicle Customization - Please Wait Loading Data - Goes Blank and Back to Settings. The problem is it is supposed to load a bevy of choices including changing the door lock to open all doors (from the driver's door) from its current setting of only opening the driver's door. Dealership where they purchased have been no help in solving this problem. Any suggestions that you can offer. Thanks in advance!

    Hi Alex, I have two questions. They both pertain to experiences I’ve had with my 2019 Ascent. First, since I bought the car in 2023, the first thing to go was the battery. The indication made it appear as though there was a computer glitch. The first signal was a notification that auto rear braking had been turned off. After wrestling with that issue for a while, the dash eventually lit up like a pinball machine. We couldn’t even lock the car and leave it because the key fob had stopped working (although I later determined that the key fob battery was still good). We finally called a towing company, and it was they who determined that the car’s battery was the problem. Any way to avoid this wild goose chase? My second experience was getting locked out of the car after closing the door with the car idling in park. I had the key fob, but again, it didn’t work. I tried the valet key (inside the key fob), but it didn’t work either - what’s up with that? Thanks in advance for any help with these issues.

  • @LS-ti6jo

    Suggest showing how to open the hood. Subaru has made that unnecessarily hard, first by hiding the interior release latch so far down & below where it is in every other car, then by burying the hood release in the engine compartment so you have to hold your fingers tow to find it - so annoying. I called my dealer to ask how to open the hood and was told "Honestly, the best thing to do is just bring your car in sir, it's impossible to explain over the phone".
    Another annoyance is the TomTom nav system (which should be removed, its so bad). TomTom loves loves to say "Exit right ahead", which any logical person assumes means take the next exit. Wrong - it actually means the exit is 5-10 miles down the road, after several other exits - incredibly annoying & happens all the time.
    The Nav's audio loves to go mute for no reason a lot, after which you have to go into Settings/Audio & turn up the volume again (we now check it before every trip). And just using your iPhone to search the internet interrupts sound on the stereo (why???). Combined with the low quality display panel, which has really poor off axis viewing (like from the driver's swat) makes the infotainment system at least 5 years behind Subaru's competition.

I've turned off the driver and passenger but the rear seats all 3 of them don't have a bypass!?! I've seen people unhook the sensor but i also read that disables the airbag. Can i disable the beep,beep,beep...? Both my book AND the Subaru websites tell me take it to a dealer they will disabled it and I've made appointments and went to 2 SEPERATE dealers and both refused to turn it off but say try anther dealer they might do it for you, so i believe it can be turned off.
    I'm about to get rid of this car over this issue and no one at Subaru cares so it was worth asking you, Alex. Thank you for even listen.

    When I first saw the distance to empty mileage, it has the arrow pointing to the fuel pump symbol. I thought this was denoting that the fuel door was on the left and I thought it was a mistake since the fuel door is on the right. (Which I thought was weird for a Japanese car). Alas, the fuel door arrow is still on the fuel gauge like normal.

    Just got a new ‘24 Crosstrek sport. I never test drove it at night- if so I NEVER would have bought it. I can hardly see anything in front of me on winding roads with the new headlamps. A black line appears at the horizon & it’s not only distracting, but dangerous. Are there settings to help? I read these were designed not to blind on coming drivers, but it blinds the other driver - Me.

    I have seen many videos of yours but could not find a video on average mile per gallon on Outback.
    I bought Outback Sept 5th 2023 and have driven about 1600 miles. My average mile as per Outback shows only 22.4 . However when I bought it the sticker on car has 26 miles in city and 32 highway. Why my Outback average is below 26 in city driving.

    I own a 2023 outback wilderness model. I have Sirius satellite radio. When I plug my phone into the charging jack under the display, it automatically goes to the feed from my phone and plays music from there. When I try to go back to satellite radio, it plays a couple of notes then stops. Any idea how I can still charge my phone and listen to satellite radio?

    Alex, please disregard my question about losing the safety settings after a new battery had to be installed. The ones I had turned of only appeared a couple o times, and now they are back the way I had set them. Thank you.

    I have a 2022 Outback. I was told by a few people that if you have to tow your Subaru using a tow dolly that you either have to disconnect the rear drive line from the transfer case or disable the AWD and switch it to FWD by installing a fuse in the fuse box. Does the model have a mode for this on the touch screen or do you still have to do this? Can you do a video on this? Thanks...

    Alex, any idea when my 2024 OBW will get the software update which moves the AVH button down next to the AS/S button? I really want that and it's frustrating seeing videos of current Subarus that already have it (not referring to this particular video)! Thanks for the great content.

    I have a 2023 Outback Touring in Canada (not the same US touring trim). I experience squeaking/creaking noise from the roof when the car flexes. Got it fixed twice at the dealership and its back again. As a Subaru expert what is your take on that?

    Alex, Thank you for bringing light to so many of my Subaru mysteries!
    2021 Crosstrek Sport
    I Purchased this used last May and have tried some of your tips, unsuccessfully, though. Lights on auto, turn on Brights and they should turn off when approaching another tire whether it be tail, lights, or headlights, right? Mine do not every time I turn on the car, the radio turns on, even if I turn it off before I turn the car off! ??? There is no setting in my screen for the lights to come on automatically with the wipers. Please advise. Thank you, my cars name is Dory😊

    I have a 22 obw... 18,000 miles. Just purchased a couple of weeks ago. All 3 days ago it started making a siren sound when I start it. Today it did it when I was making a left turn, nothing and nobody was around. Is this a setting I have messed up or something the dealer needs to deal with?

    I am from Canada. Purchased a 2024 Crosstrek mid October.
    Is there a way to reset the average liters per 100km (mpg) reading on the gauge cluster screen behind the steering wheel?
    I owned a 2018 Ram 1500 truck previously and there was a reset button to allow the average km/100km to be reset manually in the gauge cluster menu.
    Really liked that feature and wondering if that feature is available on the 2024 Crosstrek.

    Possible change in SOS button operation? As Alex explains (and I understood from my 18 Outback) the SOS button works through a satellite connection. Now in my 24 Outback, I believe it works by cellular connection. My dealer says this is why the SOS button only works if you are in range of a cellular provider (which one is not clear). So maybe if the car is in an area where there is no cellular service, the SOS label should change to SOL?

    • @davidbrown3309
      @davidbrown3309 8 місяців тому

      At 3:45 you say that the SOS button connects via satellite. My Subaru dealer says this is no longer true. He says it now connects via a cellular connection which explains why the button does nothing when I’m driving in an area where cellular services are not available.
      Who has it right?

    • @davidbrown3309
      @davidbrown3309 8 місяців тому

      When I brought my 24 Limited in for its 6,000 mile oil change, the dealer told me that my old 2018 Limited used 4G cellular data. The 2024 uses 5G cellular data. Given that many of the old 4G towers have been abandoned here in the north country and 5G service is spotty, that's a plausible explanation for why my SOS button often doesn't work.
