As great as this game is, I can't help but feel the ability to have 4 people playing simultaneously kind of breaks things. Even if you do multiply the amount of enemies, they're still trying to fight the equivalent of two enraged octopuses on PCP.
@@arronmunroe I think it's best to play these old games with people beside you though. If the person is far away and you don't really know them then it's just like playing with an NPC, although I understand you're just trying to come up with the next best solution in the absence of players right beside you.

In classic mode, it actually is possible to hit the other players and there is also less screen space because it's not widescreen. I personally don't like friendly fire in general, but it's especially bad when it involves more than 2 players. The arcade game D.D. Crew has some big problems because of that.

Take a shot every time Max says "Obidah!!". And I'll say this once: Level 3 is Disneyland. There's even a Pirates of The Caribbean section for further proof. And what is with those signs at Sega Stadium? "It's like Boo"?? "Do! Baseball!"??? And keep an eye out for "Bare II" on the scoreboard. Its the Japanese name for SOR 2, Bare Knuckle 2. And how did Sega get away with a sound effect from Pac-Man when he eats a fruit??

I believe this version has a mania plus mode. I would like to try it someday. One thing I don't like about it is how the extra long life bars can slow things down a bit, since having 4 players doesn't always make it faster to take down certain bosses or bad guys. Still, I'm willing to give it a try.
As far as I know, there aren't fewer than there normally would be on hard, although it may appear that way because it's widescreen. I believe you get more bad guys if you play on mega mania difficulty, but the problem with that is you also get faster enemies and bosses with much bigger life bars. Personally, I'd like to see something closer to the standard difficulty, but with more bad guys.

For 4p specifically, I can't think of much. I know I did make a code for Bubble Bobble Plus on Wii for the classic mode, since the regular mode is already 4 player. It should be mentioned that Super Bomberman already was 4 player, but just not for the story mode, so I wouldn't have been able to do 4p if it wasn't already like that. Of the few other hacks I had made, I think they are mostly for 2 players. Edit: I remembered there was also Super Monkey Ball 2 challenge mode 4p.

Given Axel’s, Blaze’s, Max’s and Skate’s abilities, lore wise, I’m guessing that’s kind of the point. Granted, this game was originally for two players but even I must admit the story demanded (by the time of streets of rage 2’s release) a 4-player experience.
Although I have no idea when I would do it, I was planning on trying 4p on mania plus difficulty sometime. I just don't think that would work with friendly fire also.
@arronmunroe that's ok. Me and my buddies play on hardest only and turn on friendly fire just because it's funny to see one of us catching stray hits when shit hits the fan. Trying to hit an enemy while trying not to damage your friends shows skill, too.
It's been a while since I played this, but what exactly are you trying to save? I know that if someone drops in the middle of a game, it is possible to recover if they reconnect right away.

The "it's like Boo", ppl theorize it's a reference to Majin Boo, cause that's the level where the Big Fat guys appear

This version of the game has mania plus, which is harder than regular mania. It is something I plan to get around to someday.
I wish someone could get sega to give us the studio non compressed sound vocals for sor2 and sor3. Sega cd has studio vocals for sor1.

Between this game & Streets of Rage Remake......is SOR done right! This game looks like so much fun especially on Mania difficulty!
I don't dislike Streets of Rage 4, but the online here makes SoR4 look bad in comparison, and that game is limited to only 2p online.

This game has a regular online mode. You can also record a replay of the game, so there's no lag in the video, which is what I did.
Do one playthrough with friendly damage on. Bet it'll be funny
