I’m from south Lebanon and a lot of us have been affected by Israeli violence at least at some point in our lives. As Lebanese, we have been very careful to toe the line regarding Israel when working in foreign countries even though WE have suffered. It has been vindicating to see so many people see the truth. (Read about sabra chatila massacre in 1982, bombing of Qana in 1999 and 2006 south Lebanon war)

As an Israeli abroad, this is one of the most well spoken things I've heard and what I've been saying all along since the day Israel started reacting to Oct 7th. I'm completely embarassed to the point of exasperation about what's happening in my home country, I can't even speak to most of my friends or family anymore because we disagree so vehemently and they see me as a traitor. I only want peace and coexistence and consideration of innocent Palestinian lives, and I keep saying to them this isn't just a moral disaster in what we're doing to Palestinians, it's a disaster for Israel too because a) we're not solving the problem, with such awful violence we're creating more terrorists than we are eliminating and b) we're a small country and completely dependent on diplomacy for our survival, and that diplomacy will fail us as the world turns against us.
The global south has already turned against us. In the global north public opinion has too, but most of the ruling politicians have yet to catch on, that will change.
