  • It's been 1 year since I made my very first tune in Raster Music Tracker. Since then, I've improved quite a lot in using the program. I thought that I decided to improve upon Vampire Killer that I covered last year. I decided to use my own percussion that I created for the PoKEY chip (ones that I've been using since Clay's Pottery), and I decided to use Pure Buzzy+Square for the bassline. I really like how this version came out. And yes, I also decided to add in the prologue song here as well. For version 1 of this cover, you can go here: • Castlevania - Vampire ...
The song is being played back in Altirra with the channel monitoring active and the non-linear sound mixing turned on.
Song originally composed by: Kinuyo Yamashita and Satoe Terashima. Thanks for watching.

You weren't kidding when you said this was an improvement. Everything sounds much tighter and more in-tune than the cover you made a year ago. Definite proof that practice makes perfect. Who knows, you might make a cover a year from now that's even better than this one.

kinda interesting to hear it next to the other SN chip this was done with: ua-cam.com/video/sIXrZzh1_VY/v-deo.html
yours has really good drums in comparison. though, the tandy 1000 version was trying to be close to a version created with a 1-channel PC speaker

I still don't get how the other song's pitches were so different on the first cover, but now they are tuned closer to western tuning in this version. Does it have to do with pitch bending? :?

I think it has to do with the fact that Raster Music Tracker and its .sap exporter has its pitches in PAL while one of the bass waveforms (which I used for accompanying melody in the first version) gets a little detuned and becomes weird in the higher notes. Since I used NTSC speed in Raster Music Tracker, I had the video setting to NTSC in Altirra, which I guess also sets the pitches to NTSC, so that might be why this version has its pitches closer to the western tuning.
