Practical Micro Car Camper Sleeping Setup for Cold Winter

- So, I decided go to a local campsite and record this micro car camper sleeping setup. The temperature was below zero. Although I kept the rear door open it was really toasty. I used this setup in -8 °C without any issues. The double sleeping back acts as blanket. The mattress insulation combined with 3 layers on top can easily protect you in a cold winter. This setup worked for me better than a single expensive sleeping bag and thin inflatable mattress.
In this video you will learn how to convert a hatchback car to a practical micro camper without any modifications and more importantly without making a mess. The entire process take less than 15 minutes. This is not a conversion for full-time living in the car, but a very smart solution for short trips for a couple of days. Remember, thisis solo car camping. The car will always be ready for your normal daily usage and no will notice it is a micro camper, even when it is fully loaded and ready to go FARAWAY!
This is a Ford Fiesta MK7. Surprisingly it provides a lot of space. There are some specific features for this car that are handy time to time. I'm sure this can be applied to any other hatchback car. Each car has some unique features that are useful while camping. Just do your own research.

No cutting. No drilling. Keeping the car in mint condition. That is my favourite part.
Thank you for your video. I also have a little hatch back and watching your videos has given me hope for self camping.
Cheap bit carpet better than a rug but decent.
Geniale!
Bellissimo. Io campeggio in auto anche, molto poco diffusa sta cosa qui in italia, purtroppo.
Depends on where you plan to camp in winter. -8c is a warm day in Finland during winter.
An extra pair of socks will do the trick.
This is brilliant mate! I’ll have to try this in my Nissan hatch. Curious…did you use nappies under all that? Can’t imagine trying to get out of all of that in the middle of a winter night!
Nice 🙌🏻👍🏻 Please tell me the height of the big and small box
Thanks! 18 and 25 cm.
Nice work Mr Porch did you decide on a takeaway today
Good point! Actually it wasn't a camping video, but more like a how to or tutorial style.
Hi, what is the sleeping pad that you are using? Thanks
Link in the description
Is the table/wooden slat attached to hinges or freestanding? And where did you get something that fit so well, did you make it?
It's IKEA Linnmon 100x60 cm. Surprisingly it fits perfectly in this car! Not attached to anything. Just watch my very first video to figure out. Cheers!
@@farawayporch Amazing! Thanks
👍
Something for me to consider after doing vanlife for two years and all the expense that goes with it. Great idea and very stealth if you need it to be.
amazing! where did you buy these perfect matching boxes?
Thanks! B&M (UK). Surprisingly they perfectly match. Initially I wanted to use one piece ottoman box for each side. It gives a softer top surface and it is more sturdy. However, making it with two boxes stacked on top of each other gives you more flexibility. Because the smaller one goes to the base and the longer one to the top. Because the space between rear and front seats is not fully cubical. Also, ottoman boxes are heavier. Additionally, a large ottoman box filled with so many stuff makes it difficult to find items quickly when you need them. Overall, this is a good setup and the car can always be back to normal in less than 5 minutes without making a mess.
Thankyou. A sheepskin underneath is a game-changer.
Great idea!
Didn't look like to much effort but ditch those rear seat head rests don't need them .
WHERE IS YOUR SOLAR PANEL ?
Looks like you were the only one there ... LOL.
Amazing Micro Car Camper!
Looks loverly there was is it🏴🚙⛺️
Great video. I have the same car so will be doing exactly what you’re doing.
hey man, great video, how tall is that bed? I need to see if I fit full stretch
Oh thanks, it's Outwell Dreamcatcher 10 cm thickness. You probably can find accurate figures if you Google it.
Hey, how tall are you? I want to buy a fiesta for car camping
How do you heat your car in the night? Do you live engine on?
With proper clothing and sleeping bags it gets so hot that you start removing extra clothing.
Amazing! May we know the exact size of the boxes for the Ford Fiesta?
Clear Box: 36.5W x 46.5L x 25.5h (cm)
Opaque box: 40W x 55L x 18.5h (cm)
Wood100x6Ocm
I'm thinking about same thing. My question is: Why not leave engine and heating on overnight? Consumption is maybe 0,7 l/h, I sleep 7 hours so it is 5 l of gas. It's not to expensive.
Your car engine: I don't even want to think about it! Please don't do this to me!
Iding wears the engine out more then actually driving it lol
If you google it there are different answers. Today anegine should do it without issues.
er... the cost to the environment would be one reason why not to keep engine running!
@@travelcatwisdom and what enviroment friendly heating You are using?
Hi, Where did you get the window shades from?

How much have you spent altogether for this set up especially the mattress and blankets and where did you get them from
I want to start car camping but wondering if a fiesta is going to be to small as im 6ft3. How tall are you?
Would be small for you. I'm 175cm and will sleep diagonally without any issues. You probably need to sleep in fetal position (slightly).
