- Today, we decided to break a box of the Brand New Topps Mercury product. This was one of the more expensive boxes I've ripped in a while, sitting at a price of $8,000! And then you think about the selling fees, TAXES on the sale!, the time it will take to post and ship a $2000 card, will have to pay for insurance and sign delivery. He’s losing half of what he spent on this box

Truthfully it’s honestly sad. I can’t even afford to rip hobby anymore. I remeber just 3 years ago I could buy boxes for relatively affordable and now this. I wish one day I could open boxes with my future kids but it sad that it seems there pricing me out of the hobby

A couple months ago I bought a PSA 9 2003 Bowman Chrome X-Fractor Lebron James rookie card /150 for $8,100. I've been collecting since 1989 and have always bought single cards and learned early on that ripping wax is a HUGE GAMBLE. I'll take my Lebron rookie any day over these Wembanyama cards! Don't get me wrong, I love the excitement of watching you and others ripping wax, but with my money I'll stick to my formula!

Love the concept of a specialized release set, but starting price is insane. It is one thing for resellers and breakers to jack up Panini FOTL on dutch auctions and hoard hobby boxes, but coming straight out of the gate with a $8000 MSRP for pure cardboard is insane, even if it was licensed. They could literally throw in a large fine silver diamond encrusted plate with Wemby's face on it and still come out thousands ahead. The cards also look incredibly bland with the flat colors, like a minimum effort foiled set.
Topps making tons of money while driving the Wemby auto market down by over-producing unlicensed cards....yikes!

Genuine question... are you concerned by the amount of saturation in the hobby of Wemby cards and autos? I'm not sure i've seen anything like this level of market saturation from a single player. Surely this is going to affect long term value. He's gotta be a sell sell sell right now.

Every single “encased” card I’ve seen has the case scuffed. Question, is it on purpose so you will grade it? For Panini it’s pretty much understood you don’t have to grade cards they encase. Let me know chat.

I think the jersey matches only have inscriptions I saw the 01/10 Black Wingspan insert with auto and "Rookie of the Year" inscription pulled from Backyard Breaks. Good pulls still with a red and golds congrats sir!
