Ike is definitely the best voice for Kahn since Steve Ritchie. No one will ever top Steve but, Ike is awesome. I hated his MK9 voice but, that's just me. I'm sure lots of people liked it.
That's by far the best way I've heard it put: 1st sounds like someone of god-like power & influence, and the last sounds more fearsome, menacing, & blood-hungry
Ike seems like he's good for shao kahn's fighting voice But i don't know.. Seems too much Bob shows much more emotion with his words and actually sounds threatening and calculating While shao kahn of ike's shao kahn sounded like he's only violent all the time
I really can't decide between Steve Richie and Ike Amadi. Both provide that kind of confident, above-everyone authority in their voice that really fits Shao Kahn, but while Ike's is more upfront about the brutality Shao Kahn revels in, Steve's is a bit more subdued about it. Both equally great in my opinion.
Steve Richie and Bob Carter are the best Shoa Kahn voice actors ever. There was this feeling that while these two shoa khans were kicking my bottom and swiping the floor with it. It felt only fair to just get angry at how much he spams the rising air attack but his voice and how he insults you when you lose. That’s when you can get angry but how performs. It was magnificent tbh.
Usually I prefer the modern voice actors because they’re always so much better. But I can’t this time, Steve Ritchie is just phenomenal; he is the real Shao Kahn. Period. Nobody can ever do a better Shao Kahn than Steve.
No matter who came along after 1995, Steve Ritchie and that wicked dark voice will remain the king of Outworld. SO iconic. No one taunts quite like he does. They're timeless in how they sort of belittle the player. A good villain is someone both incredibly challenging to overcome, and someone you come to despise, and mainly because of the first part 😅😆😜
In my opinion, Bob Carter sounded way better during his in-fight dialogue and laughs than his story mode stuff. I’d call him the best if it was just those lines.
I’m gonna go against the majority on this one, but I really can’t choose anyone BUT Bob Carter. Story mode or otherwise, I just like his take. You said his in-fight quotes were the best. I follow you: when I fought (struggled) against Shao Kahn in 9, his taunts actually managed to get to me.
MK II and III hands down... when you play the game with surround system... the voice just reverberates throughout the house and it’s just so classic...
Steve Ritchie just proves how strong of a voice that Shao Kahn needs to have, hes got the voice while the character has the power, putting them together and you got one of the most amazing and strongest Shao Kahns ever
Ike's take on it is so damn good. His version of Shao Kahn sounds like power, authority, and charisma incarnate. It's like every time he talks you can tell his tone that he doesn't give a rats ass about anything anyone has to say to him, he's the damn Kahn and he makes sure everyone knows it
Steve Ritchie is from that old-school acting where they dramatically roll their "r's"...much respect to the old school. 👌🏾👏🏾 That said, Ike Amadi's rendition is so beautifully perfect. 🥺💖
Steve sounds like a mystic, unmatched ruler. He exudes confidence. He never needs to raise his voice. His presence is enough. Ike sounds like a leader. A conqueror. A man undefeated on the battlefield that lives only for war. You will follow him or he will come for you once the killing ends. Ike is what the young ruthless Shao is to Steve's triumphant Khan. Together, they are perfect. Two halves of the same coin.
Steve Ritchie is a classic pick. For nostalgia, he is the best Shao Kahn, but I think for the more intimidating, tyrannical sound, Ike Amadi did a better job at that.
Steve Richie's rolled R's are extremely powerful but nostalgia aside, Ike Amadi is everything I wanted in a Shao Kahn voice but hadn't got until him. That said I would watch an animated MK movie with Welker's take on it.
Jeff Meek will always be my favorite Shao Kahn. I do have to say though, that I feel like Ike Amadi captured a lot of similar tones and nuances. Major Kudos to him. I did love Steve Richie as Shao Kahn in MK2 and 3, his announcer voice was epic, and Shao Kahn's ad libs were great, but in Shaolin Monks, not so much. I didn't even realize that it was him, but he certainly didn't capture that same darkness that he did in the 90s games.
Steve Ritchie can't even get in comparison. He is a legend. Besides that Ike Amandi is my favorite by far! His voice makes Shao Kahn even more terrifying than he already is. Great casting! MK11 is a flawless game from every perspective imo!

The problem with the new voices is none of them were directed to match the original at all. I didn't even realize it was the same voice actor for MKSM when I played it because they sound like two different characters. After Armageddon every performance was directed as an low-tone barbarian. The original has a slight accent (Ritchie said he gave him one intentionally) rolls his 'R's and has a slight snarl which is why his "Round" sounds so good, as well as having an echo.
"Worthless boy. Do you know who I am?!?! Liu Kang: The murderer of my friend! Shao Kahn: I am Shao Kahn! Conqueror of worlds! You will taste no victory. This is my favorite Shao Kahn because he is the Shao Kahn I was first introduced to and why I fell in love with the character for his personality. Thank you Bob.
His introduction in the game is amazing winning Armageddon killing Raiden sadly for dark Raiden that timeline still exists he only made a second timeline
@ And I love that they used his MKVDCU model for that opening because it better matched the 3D area Shao design, but was close enough in detail to the rest of MK9’s models
