"So intent was Frank upon solving the puzzle of Lemarchand's box that he didn't hear the great bell begin to ring. The device had been constructed by a master craftsman, and the riddle was this--that though he'd been told the box contained wonders, there simply seemed to be no way into it, no clue on any of its six black lacquered faces as to the whereabouts of the pressure points that would disengage one piece of this three-dimensional jigsaw from another." -Clive Barker's The Hellbound Heart, 1986
Everything about the music used for the Lament Configuration is just brilliant to me; it starts off sounding magical and eerie at the same time, enticing you to keep going., It gradually becomes more distorted as the box gets closer to being solved. Then there's a sudden, shocking musical sting as the box is solved and the doorway is officially opened; we've crossed the event horizon, there's no going back now. Then the music dies down in a twisting fade out before we hear...the bell tolling, announcing the arrival of the Cenobites. They're here and they're going to claim your soul; no escape, no mercy, only divine suffering. Hot damn, Clive Barker is an absolute genius. He isn't nearly as well known as he deserves to be.

Right. The book sure does explain a lot, in detail, more than just the movie could convey! Thank you for sharing that.

Christopher Young also composed the music for the film version of "Flowers In The Attic" (1987).

LeMerchand originally designed music boxes. It only makes sense that the music of his creation is played on a music box.
Today, it'd be "We have such sites to show you." :)
