GIMME TRUE BLUE. I've just started considering modelling and casting my own wedding band so this thorough video couldn't have come at a better time 😅. Keep up the cool videos!
GIMME TRUE BLUE. Hey Vogman, I'm new to printing and casting. My cousin is a very experienced jeweler (about 55 years of age) and I'm now helping him evolve by bringing new techniques to his work. He's been doing everything by hand the old skool way but we're smoothly transitioning. I bought a phrozen mini 4k for myself to get the hang of the process, and he bought a phrozen 8k for the shop. Your videos have helped me a lot so thanks so much! I'm grateful for the time you take to make this videos and I consider myself very lucky to have come across your channel. Peace and love from Greece
GIMME TRUE BLUE! I have been itching to use a castable resin as its not very common in my country of South Africa. Jumped into 3d printing to assist my uncle who decided that at 70 years old it is the right time to stop making jewelry by hand and start giving 3d printing a go. I suppose you need to start some time right? Its been very difficult and the learning curve has been something else. I can confidently print things to turn into molds because I followed your video about mold making. You have helped me in so many ways with these videos. Going from print to cast is the dream lol. Specially after silicone molding for months. Thank you for all you do Vog Man!
GIMME TRUE BLUE. Just found your channel after seeing it mentioned several times on reddit. Seems like your channel will help me get well on my way to printing my first 3D castable ring (my wedding ring!), thanks!
Good video as always. Question, why don't you model the casting stem onto the object model? It seems that it would remove some of the supports and reduce some work.
You need to watch more of my casting videos buddy. I usually do include the sprues in the print. However, as this video was to show what the resin is capable of, I went with the traditional approach 😁
@@vogman i should, unfortunately work and school take my time and I got a request for 100 mini's for a community event. Which would be a lot easier if I had a phrozen might/athena sized printer, but I have a phrozen mini.
GIMME TRUE BLUE. I have recently loved watching your casting videos, ive learned a ton and i would love to start building my own setup. You make it look easy enough that even i could figure it out. GIMME TRUE BLUE and thanks for the video. Picked up the D2 for my husband after watching your videos. It’s our first 3D printer ever, and I’ve thoroughly enjoyed learning to use it.
GIMMY TRUE BLUE. I watch and learn all about lost wax casting. The day I get true blue I take the final step and order all the equipment so I can start casting.

GIMME TRUE BLUE! Been using this religiously for a while now. I used to have to order it from Amazon US to be delivered to Birmingham UK, and I go through at least one bottle a week now. Maybe the winner should be someone who would benefit from trying it out, but I’m throwing my name in as anyway

GIMME TRUE BLUE. Thanks for your content. I've been sand-casting with FDM print models, but largely thanks to your vids, finally decided to give a shot at investment casting with resin prints to get better detail and dimensional accuracy. This True Blue resin looks like an obvious choice. One of the Amazon reviews I saw on the True Blue resin recommended mixing the Blue and Purple to get slightly better strength for models that were particularly difficult to print. I'd personally love to see more content around your 3d printing + casting.
GIMME TRUE BLUE! I just got into casting after hand making jewelry for some time now. I just picked up a vacuum casting machine, the same melting furnace you reveiwed, and a burnout oven, just need some resin and wax sprus to try my first attempt! Love your channel, you inspired me to try my hand at casting
GIMME TRUE BLUE. I'm trying to apply for a grant for workshop tools so your Channel has been really helpful. The casting resin for jewellery prints seem to be very expensive and confusing to find the resins that can be used in lost wax casting. Thanks for the info 🙂👍
Hi VOGMAN! Does true blue give off a lot of fumes when its in the kiln? I normally steam dewax to stop fumes but I dont think thats possible with this castable resin

Vog inspired me to get started in doing this myself finally after honing my interests. I just received a sonic mini 8k in the mail today. Would a photon d2 have been that much better of a purchase?
I have got some true blue cast and it prints fine but when I dry the alcohol off i only get a couple of patches white and I tried to wash again but won't turn colour do you have any tips for me I am using 96.6% bioethanol (ekofuel) is this the problem do you think
GIMME TRUE BLUE!! I've used the purple casting resin several time now and find that I prefer to use wax, as you mentioned. Would really like to give this stuff a shot
There is a comment on amazon saying that 50/50 purple&blue resins give the best printing result. Is there any chance that you can try that combination? I am trying to choose between two but even after watching both of your review videos, I couldn't decide yet.
I've been having a slight issue with my chitubox settings. Everything prints fine, but when I go to scrape it off the plate, the models come off with a raft, but there's a second extremely hard raft left behind. Is my initial exposure time too high?
Give me true blue. I honestly want to start getting into the hobby of casting things. But 3d printing alone is an expensive hobby. Making my wallet burn in my pocket when I watch these videos. But love them as always
GIMME TRUE BLUE ! Thanks so much for this guide, I've just started 3d printing and have been struggling a little with the small bottle of True Blue I have! I can see the potential of this resin though and with your guidance I'm off to have another try! Thanks Vogman!!
GIMME TRUE BLUE Thank you so much for the detailed video. That resin would be a great candidate for my „Let it Burn“ series. And of course I would also try to cast in silver.
GIMME TRUE BLUE I have missed the casting videos, but after looking at the statistics, your channel gets more views on printer reviews, so I understand your recent focus on those kind of videos
GIMME TRUE BLUE! Been inspired by your modeling and casting videos forever, but at long last my acquiring of tools and materials is coming to the point I will be able to try lost-resin casting soon.
GIMME TRUE BLUE. I know you have done videos on the whole vacuum casting process but one question keeps coming up for me: How hot is the flask when you put it on the vacuum casting machine and how long does the silicone pad last. Ok, that was two questions. I love the music you have on in the background. It is easily the best to be found in any UA-cam videos.

Gimme true blue!! Thanks for your videos, especially this one as I just got a bottle delivered and could barely find anything at all on this resin. Vogman for the clutch!!
GIMME TRUE BLUE Ive got all the casting tools. Forge, Kiln, Vacucaster. Ive played around a bit with my resin printer and Ive been trying to learn Zbrush for years. Your videos Hit just about every mark of information for how I want to run my own setup
Gimme true blue! Love your content. Ive been 3d printing for a while now for my mini hobby but used to do wax spruing and post casting cleanup at my internship as i studied to become a goldsmith. Didnt even know this was a thing for resin printers till this video! We used a special kind of pla printer with horrible layer lines that took ages to clean up. Would be really interesting to get back into that side of the proffesion. Thank you for all the great content. Your tutorials on how to propperly add suports saved my interest in the hobby when i was just getting started. Keep up the amazing work!
Another great video, and at just the right time for me - I'm having a devil of a time calibrating my printer for castable True Blue. In your experience, did you have trouble with build plate adhesion/needing an oversized raft, and do you use any calibration prints with this resin more successfully than the cones of calibration? Even at 60mm/m lift height (seems to be the minimum for the Halot Mage), prints seem to be pulling apart, possibly due to the lower strength of the wax resin. Separately, it looked like you'd made a pickling solution (citric acid) to clean a silver cast, which is good - but be careful not to allow that solution to be in contact with stainless steel (tweezers, ultrasonic cleaner basins, etc) as it can contaminate the pickle and plate your silver part with the contaminants.
I initially struggled with TB. It took a few attempts, but I got there with persistence. If you have sticking issues, make sure your plate is very clean (soak in IPA overnight). Also have a large raft. It really helps. Not come across the tainting issue. Thanks for that. I don't sell or have my work officially hallmarked, but it's a good thing to know in case I ever do. 😁
@@vogman I was able to (mostly) solve the issue with prints detaching from the print bed by committing the sin of gently sanding the brand new build plate. The Halot Mage's build plate was the smoothest plate I've ever seen, and even after a bit of roughing up it's still not even close to the amount of texture on any of my Elegoo print beds. It didn't feel good doing it, but having the prints now stick with the same settings helped me eliminate one more variable.
Oh, this looks nice. I don't have a casting area, would love one honesty as I have miles of copper wire, but I want to see how castable the resin is. Well, castable as in mold making. "Normal" resin inhibits platinum cure silicone, I wonder if the higher wax content will allow molding without having to off-gas the print for weeks and coat it with inhibitors.
That is so cool. As I am increasing my personal print farm with two resin printers, it’s got me thinking of what else to print and do. I don’t have space for doing casting, but watching your videos really is making me tempted to do some garage cleaning to make it possible. I know you’ve had videos in the past on what’s available for home casting like you’re doing, has there been any updates or are you planning on making any updates how to/setup videos? Thanks for the great content as always.
Actually a lot of people "print" in castable resins. This then allows the client to send the print to a Casting house. Don't forget to include my percentage of you new revenue scheme 😁😁😁
GIMME TRUE BLUE. Not sure if you've covered it in depth in other videos but would love your thoughts on modeling sprues into the print vs traditional spruing!
I’m curious, VogMan; when it comes to using an LCD printer for jewellery, do you think using a 12K printer gives better surface finish results than an 8K printer? Or is it negligible at those kinds of resolutions only make a difference in silver finishing time?
GIMME TRUE BLUE, I have tried the purple version but have had many print failures with complex ring designs, it would be great to try again with this stuff! Love your work by the way.😊
GIMME TRU BLUE--Wow, this brings back memories of foundry days--great video and love how organized your shop/equipment is ! Still researching, but I’m torn between regular sculpting in oil clay, and scanning it, or actually investing in one of these epoxy printers ??
Hey @VogMan quick question. How are you compensating ring size for shrinkage? I have the exact same setup d2 with sirayatech true blue and I'm finding it difficult to get perfect ring sizes when sizing the inner diameter in zbrush. Thanks!
GIMME TRUE BLUE Got my first resin printer today! Got standard resin in the box but would love to try this one as well. Been watching tons of your videos before deciding on a purchase. Thank you!
GIMME TRUE BLUE , Love your video's man, looking for a better casting resin at the moment. I've actually found quite a few brands that say you need a special type of plaster. Have you've looked into different plasters and resin pairings? From what i've found phosphate bonded plasters will work perfectly with all castable resins because the burnout temperature can be way hotter and it's less reactive. That stuff is super expensive though.. Other plasters like Plasticast seem to be designed specifically for casting with printing resins but also not all of them seem to give perfect results. (The manufacturer also doesn't specify what resins will work) It's also limited to lower melting point metals it seems.. I'm now using SRS Classic but i'm going to try different plasters soon because it's really expensive for me (A little over 100 euro's with shipping for 22kg, I live in europe) I'm thinking of trying the Plasticast or the Aurum plaster from R&R. The latter is apparently made in europe and I found a place that sells it for relatively cheap.
GIMME TRUE BLUE. I want to start casting. I am in the look for a 3D Printer just for this. Which one you would recomende Elegoo Mars 4 DLP or The Mars Saturn 3 with 12K?

GIMME TRUE BLUE I've been waiting for another video of the true blue! Awesome stuff thanks vogman!
You're in the draw 😁
GIMMIE TRUE BLUE - been following your videos for some time, very impressive casting quality.
Unfortunately I've no experience there...
@@vogman Oh I am sure, just you got my mind a wondering, again. I kinda like to experiment.
Thank you for your content. So many new resin materials and formulations been developed, simply amazing.😎
You're in the draw 😁
GIMME TRUE BLUE. Not sure if you've covered it in depth in other videos but would love your thoughts on modeling sprues into the print vs traditional spruing!
GIMME TRUE BLUE! I have been casting a lot with Purple cast and would love to try true blue!
what investment plaster brand do you use please? this may be the most important issue with resin casts.
Most modern investment plasters work in honesty, but this link will help you vegoilguy.co.uk/equipment.php
I’m curious, VogMan; when it comes to using an LCD printer for jewellery, do you think using a 12K printer gives better surface finish results than an 8K printer? Or is it negligible at those kinds of resolutions only make a difference in silver finishing time?
Without an ACF liner, 12K printers would work very well. 😁
GIMME TRUE BLUE, I have tried the purple version but have had many print failures with complex ring designs, it would be great to try again with this stuff! Love your work by the way.😊
You're in the draw 😁
GIMME TRUE BLUE 🥳 Love your work. I am just trying to get my final equipment for casting.
GIMME TRUE BLUE. I've done some printing with the purple castable resin, but not having to use a glycerin bath sounds very appealing
You're in the draw 😁
GIMME TRU BLUE--Wow, this brings back memories of foundry days--great video and love how organized your shop/equipment is ! Still researching, but I’m torn between regular sculpting in oil clay, and scanning it, or actually investing in one of these epoxy printers ??
You're in the draw. Best of luck.
Hey @VogMan quick question. How are you compensating ring size for shrinkage? I have the exact same setup d2 with sirayatech true blue and I'm finding it difficult to get perfect ring sizes when sizing the inner diameter in zbrush. Thanks!
I got around 4 percent of shrinkage after curing for half an hour also using true blue cast of course
GIMME TRUE BLUE Got my first resin printer today! Got standard resin in the box but would love to try this one as well. Been watching tons of your videos before deciding on a purchase. Thank you!
Have fun! You're in the draw 😁
GIMME TRUE BLUE Thank you for the opportunity.
Looks good Vog man, what temperature do you melt your silver at and flask temp? You have good surface finish on raw casting.
It varies according to what I'm casting but the place to start is the temperature recommended by the supplier 😁
GIMME TRUE BLUE. Another interesting video, thanks VogMan !
I'm now using SRS Classic but i'm going to try different plasters soon because it's really expensive for me (A little over 100 euro's with shipping for 22kg, I live in europe)
I'm thinking of trying the Plasticast or the Aurum plaster from R&R.
You're in the draw 😁
And try this page. It has your answers www.vegoilguy.co.uk/3d-resin-printing-jewellery.php
do you have to use PRIMER ??? is it mandatory
GIMME TRUE BLUE. I've only recently started resin printing but I love the stuff you've been doing and really want a go at casting aluminium and bronze parts.
You're in the draw 😁
Wow, you prints stick to the plate with only 5 bottom layers?
Yes. Make sure your base lift speed is low. That can cause issues 😁
