What a great intro - Great work! And one hell of an amazing tutorial! Thank you so much for these insights for someone just getting into the 2nd installment!
@@S2riker Thanks for the kind words S2riker! Guitar legend - I don’t know 🤣… It was just a labour of love, because I really adore these games and their Soundtrack/Sound design! Just wanted to contribute to the community and maybe raise awareness for the incredible Soundtrack these guys have done…
Truly awesome guide, very professional! You really explained the ship stats in a very informative and easy to understand way. Btw, the ships have their specific base stats it would seem but are those negligible once you get to the higher upgrade tiers? Maybe this is something you've planned for a future video :)
Thanks, glad you enjoyed the video! As far as the ship's base stats are concerned, I have reason to assume that they are still very much relevant in the higher upgrade tiers as evidenced by the ships that are currently considered to be meta (Koeg, Asera and Buran) and their associated builds. There are other players in the Discord community who might be able to answer this question better though. A takeaway for me in my isolated explorations into the ship stats is that a high base attibute allows you to NOT have to put as many of your build points into that particular area (ex: an Asera with a lower-thrust build).
I'm no pro (or even close) but I can say pretty confidently that the base stats play a notable role, especially if you're building into them. That said, if 'good enough' is indeed good enough, then most any ship can, with some work, be made to feel and handle like most any other. But even at my arguably novice skill, I can feel the differences from one ship to the next.
Been procrastinating to watch this video forever man. I'm glad I finally did it. But man I don't know if I'm in a better spot now because I might've ended up with more questions than before watching this lol. That is not to say the video wasn't helpful. This is without a doubt the HIGHEST quality video I've seen of this game. Amazing stuff man.
Thank you so much, I really appreciate the compliment!! Part of the confusion in Redout 2 is that there are so many build variables that you normally don’t have to consider in similar racers, plus the track designs aren’t especially accommodating to the ship physics. Even though I feel that Redout 1 is a “harder” game at the top-end, there’s a much more logical flow of improvement vs. Redout 2 which is more complicated.
I just recently bought Redout after watching some of your videos, I've been enjoying it. Though it is certainly very difficult compared to most racing games I've played.
Ive been veen watching your vids for a while so this was a nice surprise! The community needed something like this for redout 2 and im glad youre tackling it! Everything is quite professional looking keep this up! Some minor criticism though: -Turn the music down a tad so we can hear your voice better. -it sounds like youre reading the script extra slow, im not sure if thats just how you talk or if its even a real problem but i had to speed the video up abit because it was bugging me. Looking forward to more of these as im a redout 1 vet that feels like 2 is kicking my ass😂
Thank you for the feedback! I don’t write any scripts for my videos- the dialogue is all impromptu so it may be coming across as slow as I’m thinking about what to say next. I’ll try and work on speeding up my thought process for the future episodes. I’ve gotten the music critique a few times also so I’ll fix that too. Redout 2 is definitely a whole different animal than Redout 1 and unfortunately very few of the skills transfer directly between the two games- seems much more a game of managing hull rather than precise driving lines.
Questions the video posed on me: - Doesn't Red 1 feel faster because of higher FOV? Or more dynamic FOV when boosting? - Can we get a link to the "Discord community"? - Can drifting be also as viable as it was in Red 1, by sacrificing the stability stat for Thrust and a bit more Steering / Strafing? - Are you using alternative control schemes for better manouverability? - How do you feel about assists? I see you are not using the "Anti-overheat" assist and have the ship explode on you.
Thanks for watching! -Discord.gg/Redout -The FOV changes could have a lot to do with it, though I still feel that the inertia of Redout 1’s ships make them feel faster despite lower objective speed numbers. -I don’t think drifting will ever reach that level of viability because the stability stat would have to be dropped so low that you’d bleed tons of speed in corners. Something to consider is that Redout 1’s wallbouncing offset the low stability but Redout 2 punishes you for doing so. -Not for better maneuverability but I customized my controls to mimic the “classic” control scheme from Redout 1, using the triggers as strafe. The only issue is that now my “roll left” has to be L3 and my right roll R2 which is unintuitive. -I don’t believe in assists; I think they teach bad habits and prevent you from improving as quickly.
@@S2riker Beautiful answer, thank you! So, if I like to enter corners sliding with a counter strafe. But the craft makes a "Wutututu" sound in apex of the corner and slows down significantly despite strafing. This means I am losing stability (skidding?) and could reduce speed loss with higher stability statistic? I can't wait for future videos. ♥️🧠 Edit: I've watched the video again and you have already answered my question. Love it!
Much needed content. Although, ship customization is super messy in RO2 - ship to playstyle to track specific. Plug in it your prefered controller and controller settings, this guide is almost impossible to pull off. I think you did best by explaining the roots of process.
It is certainly messy, between just the sheer number of ship parts and their applicability to different tracks as you mention. Thanks for watching anyhow and glad you enjoyed the video!
I played this game on redout till A league and it got to a point i had no new upgrades...every ship was at as 580 - 583 and the ship rank was 500- to fuckin 600 early in the league?! I dont have any more upgrades for my ships and i play the levels in order so im stuck on this one level because every ship i have either doesnt cool down fast enough and i cant boost leaving me to get passed up instantly and other ships speed stats are utter shit. Idk what to do. It feels unfair and not fun anymore and i dont wanna lower the difficulty over this just to win every time. Redout was perfect to a certain point and now its like i have it on nightmare. Please help i want to complete this game i love it to much 😭😭😭😭😭
A couple things- first, I recall others in the community saying that earlier in the career, the top speed stat is uniquely beneficial due to the way the stat scales up in on the graph. You might have too many stat points in things like stability or steering right now that aren’t as important at that power level. Secondly, and I can’t recommend this enough, go to the game’s Discord server - discord.gg/Redout- and ask around. There are a ton of really good players who could point you exactly in the right direction after looking at screenshots of your ship graphs.
Yo, appreciate what you're doing, but I can barely hear you over the music. It's good info but I'd definitely turn it down by at least half if not more if you continue the series, which I hope you do. Theres some other feedback I'd have, but I dont wana make it look like i'm slamming on the vid. It's good and would love having a guide series to send to friends, but the audio balance is genuinely a bit of a problem and an easy fix that'd make it easier and more pleasant to listen to is all.
Hmm, I know that was a concern of many players in my past series but I thought I got the audio/music just right this time around- guess I’ll keep tweaking it in the future episodes. Also, I’d be happy to hear your other feedback if you’d like to PM me on the Discord @ S2riker (discord.gg/redout).
11:21 - idk, seems to me redout 2 has a better sense of speed that the original, i guess its a thing of perceptions because the original had wind sounds, the ship jittered and you got speed lines on your screen, but this seems to me way faster than the first game even in later stages ua-cam.com/video/zca4ZHhpCJU/v-deo.htmlsi=45llU_3KKURGDfyP
Thanks for watching! For me, while Redout 2 visually looks faster and the ships objectively get higher /kph numbers, the inertia that Redout 1 ships carry at high speeds and how much harder it is to navigate turns makes the speed feel much faster and more treacherous.
